What is your husband buying you for Christmas this year?

I need some inspiration. My husband has asked me what I want for Christmas and I'm drawing a blank!
Only thing I can think of is the new (regular) reading kindle with the light. But there's nothing wrong with my old kindle (with no light)...so not sure I want it gathering dust.
What have you all asked this year?
Or what would you really like?

I've had almost all the iterations of Kindle since they began and the current Paperwhite is by far and away the best one. Not much more than the regular one with lights at the moment because of Black Friday prices, either. It's not just the lights - the screen is bigger, sharper, has warm lighting you can use to read before bed (or just because it looks nicer!), and it's waterproof so you can read in the bath. I can't recommend it enough. I use mine every day.

DH is buying me a new bass (Fender Mustang in Sherwood Green Metallic, for those who are interested!). I'm so excited I may die.

We both struggle with what to buy each other and usually I draw a blank when he asks what I want. What doesn't help is my birthday is late November so anyone who asks me what I want for Xmas I have no idea! We are fortunate enough that when either of us would like something we usually just buy it, so a spending ban comes in few months before Xmas 😂 this year though I have been able to give him actual ideas. We are going to the British Grand Prix next year so said I would like a McLaren top to wear there. And then I've asked for some new make up brushes as mine are so so old (although this involves me picking the exact ones I would like)! 😂

I've a November birthday too, it does make it harder doesn't it?

That's great thanks for telling me that, if I go with a kindle I'll probably go with the paperwhite then.
Your gift sounds well thought out, lots of points for your husband!

So does the paperwhite have this Amber light setting? Would you recommend over the regular kindle?

Yes to both! Honestly OP get one, you won't be disappointed.

The battery lasts for weeks not hours.

It looks like a book not a screen. I keep the light on mine on setting 6 out of 20 permanently. In daylight it looks completely unlit and in the dark, it is just right for reading.

You can read it without getting distracted by 'the internet', which is probably most important for anyone who's reading has sort of dropped off over the past few years Smile

The Paperwhite (waterproof one) is currently £95 on a Black Friday deal, so only a tenner more than the most basic one.

Yes, this is me, I can spend hours idly scrolling Instagram in bed, or YouTube etc. I call it the black hole, you just get sucked in.

I’ll have a look at the paper white, thanks! 😊

Nothing this year. It's been a struggle and we've both agreed to leave it for this year. It's the mature thing to do.

Lottieskeeper · 22/11/2022 10:00

I don't like surprises, they fill me with anxiety and guilt. So my husband knows to only get what I have specifically asked for.
This year its 5 litres of oil for my classic car and to do the oil change for me.
And to respray one of the wings of my car. Lucky he's good with cars and can do it himself.
And he will buy me an Emma Bridgewater Christmas mug from the kids.

My husband doesn't get reading either (it's a cultural thing), he humours me however & is actually delighted now the kids love to read.
Do you have young kids? I found I dropped off reading altogether after my kids until my eldest was 15 then got back to it in a big way.

My youngest is 11 now, and started senior school this year. I think it was a combination of the kids being young, and I was studying a professional qualification for a few years which took up a lot of my time.
I just felt like I didn’t want to ‘get into’ any books, as I know I will get immersed, and felt like I didn’t have the time to properly get into it and enjoy it if that makes sense, like I’d be rushing through?
Now that they’re a bit more independent and go off to and from school alone, I feel like now I’ve got a bit more down time

SundayAtDevilDirt · 22/11/2022 10:04

This year I've asked for some chelsea boots. Last year there was nothing physical I particularly wanted or needed so he got theatre tickets.

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/11/2022 10:04

Slippers that actually fit, I hope 😁

Bettyboop2530 · 22/11/2022 10:32

We are getting a new TV this year as a joint gift and then he will purchase something smaller off my son - I'm going to mention an oodie but Amazon long version, some bath & body works bits and a massage voucher.

PointerSister · 22/11/2022 10:38

I’ve said there really isn’t anything I need. And him vice versa. So think we want to plan a weekend away early next year without the kids. Otherwise we are just going to waste money buying each other crap we don’t need 😂

Lilgamesh2 · 22/11/2022 10:44

Velvet cape

KnittedCardi · 22/11/2022 10:49

My goodness - some of the suggestions on here as soooo expensive. We are more of the under £100 limit club. I've asked for a nice blanket throw and a White Co. diffuser, he is getting a wallet and belt.

pinkksugarmouse · 22/11/2022 10:58

A JD Williams support cushion and a white jumper with foxes and trees from the Chris Packham shop. I sorted the cushion myself as he seemed to be struggling to get it to check out, use the 10% discount code etc.
The jumper he kept checking and rechecking the size. I don’t know why I always wear a 10. A glance at all my clothes labels would have told him that. 🤔

I don’t mind. He knows pretty much what he is having too. I love him. And I will enjoy my presents just as much. 💝

Fitflop have some lovely shearling lined ones in their Black Friday sale, down from £80 to £40 but an extra 15% off with WELCOME15 (I have just indulged!).

thewolfandthesheep · 22/11/2022 11:04

I dont wear jewellery. A watch.

Ragwort · 22/11/2022 11:17

I loathe surprises ... maybe I am difficult to buy for but I can't think of a single present I've had from anyone that I have really thought 'wow ... that's lovely'. I always act pleased and offer effusive thanks but in all honesty would rather the money had gone to charity. Fortunately have now agreed with all my family and friends to no longer exchange gifts. Grin.

Sundayscented · 22/11/2022 12:01

Donation to your favourite charity?

mam0918 · 22/11/2022 12:41

How should I know?

If I put in all the effort of researching and coming up with it myself I might as well buy it myself, its no longer a gift but yet another chore I have to do because he can't be arsed to do the work.

I mean I know some men can be lazy and leave their wife to sort all the gifts for DC and family but this is an absoloute low of zero effort give making you do the work of your own gift.

If it got that bad I just wouldnt bother.

AllChristmasEve · 22/11/2022 13:35

A Velvetiser. Biggest gift I've had in years as we have a little bit more money. It was a board game last year. I'm getting him a bean to cup coffee machine (yay for monthly payments!) He really deserves it and loves his morning coffee.

xogossipgirlxo · 22/11/2022 13:37

Lancome perfumes and one of Tropic skincare Christmas sets (and I hope honeycomb!!!).

@mam0918 That's a little harsh 🤣
Surely I can't be the only person on the planet whose partner has asked for suggestions for gifts?
He's not asking me to buy it he only asked for suggestions 🤣
Good lord!
