Would the Lego shark thing be good for an 8 year old?

Perfect!

CakeCrumbs44 · 30/10/2022 22:41

@Elpheba I think Lego would be a fine present, I wouldn't overthink too much about whether the "friends" stuff is too girly/stereotype.

This car and electric windmill is a good set.
LEGO 41443 Friends Olivia's Electric Car Toy Vehicle for Girls and Boys 6 Plus Years Old, with Mia Mini-Doll & Puppy Figure Eco Education Playset amzn.eu/d/7UTTPsA

If you want something less stereotypical girl, this Lego stuntz set is £10 with the voucher LEGO 60342 City Stuntz The Shark Attack Stunt Challenge Adventure Series Toy with Flywheel Powered Stunt Bike & Racer Minifigure amzn.eu/d/4zQ97KM

Carrie76 · 30/10/2022 22:43

@Borris we had the M&S gingerbread house last year. Easy enough to assemble and tasted lovely! Pic attached of our efforts.

@Borris Asda have ginger bread houses for £5

WhyDoesItAlways · 30/10/2022 23:04

I always get the gingerbread house from IKEA although last year I found a gingerbread train in TK Maxx so had that instead. Both easy to decorate but can't comment on taste as they've always gone stale before we could eat it.

I saw in shein the other day they had gingerbread house cookie cutters to MYO

Is Hype only cool for teens or can adults wear it too?! (Wouldn't want to make it uncool and embarrass my child!!)

I've bought myself a few pairs of tracksuit bottoms to wear around the house when it starts to get chilly and I do have a couple of the backpacks. So I think its fine! I would have got a hoodie but none in big enough sizes for bagginess!

But I wear super bright printed leggings, character tshirts and band hoodies so I'm probably not the most fashionable person to take advice from 🤣 my dds are 14 and 10 and I dont think are embarrassed of me, dd1 is often stealing my clothes!!

Howmanysleepsnow · 30/10/2022 23:33

Thank you, this is the sort of thing I need to know!

Howmanysleepsnow · 30/10/2022 23:48

That was to the people who advised on iPads, no idea why the quote didn’t show sorry.

ScarierThanBoo · 31/10/2022 00:40

Not a bargain but advice for those who bought the Harumika dolls. I opened my double pack and the fabrics (although pretty) aren't big enough to make anything more than boob tubes and mini skirts really, so I bought a pack of fat quarters for less than £5 from a haberdashery, I had 5 big pieces for that and I'm having a whale of a time now 😁I'm a 33 year old child and am here to review most toys 😁

Thanks @LemonFrosting - that is a fab price, my DS will love it.

Can I ask for ideas for 7 year old girls birthday parties? I feel like Lego is a safe ish bet- but is the Lego friends stuff too stereotypical? Have seen the Lego friends bakery set is £10 down from £15 which seems like a good option. Or polly pockets are generally easy to get on sale but I don’t know if that’s riskier than Lego. I don’t want to spend more than £10 but I want it to look like more!

Check out the Argos 2 for £20- they have some Lego sets included which are £18 each, including Lego friends ice cream truck & the Lego dots message board.

plus lots of other things too- if you order by price high to low then you can make sure you get the best value!

TLIMSISNW · 31/10/2022 06:12

Has anyone seen any good prices for AirPods or other good earphones?

Duckskitbank · 31/10/2022 06:19

Liberty have quadruple loyalty points ending today. If you register for their scheme, they will email you a voucher in January which can be spent as cash. Today it’s worth £10 for every £50 spent. Could be a good deal for anyone looking to buy high end perfume or cosmetics that aren’t ever reduced.
I’ll stick my code on the referrals board too.

Tamtam86 · 31/10/2022 06:24

Thanks for the hype code! I've just ordered two hoodies, a pair of joggers and some sliders for under £25!

Wait4nothing · 31/10/2022 07:07

I’d recommend Galt marble run. Easy to construct and you make a different one each time. Plus you can add to it. We started with a 100 piece and that was perfect with 2 kids. Beware the reactions kit is tricky (we got as an add on but even I struggle with it!)

Dreamqueen · 31/10/2022 07:17

My Vans order is also still processing, so not holding much hope of it arriving.

Thank you for the Hype code, I've ordered two tracksuits for myself for £27. They'll be perfect for everyday wear.

LilithImpala67 · 31/10/2022 07:30

Thanks @LemonFrosting that's a great bargain Lego set and my 10 year old will love it!

Wolfcub · 31/10/2022 07:31

IKEA have gingerbread house kits and tubes of bakers glue

Magn · 31/10/2022 07:32

@DangerousMouse the best flakes I've found are cupsmiths, think I bought them in waitrose. Charbonnel and walker are also great and much cheaper if you buy them in the cardboard box than the tin although the tin is good first time to then refill. I think Lakeland had them but would probably recommend just going in to a decent sized Waitrose and taking your pick from the selection. Look for a high cocoa content as the grainy ones tend to be the most sugary ones.

@Borris m+s had decent looking gingerbread houses in the other week. So much easier than making your own although making a gingerbread wreath can be quite fun and fairly simple even with kids.

PicsForCliques · 31/10/2022 07:37

Thank you for the Hype code, ordered a KFC back pack (who even knew they were a thing??), a hoodie and a T-shirt for £15! My vans are at the local depot, I changed delivery to my local shop as I wasn’t going to be in and they’ve been stuck there since! Hoping for some movement today!

Not really a bargain but just a reminder to anyone who banks with Lloyds (and i’m sure other banks have this), but check your ‘every day offers’ on the app. It works like topcashback and goes into your account at the end of the month

currently they’re offering cash back on Disney store(12%) Bicester village (10%), a couple of wine stores (20%), Sainsbury’s (5%) and loads more. They work with codes and stuff etc. it’s literally cash a % of cash back that you spend on your card there. You have to click on activate for each store but it takes seconds and all adds up!

ChristmasCwtch · 31/10/2022 07:54

We’ve got the Lego shark. That’s a great price! Would be perfect for an 8-year old if they like Lego.

EricandEnid · 31/10/2022 07:59

I am struggling to keep up!

Jurassic World Colossal T-Rex is £30 at Bargain Max today only. I always get loads of stuff from them, they manage to have good deals on random things my children are into!

smootholive · 31/10/2022 09:27

Vodafone rewards. tonie box code is up. 30% off the starter kit plus tonie. £66. Not quite as good as last year but still much better than the offers on the website.
