Thanks @snowmanshoes for the title!

Hello everyone, so nice to see you all. Pull up a chair, have a mince pie and a peppermint latte and share your Christmas bargains and ideas. In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

A massive thank you to those who have contributed and/or run the prequel threads this year. I can't believe it's another year! I started these when DD was a baby and she's just gone into Year 8!

@RatatatCat I got lovely Kraft paper type wrapping paper from Aldi last year, with nice Christmas gonks/gnomes on. It was nice and thick and from memory about 99p a roll, I think??

@napsarelifewithtwo this was recyclable too as no glitter etc!

RatatatCat · 11/09/2023 21:32

Thanks @WingingIt101 @Thegoldgrind I do have a membership that I never use so will take a look!

Froppysue · 11/09/2023 21:53

For 90s need to include some point horror! I love getting people gifts from when they were younger, I’ve gotten my bro gameboys, my dh retro games consoles, parents books etc from their youth, always well received and bargainous on eBay!

@Icamehomelikeastone thank you, I’ll have a look there!

@Notlongnow1 ooh thank you, they look really similar but I think the ones dd had were little heart or strawberry shaped, good alternative if I can’t find them though.

Boux avenue have a sale on just now, good for jammies and undies. I always wait for asos doing 20% off (which they do quite regularly) and get some clothes there which would be hard to find reduced elsewhere.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 11/09/2023 22:04

Has anyone bought an Oodie weighted blanket? I'm looking for one for Dd and wondered if there's anything that makes them stand out, or if not has anyone any recommendations as to where I might find one please?
She's not a brand snob at all, so if I can pay less for one elsewhere then I'll happily do so!

Crimsonbow · 11/09/2023 22:32

Help please! For a 12 year old boy who is into sports but also has anything he needs or wants bought for him already. What's "cool" (god I'm so old!) with pre-teen boys these days?

I'm also usually the relative who gives good book recommendations for kids but I've ran out of pre-teen reads - so any book ideas gratefully received.

Ginann · 11/09/2023 22:33

Anyone think this years furby will go down in price?

It's between £64.99 and £74.99 everywhere and it's the one thing ds has said he 'thinks' he wants most of all.

I'm not sure if the price will drop as it's supposed to be popular this year.

I also worry shops will sell out so debating just buying it now.

Blessedbethefruitz · 11/09/2023 22:44

@Ginann No help but curious - how old is your ds? Do they do much? I remember having one that first year they were a thing, it was all i wanted for Christmas! I recall it complaining a lot about no light...

bizzey · 11/09/2023 22:45

@Haveyoubrushedyourteeth

Don't know if this will help...but here goes !

Last year I bought kuddl.y special.
3x oddies and a weighted blanket on a fantastic offer

They are so so hot !

Do not underestimate how heavy and hot a weighted blanket gets !

The year before I bought my DS (asd) a 3.5kg one from Amazon

He is 50kg and it is still perfect.

Brands don't matter ....
The weight does !

Less weight is definitely more in comfort!
.

bizzey · 11/09/2023 22:47

The 10 percent of your body weight is a maximum I would say ...
I amore than 35 kg ..but the 4kg was enough for me !

Ginann · 11/09/2023 22:55

@Blessedbethefruitz I've done my research lol!

There's a video on most toy sites selling them and YouTube also has videos.
They have 4 modes and I think he will love it (if he doesn't change his mind as he's had a friend say before that a toy he had was for girls and he's never played with it since).

Search furby 2023 and they are orange or purple only so far, you'll get the idea Smile

sorryiasked · 11/09/2023 22:58

@Crimsonbow
Charlie Higson usually a safe bet for books, or Anthony Horowitz.
Present wise, voucher usually a safe bet amazon/steam/xbox

Checkinmylist1 · 11/09/2023 23:03

@bizzey I cannot comment on the helicopter experience package from buyagift but I would def check out the reviews on their site carefully & look at options to book directly. I had a buyagift fine dining voucher last year and it was such a headache in the end - there were so many restrictions in the t&cs ( eg no weekends/ certain locations etc) it was really difficult to use. You might get better value by booking it directly. Just something to think about!

Icamehomelikeastone · 11/09/2023 23:05

Fenwicks have the furby (in store, not sure if online) and they do a new sign up discount for 1st online order. I can't remember the % but I think for the item we got it just covered the postage. Might be worth checking

Mine has recently been reading Rules for Vanishing, Shadow of the Gods & Hunger of the Gods, Mirror World Series (Cornelia Funke), Taran Matharu's books.

& loves comic books like Wynd, Goblin, Rema, Wings of Fire.

bizzey · 12/09/2023 00:28

@Checkinmylist1 thank you .much appreciated advice .

Yalz · 12/09/2023 02:31

£10 Tuesday is back at Boots. Online only.

The mirrors are currently out of stock, but may become available during the day. This has happened in previous weeks.

Also, not everything on the £10 Tuesday pages is listed at £10 yet, but I think that is corrected as the morning goes on.

MerylSqueak · 12/09/2023 06:42

@Crimsonbow my ds loves the Bunny vs Monkey comic strip books. Also the Power of Five Anthony horowitz books. Night rise is the best if you don't want to buy a series. If he's into myths then Yhe Alchemist boots by Michael Scott

Amazing thank you 🙏

The Crafty Giraffe have their BOGOF offer on personalised decorations on.

It currently looks like most categories are in the BOGOF offer but they do change this regularly. If this is something you are considering I'd say now is the best time as a lot of the time it's just one or 2 categories on the offer at a time

Crafty Giraffe

There is a drop down menu at the side which lists the BOGOF categories

WhyHasAllTheRumGone · 12/09/2023 07:44

Had anyone actually received their Naked Marshmallows? I ordered mine on the 3rd and still no sign of them. I emailed to enquire and tbf they got back to me quickly, but a load of waffle about being busy, let down by suppliers etc
I wanted mine for a birthday gift last Sunday so I'm annoyed. They should at least have had a warning when ordering.

Krawnprackers · 12/09/2023 07:46

Mine are out for delivery today after ordering on the day the sale was posted here. Hopefully they come soon!

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 12/09/2023 08:00

@WhyHasAllTheRumGone you've saved me posting the same question, I too ordered on the 3rd and still nothing. I'm not in any great rush thankfully, but an email saying from them would have been appreciated.

Thats really helpful @bizzey thankyou. I hadn't even given the weight a thought yet, but I'll certainly go lighter after your advice.

Rubyroo73 · 12/09/2023 08:08

Re naked marshmallows- mine haven’t arrived yet either!
