This year I’m patting myself on the back - almost all Christmas food has been eaten and it’s the last day of the holidays.

Leftovers as of today:
A sliver of Red Leicester
A big chunk of Gouda
An unopened Brie
A box of crackers
A few Bendicks bitter mints

It will all be eaten in the next 1-2 days, except the Gouda no one wants - I’ll chop it and put it out for the blackbirds.

I’m counting this as zero waste 😊

What helped massively was hosting a little neighbours’ get together on the 28th (hot drinks and all uneaten sweet stuff laid out) - worked like a charm.

I don't understand the concept of having chocolate left. Doesn't last 5 mins in this house.

Me either. When a previous poster mentioned having Lindt balls left over my brain short-circuited. Simply does not compute.

Secnarf · 02/01/2023 20:39

Not done badly here…

2 meals worth of turkey in the freezer
A small biscuit tin of lebkuchen, which will come to work with me tomorrow

…Except we were given 2 panettones, which are still unopened.

Cherrysoup · 02/01/2023 20:39

My Dh bought me 2 lots of liqueur chocolates, I just can’t face the 2nd box. I might put them in the staff room at work.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 02/01/2023 20:44

One box of crackers for cheese, one panettone, half a box of mince pies, two boxes chocolates.
I think that’s all that’s left.

Pterrydactyl · 02/01/2023 13:06

Thanks, that’s good to know.

I think I’ll have a proper look at the cheese tonight with a view to keeping some pieces out for January, and freezing most of it.

Yep

About half a Christmas cake and a bag of Christmas biscuits, two meals’ worth of turkey (in the freezer), three Bendicks mints, a couple of bags of nuts in shells and a bag of roast peanuts.

AudTheDeepMinded · 02/01/2023 21:31

One large box of assorted turkish delight
one unopened box of crackers for cheese
3-4 unopened cheeses
one unopened tub of brandy butter (will it freeze)
Luxury coleslaw, think needs to be chucked
part baked rolls and baguettes
smidge of salted caramel brandy cream
one portion of christmas pudding.
Loads of booze.

AudTheDeepMinded · 02/01/2023 21:32

oh, and some nuts and have frozen one meals worth of cubed turkey meat.

Oblomov22 · 02/01/2023 21:33

Tonnes left. Getting on my nerves now. Still ploughing through stuff.

NoNameNowAgain · 02/01/2023 21:43

one unopened tub of brandy butter (will it freeze)
Until next Christmas? I don’t see why not, but it lasts months in the fridge anyway. It’s nice with baked apples.

Gunner1510 · 02/01/2023 22:31

A lot of alcohol!! Luckily it lasts just need find space for it! Loads and loads of cheese which has long use by date and some crackers. Also have an Xmas pud but might not get eaten so might give it away. We had a lot less food this year so it’s less left over.

Wetblanket78 · 03/01/2023 00:52

Still lots of cheese and some of the turkey crown with cranberry and sausage stuffing from new years day dinner. Which was bloomin gorgeous enjoyed it more than the turkey on Christmas day. Finished off the stollen tonight. The gingerbread house keeps looking at me though.

NoNameNowAgain · 03/01/2023 03:49

Oh yes, stollen. We are half way through the second one.

caringcarer · 03/01/2023 04:36

A large beef I am roasting tomorrow.
So much cheeses left.
Shortbread in tin.
Treeslets x 2 tubs.
Tub of heroes unopened
After eights half box
Turkey in freezer I got half price.
Turkey crown in freezer I got half price.
Very large beef in freezer.

Went to sons Xmas day then on to MiL Boxing day. Then DH and I both got heavy colds so not ate much.

mickandrorty · 03/01/2023 05:35

working on it! just packed my DH off to work with a whole chocolate orange, a half eaten bag of crisps and half a bag of nuts included in his lunch box! will keep doing that until all that stuffs gone. The 2 tubs & 2 bags of sweets will keep the kids in treats for a while and that's all we have left.

Quent · 03/01/2023 07:17

I've deliberately stashed a fancy nut roast and some pigs in blankets in the freezer, and a leftover christmas pud in the pantry. Nobody wants them now, but we'll appreciate them at the end of January when Christmas seems like a distant memory.

I want a pantry!

Check the date on your Christmas pudding. It will probably just improve ready for next Christmas!

Me either. When a previous poster mentioned having Lindt balls left over my brain short-circuited. Simply does not compute.

I have a large box of Ferreo Roche, half a box of Thorntons, a full box of Fry's, a medium box of hotel Chocolat and a large box of hotel Chocolat.

There is also two more boxes of chocolate treats in the box.

Ds has tonnes of chocolate left but I think DH has demolished most of his (he had less than us)

I may have bought a stollen and another box of mince pies to feed DH.

I don't understand how people can eat all the chocolate by new year.

The game is to make it last til Easter here.

Rosesandstars · 03/01/2023 22:49

No, I still have lots left but I'm very overweight so sticking to 1500 cals now! Maybe then I can indulge next Christmas at a size 12/14 and feel less bad about doing so!

Our xmas pud had bb date of June 2021 - had it xmas day, it was delicious!! Sainsbury's TTD Hidden Cherry Centre Christmas Pudding.

I've got a fruitcake from 2019, I made six, this is the last one. Wrapped each in baking paper then tinfoil, unwrap once a month and feed more brandy then rewrap and back into tin in understairs cupboard. Fabulous! Mrs Beetons recipe, one slice will put you over the driving limit!

mastertomsmum · 03/01/2023 23:07

Have hardly started the biscuits, panettone etc. yet because a.) we are one day back at work and not yet back at school and b.) dates on the treats are long so they can get you through the winter gloom

When people say they’ve eaten all the chocolate by New Year, I can only imagine that they didn’t have much in the first place.

We’ve got loads of unopened chocolate. Most of it gifts, it’ll be eaten slowly over the next few months.

And we already had in several big chocolate tubs (Celebrations etc), mince pies, stollen, Christmas Yule log.

We’d have all made ourselves ill if we’d tried eating all the chocolate and other sweet food before New Year’s.

boatyardblues · 03/01/2023 23:20

Exactly so. One small box of Lindor, a slightly larger box of M&S knock off lindor and a single tray box of cherry liqueurs for 4 of us + house guest. My friend took pity on my boys and gave us a bag of Celebrations from her chocolate gift haul.

BadgerLovesMash · 03/01/2023 23:53

Just sorted the table of goodies so we can go back to using it!!

Bag for life of various crisps which will get eaten in packed lunches.

2 tubs of chocolate - again treats in the packed lunch!

3 packs of part baked baguettes.

Tub of odds and ends of chocolates. Think half chocolate orange etc.

5 small bars of my vegan chocolate.

Poptarts

2 packets of gluten free crackers.

1 vegan camembert

Vegan ice cream

1 pack of mince pies

Pastry - making cheese straws and butternut squash & feta pasties tomorrow.

The girls have a bag each of their stocking/selection box chocolates which they will eat for puddings/treat.

More than in previous years as dds weren't really snacking and I didnt get it all out until later. Will buy less next year.
