What is your husband buying you for Christmas this year?

I need some inspiration. My husband has asked me what I want for Christmas and I'm drawing a blank!
Only thing I can think of is the new (regular) reading kindle with the light. But there's nothing wrong with my old kindle (with no light)...so not sure I want it gathering dust.
What have you all asked this year?
Or what would you really like?

A church pew - I've always wanted one in our hallway!

@AlwaysLatte that's very cool!

No idea. He’ll ask what I want but I can’t think of anything this year. I was thinking something inexpensive like chocolates because I want skincare for my birthday, second week of January, which will probably be reduced.

There’s lots of things I would like but we can’t afford them.

TheSproutOfWrath · 22/11/2022 17:49

I am getting a new pair of road running shoes and trail running shoes plus a pair of waterproof socks .
It's my birthday the week before so they will be split across the two.
I've got us him Waterboys gig tickets for next year too.

Firstshoes · 22/11/2022 17:59

A lovely handbag and purse. I've chosen myself online but won't look at the real thing when it comes. Will be wrapped and under the tree on Christmas morning....at least I know I like it Grin

Ghd hot brush

DilemmaDelilah · 22/11/2022 18:09

We decided to buy each other a cookery course so we can learn new things together. We already have loads of 'stuff' and are trying not to gather any more!

MorningMeditation · 22/11/2022 18:11

Tickets for a concert and comedian, new AirPods and then some bits he’ll choose. He usually gets me some nice loungewear, pjs, vegan toiletries/chocolates.

A coffee machine.

One of those colour and style sessions were they tell you what to wear for your shape and colouring

ferneytorro · 22/11/2022 18:33

I have asked for the new Bob Mortimer novel and a book on the etymology of words. Requested/suggested that they are bought from one of the second hand booksellers because I am tight and it is a joint bank account the ones from World of Books are like new.

I'd rather gnaw my own arm off than ask for something expensive/a big treat (my issue I know).

A dry robe to make kayaking / paddleboarding a warmer experience in the spring
A pair of lego blue print patterned cushion covers
A new Panasonic hair dryer
Some lego

A coffee machine is a wonderful gift. I got one last year & loved it ... unfortunately I don't drink coffee anymore now 😕

We don’t discuss what we buy each other they’re surprises. I thought that was normal but clearly we’re in the minority!

I was always most insistent on this, but actually I asked for specifics last year and it was actually much better. He did get me a surprise too though.

One year he asked for something and totally forgot so had the best of both worlds.

Topseyt123 · 23/11/2022 04:18

I'd just be happy with Amazon vouchers that I can spend on books or kindle books. Orook vouchers. Those are what we often get each other.

i don't want chocolate, and I don't use make up or perfumes. I dislike candles and fear them as a fire hazard so wouldn't want those in the house.

LaTangerina · 22/11/2022 17:23

@xogossipgirlxo thank you! I think so too. In fact I asked him what he would like! I'm getting him a few small surprises though too.

I chose a gift for my husband, but told him beforehand to check if he’s happy with it. In my country we also give small gifts on 6th of December, and me and my husband also chose what we want to get. I even ordered my own one and my husband picked his in supermarket🤣 I really don’t like the factor of disappointment when you get a surprise gift, i.e. my mum bought me once PJs. It’s nice practical gift, but they had polar bear printed☹️ I am quite fussy about stuff, and would never choose pjs like this. I wore them until they died, but they were never my favourite. This is why we always tell what we want to get, so at least we don’t have to pretend we’re pleased with gifts in front of each other.

Slippers that actually fit, I hope 😁

Fitflop have some lovely shearling lined ones in their Black Friday sale, down from £80 to £40 but an extra 15% off with WELCOME15 (I have just indulged!).”

thank you! Wishing you toasty feet 😁

pinkksugarmouse · 23/11/2022 22:38

I’m a bit excited. DH and I bought two Christmas presents already for me. I know exactly what they are as he got me to specifically choose them. I was happy with them but I thought it would be nice to have a surprise and behold. I reached down ready to unpack a bag of groceries he came in the house with the other day and there was a box. Plain brown. DH said oh not that it’s a Christmas present for you. 😁🎁🎄

Spirini · 23/11/2022 23:37

My DH has very little imagination so I give him a list to choose from, it has the following on it;

Anine bing sweatshirt
NB trainers
Neom diffuser
Nars mini bronzer
Smashbox matte eye palette

LHReturns · 23/11/2022 23:44

Breast lift, I hope.

reluctantbrit · 24/11/2022 07:46

I love my kindle paperwhite, so much better reading in the dark (insomnia sufferer here).

It's my birthday in December as well, so I give DH a joint list:
Book - I hate kindle for factual books
new baking tins - upgrade from my cheap ones
voucher for a baking class for Spring
Christmas baking class (I do assume I will get it for my birthday)
Red Panda experience (will be a joint gift for DD and me)
Weighted blanket

GuyFawkesDay · 24/11/2022 07:50

Robot vac. Sad but true! One hairy dog in the house means we are constantly sweeping and hoovering floors. Not after Santa comes we won't be!!!

SkiingIsHeaven · 24/11/2022 08:16

I don't need anything but would love it if he arranged a weekend away.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/11/2022 07:51

OP, I’ve had both, and I love the lit-up Kindle. I read in bed a lot, so can do it at (often) sleepless 3 am without disturbing dh.

Except for the usual chocolates this year (lit up Kindle was a previous 🎄present) I’ve told him not to bother - there’s nothing I particularly want or need. (Except a £££££ coat, but it’ll never look half as good on me as it does on the model in the pic anyway)

I’m going to do what I did a couple of years ago - go and do a big shop just for the food bank, and tell him that’s his present to me. No use getting him to do it - without a detailed list he wouldn’t know what’s best to get.

A present I did ask for a few years ago - I had to circle the size and style in the catalogue or he’d have got the wrong ones - was my lovely sheepskin house boots from Celtic. I absolutely live in them in winter - and especially now, toasty warm feet make all the difference.

The food bank shop is the real spirit of Christmas. You must be a lovely person. I think I’m going to borrow your idea

A hoodie........we go to lots of gigs and try to always buy merch direct from the bands on the day or from their websites so they get the money themselves. I haven't specified a band, just a hoodie and must be overhead rather than zipped.........when we had this conversation in October DH decided he knew exactly what would be just the thing and was very pleased with himself.

Fast forward to last week and he'd forgotten both the conversation and what would be just the thing so he's frantically conversing with DD to work out what to do 😂

He has in the past been very miffed when I say I don't trust him to go to the shop for crisps but may have now decided I'm right!!!!!
