Morning! I wanted to try and get one of the Aldi air fryers going on sale at 9am but I can’t even get on the website. Annoying.

everyone is still asleep here. I need to do some uni work today.

WreckTangled · 06/11/2022 08:23

Oh it went on sale at 8. Bugger. I was still asleep then 😅

Taytocrisps · 06/11/2022 09:21

Morning everyone.

I hope you don't mind a newbie. I adore Christmas but also love the other seasons so I try not to think about Christmas until 1st November.

Lots of Christmassy things planned between now and the big day.

26th November - Late Late Toy Show. This is an Irish TV special devoted to Christmas. Lots of toys. Lots of kids performing. Lots of feelgood TV.

26th November Beauty & the Beast musical. Not strictly Christmassy but a lovely night out and I'm sure the venue will be all decorated by then. We bought the tickets at some stage during Covid but they kept postponing it.

2nd December - Christmas lunch with some work friends

7th December - Christmas Craft Fair

11th December - day out with friends to Christmas market and lunch

19th December - Christmas Carols concert

Hoping to meet up with my two closest/oldest friends also.

Will do my best to fit in some Christmassy movies too. A mix of classic family favourites and cheesy Hallmark style ones. We reserve one for Christmas Eve. Last year it was 'How the Grinch stole Christmas'. The year before it was 'Elf'. We need to pick one for this year.

I've only done a small bit of my shopping. I went to a shopping centre with DD on Tuesday and she picked out most of her Santa stuff. I need to get back there to buy the items. I might take a half-day this week to do it. I could order online but it kind of takes the magic out of it if DD spots all these boxes arriving. Even though she's 17 Grin. And one of the things is an oodie from Penneys and of course, you can't order online from there.

Having a breakfast of pancakes and nutella courtesy of DD. Looking forward to a nice wintry walk later. It's a lovely sunny morning.

Looking forward to getting to know you and enjoying some Christmas chat. ☃🎄

Hi Tayto! You’ve got loads of fun things planned, I’m very jealous. Actually I just book parking in London for the 20th December. I haven’t told the dc in case I have to cancel it for financial reasons but hopefully not. Also just got my electricity bill and we’re £600 in credit.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2022 10:45

Morning!

I'm broken. Such a good night, but a horrible journey home (bad fog / shit drivers combo) and then very little sleep!

We need to retrieve the children from DH's parents soon. And be productive.

Yesterday's washing needs to go outside and we should do our bedding really but we're still sitting in it! 🤣 The forecast is all over the shop, so we weren't convinced it would go outside.

Wreck, we're in London overnight on 19 Dec. The kids will hopefully love the lights!

Tiptoes round Fluffy

Biblical rain here overnight and pretty much all day .

Gardens all look like Olympic Swimming Pools , luckily the drainage /soakaway has kicked in so its ebbing .

I am really pleased with the Dri-Soon AirPod -of course DH has linked it up to Alexa , who totally ignores me Xmas Hmm . so I have to say "Alexa switch dryer on" and I'm lucky , it switches on as if by magic .

We watched all the fireworks outside while keeping the cats indoors . I'm very tempted to go to the big display next week if it's dry

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/11/2022 15:21

Ah . next week fireworks cancelled (it did seem an odd date a week after Guy Fawkes and would overlap Remembrance Sunday ) but according to DH searching it is cost issues - fair enough. It is a costly thing to organise

Morning!

The weather is properly grim at the moment. Wet and miserable; no chance of getting washing dry outside!

We've resorted to using the tumble dryer so we don't end up with mountains of washing. Only on bedding and towels, but it keeps on top of it at least.

Work today. Booooo! I struggled to get up.

Morning everyone, haven’t posted in here before but spotted a bargain last night for my son and any other Jurassic world fans. Smyths have reduced the dinosaur from the new movie from £32 to £14.99, still £42 on Argos…will attach a link below:

DreamingofItaly2023 · 07/11/2022 08:28

Morning all.

miserable here too, very grateful for the heated airer at the moment!

back to school for DS today so I am going to sort through the mountain of parcels that arrived over half term. I didn’t order that much but going by the number of boxes John Lewis have packed loads individually. Will get my Christmas planner up to date as I go through :)

WreckTangled · 07/11/2022 08:44

Morning. Grey and wet here. We’ve been tumbling underwear. I’ve ordered a new tyre for this afternoon so that’s sorted, complete pain though.

