This year I’m patting myself on the back - almost all Christmas food has been eaten and it’s the last day of the holidays.

Leftovers as of today:
A sliver of Red Leicester
A big chunk of Gouda
An unopened Brie
A box of crackers
A few Bendicks bitter mints

It will all be eaten in the next 1-2 days, except the Gouda no one wants - I’ll chop it and put it out for the blackbirds.

I’m counting this as zero waste 😊

What helped massively was hosting a little neighbours’ get together on the 28th (hot drinks and all uneaten sweet stuff laid out) - worked like a charm.

No we have mountains still. We still have at least half of the Christmas hamper we were bought, cheese not opened, crackers, plus the piles of chocolates, sweets and biscuits we were bought as gifts. Oh and unopened mince pies.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/01/2023 11:32

Plenty of gammon left, and lots of chocolates.
No mince pies alas. I’m seriously thinking of making some more (it’s still Christmas until 6th Jan after all 🎄) since there are 2 different half jars of mincemeat to use up. They’d keep until next year (speaking from experience) but I could do with the cupboard space anyway.

Fleabigg · 02/01/2023 11:33

Apart from all the chocolate (which is mostly DD’s anyway) we pretty much have. I deliberately didn’t buy as much this year and it’s been better.

BrokenWing · 02/01/2023 11:40

We have a gammon joint we will eat today (or at least cook as dated today)
A genoa cake
Also have quite a bit of crisps/chocolate

Piccalino3 · 02/01/2023 11:57

I've just been through the cupboards this morning and sorted things. I have a bag for the foodbank, loads of cheese which I'll do some broccoli and Stilton soup and Mac and cheese with, a whole panettone which I'm going to make bread and butter pudding with and chocolates, a popcorn wreath etc. I've started taking the decorations down but just things like the stockings. Will leave up tree and lights and anything that isn't cluttering up the house so we can enjoy it all until next Monday when normal life will resume

AardvarkParty · 02/01/2023 11:59

The kids have still got a bit of chocolate but I'm pleased that I didn't over buy this year.

We've got some gammon and turkey in the freezer for soups but apart from that, we've pretty much eaten everything.

Fuwari · 02/01/2023 12:01

I bought hardly anything as there's only 3 of us and we still have a full box of biscuits, a big chocolate tiffin thing, loads of cheese and crackers. It will get eaten but it will probably be another couple of weeks before everything's gone.

Stag82 · 02/01/2023 12:02

I need to sort my fridge out today. I defo have some cheese and crackers left and some chocolate but none will go to waste and will get eaten in the next week or so!

ShaunaTheSheep · 02/01/2023 12:02

Barely anything, mainly cheese and a lump of Xmas pud and rum butter, half a pot of cream.

LakeFlyPie · 02/01/2023 12:03

So much cheese!

grayhairdontcare · 02/01/2023 12:13

Freezer full of picky bits and a cupboard full of chocolates and biscuits left

FeltCarrot · 02/01/2023 12:19

Still have pigs in blankets and stuffing in the freezer alongside sausage rolls. 3/4 of a Xmas cake, mince pies a whole carrier bag full of chocolates (Maltesers x 2 choc orange, after 8’s etc…thanks MIL 😂) and a bit of cheese and pate in the fridge which will get eaten at lunchtime.

FeltCarrot · 02/01/2023 12:20

Forgot a whole Xmas pud!

Fairislefandango · 02/01/2023 12:21

I don't think we ever have stuff left over that doesn't get eaten tbh. We don't buy mountains of Christmas snack food. We have quite a bit of cheese left, but that will be great for lunches over the next few days. It's not stuff that we wouldn't normally buy and eat anyway.

Willmafrockfit · 02/01/2023 12:21

we have cheese
gammon
nuts
chocolates
satsumas
quarter of a christmas pudding
bread sauce

Willmafrockfit · 02/01/2023 12:22

i threw away the cooked pigs in blankets and half the vegetarian wreath, left over potatoes and parsnips, a couple of days ago

Juststopit · 02/01/2023 12:24

Just half a panettone and some
cheese and crackers left. I bought much less this year and I’m glad 😀

itsgettingweird · 02/01/2023 12:24

Lots of gammon left - it's been out in the freezer!

Some cheese but gets eaten slowly with crackers for lunch.

All crisps and chocolates successfully eaten Grin

My waistline isn't thanking me Blush

Jewelanemone · 02/01/2023 12:24

Loads and flipping loads of chocolates and sweet stuff left. And, for some reason, we've got lots of unopened jars of chutney and jam. No cheese left to go with the chutney, sadly. I think there's a frozen Black Forest Gateaux lurking in the freezer too. It's on my mind a lot.

LindaEllen · 02/01/2023 12:26

We have no normal food whatsoever, but piles of chocolate (as my mum always makes us a massive chocolate hamper every year which literally lasts until Easter). The choc doesn't bother me as we just carry on chipping away at it until it's gone. When I go back to calorie counting tomorrow the choc hamper will be my treats in an evening!

TheSingingBean · 02/01/2023 12:27

No one wants the Gouda?!

OP, what’s wrong with you? I’m tempted to say I’ll come and take it off your hands……

PigeonPerchingOnMyWall · 02/01/2023 12:28

We have lots of chocolates, nuts, biscuits, mince pies and alcohol left!
At least they are mainly things that will keep, although they won’t be kept for long before they are eaten/drank.

Pterrydactyl · 02/01/2023 12:31

Noooooo.

We have 2 packets of pigs in blankets in the freezer, a small Christmas pudding, some stollen, 2 packets of mince pies and half a tub of Celebrations left.

Plus, we were given 2 hampers for Christmas, one of them a cheese hamper, and a very generous amount of chocolate 😋

I’m currently wondering just how freezable cheese is.

Pterrydactyl · 02/01/2023 12:32

Oh, and there’s also an unopened bottle of Prosecco left 🤷‍♀️

Ah yes, we've got stacks of booze left. Trying to cut right down in January so it's all shut away in a cupboard.
