What is your husband buying you for Christmas this year?

I need some inspiration. My husband has asked me what I want for Christmas and I'm drawing a blank!
Only thing I can think of is the new (regular) reading kindle with the light. But there's nothing wrong with my old kindle (with no light)...so not sure I want it gathering dust.
What have you all asked this year?
Or what would you really like?

We do surprises and dh is excellent at buying presents for me. I have a sort of list in my own head of things I'd like but he doesn't ask so I won't share it.
He's never bought me a dud present yet and we're together 23 years now.

ChessieDarling · 22/11/2022 13:46

We got tickets to see Luke Combs next autumn so he’s paying for those, plus travel and hotel etc. He’s also getting me some nice new sheepskin slippers.

gogohmm · 22/11/2022 13:49

I have no idea! I dropped a hint about a new laptop, though was willing to share it with him. I'm at a loss buying for him too - I end up buying booze and jumpers usually

gogohmm · 22/11/2022 13:50

Of course he could always go to the jewellery store Grin

TwinsAndTiramisu · 22/11/2022 14:35

Mine looks at me entirely blankly and has no idea what to get. So I've specifically said a Dyson hairdryer. I doubt it will materialise, he's mentioned the price many times since I suggested it.

Twobigsapphires · 22/11/2022 14:58

we never ask each other for gifts and tend to get each other surprises but this year I have asked him for an oodie. He always buys me perfume too so hoping for the new Gucci Flora. I also had one of my fav pairs of earrings lost on holiday so I’m betting he replaces them too.

FinallyFluid · 22/11/2022 15:01

I had mine early, a heated gilet

Bloody revelation.

They are about £140 on Amazon.

I am getting DH a Barbour gilet in the sales.

What I want won’t cost him anything 🤭

Lucky! Some years mine has got it right & surprised me.
Some years he needs pointers.
When we were younger we were too broke to buy much now we're in a better position.
I've been together with my husband for 23 years also! :)

@mam0918 That's a little harsh 🤣
Surely I can't be the only person on the planet whose partner has asked for suggestions for gifts?
He's not asking me to buy it he only asked for suggestions 🤣
Good lord!

I always tell my husband what I want. I hate surprises, as usually they are things that you don't need anyway. My sister ALWAYS buys me sheet face masks- I hate them, they're unnecessary rubbish going to landfill. I have my favourite skincare brand, and don't need anymore. I think your husband is right, at least you'll enjoy your gift.

sunshineandrain82 · 22/11/2022 15:41

I do my own Christmas shopping, as he doesn't like shopping. He just sets me a budget.

This year I have a thick winter coat
ugg boots and slippers.
Harry Potter lego and a Swarovski tennis bracelet.

I managed to get some really good sale bargains. So it's under the budget he set.

BarbaraofSeville · 22/11/2022 15:45

Isn't that just you buying things you want/need? It's not even Christmas, so I don't understand how things you buy in November can be Christmas presents 'from your DH' when you've done the legwork?

If he's not done the choosing, buying and wrapping, it's not 'from him' as far as I can see.

Just the way it's always worked for us. He doesn't go kids shopping either. He is autistic and finds it overwhelming online and in store.
I don't mind.

whoruntheworldgirls · 22/11/2022 15:49

A smart backpack, maybe a Radley one, need one for days out so i don't have to take my handbag but where i don't need my rugged outdoorsy walking ones.
I did debate a new kindle as the battery is now shit on my Voyage model, but i'll hold off a bit longer on that until my birthday in summer

Gwdihooooo · 22/11/2022 15:52

New breaks for my bike

thenewduchessoflapland · 22/11/2022 17:04

Just very simple things I enjoy;wine, nice chocolate, lush bubble bars,a handmade scented candle I've been coveting.

Money is that much tighter for all of us at the moment and like most other folks id rather money be spent on the kids.

I'll be buying DH one maybe two pairs of jeans if I can afford that extra pair as he really needs new jeans.

The kids have clubbed together for a bottle of aftershave he uses as his has ran out and he won't treat himself to another as he says it's an unnecessary expense at the moment.

Many of us mere mortals on here are working class and probably having the same issues.

@xogossipgirlxo thank you! I think so too. In fact I asked him what he would like! I'm getting him a few small surprises though too.

After a day out shopping today my list is:
Demellier Venice handbag that I’ve coveted for ages but now has 20% off
A trench coat
a pair of Vans (if I can find the right colour)
fluffy slippers
Glossier You perfume
Neil’s Yard Bee Lovely shower gel
Monica Vinader earrings
a trip to a local ish second hand book shop where I usually come away with 20+ books

This isn’t just off DH and will be shared across my family.

AlwaysLatte · 22/11/2022 17:26

A church pew - I've always wanted one in our hallway!

Firen · 22/11/2022 17:29

No idea, it’s a surprise. I like a surprise otherwise I’d just buy the thing myself. He’s very good at presents!

hugznotdrugz · 22/11/2022 17:32

@thenewduchessoflapland I can assure you that I'm a mere mortal too & we don't have class in my country like you do in the UK, but as we have manual jobs I assume we'd be the same "class" as you were we in the UK.
Don't assume that I'd rather not spend money on my kids ... I buy year round to spread the cost which is why I was done shopping for them last month.
Maybe I've picked you up wrong but you say "like most folks I'd rather money be spent on the kids" then end it with "many of us mere mortals on here are working class" - all sounds terribly patronising to me.
Why?
If you're not having a great day please don't take it out on my post 😅
Everything else you put was perfectly lovely including your gift suggestions.
I don't think thinking of asking for a kindle is excessively extravagant is it?!!

That's great, I got surprises last year & he did really well! He's just struggling this year. Would be nice to get all surprises though!