HairsprayBabe · 07/11/2022 08:45

Hello everyone 👋
Am going to attempt to stay on thread - I know I have said that before 😐

How are we all?

sueelleker · 07/11/2022 10:10

Hello. It's rained here every day for the past 2 weeks-I think I'll start building an ark. Made my mincemeat yesterday (it's a freezer recipe, so doesn't need to mature)

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 07/11/2022 11:30

Very grey and miserable here as well. I wish I had a tumble dryer at times like this.

Day 65600000 of feeling unwell (might be drama llamaing somewhat there).

Morning!

This is taking some effort to post. MN is being dickish this morning!

Another grey and wet day forecast. Whoop whoop! 🙄 We got the towels outside for a bit last night, as it was dry and windy. Then finished them in the dryer. They actually did quite well outside for that short period! Darks are going out overnight, I think, as it's forecast dry with a breeze. Or was. It changes a fair bit.

I whacked my head off the top bunk of the bunk bed yesterday, whilst trying to sort a meltdown from DS. My head is still a bit sore today. Think I'll live though. 🤣

Ouch fluffy!

very wet here too

last night was DS’ investiture into Beavers, very proud of him :)

WI tonight, we are making felt poppies. I have Christmas planning on my to do list for today :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/11/2022 18:48

I'm hoping for dry weather tomorrow , I have checked the forecast , meant to be dry so fingers crossed , I have DDs brushed cotton bedding to do .
And a basket of dark/black washing that has assumed Vesuvius type proerties when I looked away .

I reallt need to start wrapping the small presents for the Dec 1st box , ordinarily I wouldn't but I bought Gruffalo paper in January Xmas Grin an it is lovely .

Headbutting a bunkbed never ends well Fluffy , my DD did similar to the bannister when she sneezed ! Poor thing ,

CrazyBaubles · 08/11/2022 18:54

Evening. Absolutely exhausted today - rain woke me at 2am then ddog woke me for the day at 5. Plus work was full on 🥱

A house along my dog walk route has put up some Christmas decs. They were first last year too. I presume they're just getting started as it's an archway outside the front door and some fairy lights - last year they had trees, a snowman and an inflatable light up Christmas dinosaur Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2022 19:55

Nothing says Christmas like a light-up dinosaur! Xmas Grin

70, we've done two dark loads today and they've just gone out. 🤞 for good weather overnight!

I took a half-day today and stopped off at a big shopping centre to do my Santa shopping. Delighted it's all done now. I just have one for Santa (well, she's almost an adult) so it's not too onerous or expensive. She picked out a few things last week when we were shopping, so I wanted to go back and get them before they sold out. I picked up a few stocking fillers for her also. Trying to avoid tat and plastic. She's with her Dad this weekend so I might wrap them then. The shops were grand - not very busy.

I need to buy a kriskindle present for my niece but I'm waiting for her to put up a wishlist on the family Whatsapp group chat. We encourage everyone to make a wishlist (we've set a budget) because then there's less waste and people get things they actually want.

I picked up my Christmas cards also. Aiming to hand deliver as many as possible this year 'cos it's €1.25 a stamp. If I post 20 cards, that's €25 Shock. And I've a few to go abroad.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/11/2022 22:27

Tayto my DD drove up to visit my sister last weekend and took a bundle of my Christmas cards with her. Saved me about £12 in postage and means I've only got 4 to post.

WreckTangled · 09/11/2022 06:16

46 morning! This is why I only post minimal cards, maybe theee 😅

I’m at the gym for the first time this week, had to really force myself and I’m really stressed but know it’ll make me feel better.

Raised an issue with openreach over the phone line and they’ll respond within two days…

NoWordForFluffy · 09/11/2022 09:11

Morning!

It's sunny here for now. Forecast is all over the shop though, so god knows what will happen later!

I hope you can get an answer re the phone line soon. Too long without internet will not be fun!

CrazyBaubles · 09/11/2022 09:23

Morning. We finally have some blue sky!

Fluffy agree the dinosaur wasn't very festive but a lot of the kids around here seemed to love it Xmas Smile

Good luck with the phone line Wreck

I have a fair few cards to post. DHs family live all over the place and most of them are lovely. As we don't see them often they tend to use Christmas cards as letters (but not in the cheesey round robin way) so I write and post 10-12 cards.

I'm finally getting around to calling the council and getting the names and ages of the children we're buying for (charity scheme for local children who are unlikely to get presents). Means I'll have some online Christmas shopping to do later so I'll need to check out the bargain thread Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 10/11/2022 06:50

Morning!

I'm on my first of 4 trains to get to the office today. It's already boring! 🤣🤣

I have my Christmas cards with me to write once I have a table to lean on though, so that will kill some time. Then I have my cross stitch too, but it's too difficult on a commuter train with no table!

Did you get much shopping done, Crazy? How many are you buying for?
