It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

This seems a good price - neom pod dupe, oils, a candle and a pillow for £42

Free delivery at The Works over £15 using code FREEDEL15

I've just ordered the make your own sprout Christmas crackers for £1.50 as well as stocked up on paper etc in their half price sale. Loads of coloured card and glitter card packs starting from 50p. Their 30 pack of blank cards are also half price for £1.75 which I use for the kids to make their own birthday and Christmas cards.

Also this mega pack of Sharpies, 26 pack limited edition for £10 down from £31. Looks good to me although noone to buy for!

Sharpies

There is also 15% off with code TW15, only applies to certain items but seems to stack with the free delivery

Chunkychipsohyeah · 13/08/2022 22:28

Great to be back on these threads!

@mummyof2boys30 you can also try Decathlon for hooded towels, my 6ft DP has this one: www.decathlon.co.uk/p/adult-surf-poncho-500/_/R-p-309946

Chunkychipsohyeah · 13/08/2022 22:33

Thanks fellow chip lover @Sideorderofchips for the prequel thread!

A PP alerted to some gifts on the Scout Store - there is still a sale on with a discount code and also free standard delivery across the site until midnight Sunday, which makes just getting a few small things worth it 😀

Hooray, my 10th thread 🎄. I started with a teething DD3 who will be 11 in a mo this time.

@RJnomore1 thanks, I have just ordered one - for myself 😳

templesit · 13/08/2022 22:43

Thank you everyone who's been sharing so far.

I've had loads of Amazon bargains for dc (virtually done now) and got some teacher gifts sorted too. Saved a fortune already.

AlpacaRabbit · 13/08/2022 22:44

Original party bag company.

I have just had an order with multiple missing items as others have noted. I just wondered whether these items are being refunded or whether they are coming as a separate shipment? From the dispatch email it looks as though they think they have sent it?!

Really happy with what I have got - Thanks for highlighting it! 🤞for the rest!

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/08/2022 22:53

@Tigger83

In regards to Playmobil. My DD6 got the preschool for her birthday and her and Dd3 have got alot of play out of it so far. She also had the adventure playground to go with it

Wildlynx · 13/08/2022 22:57

@mummyof2boys30 bizarrely b&q have some for £13 online. My mum has one, I was skeptical but we're on holiday ATM and it's lovely! Hooded towel

FilthyforFirth · 13/08/2022 23:08

Wow, I'm busy for a day and miss 5 pages! Welcome back @Reastie and thanks @Sideorderofchips.

This is my 5th year and my thread baby from 2020 will be 2 this Christmas!

Thanks to the prequels I am basically done for both boys including the babies birthday! DS1 wants either the playmobil scooby doo haunted mansion or Mario lego pirate ship so just waiting to see if there are any deals for both of those!

Beachhutnut · 13/08/2022 23:18

@Irritatedmum I got some bargainous reusable gift wrap from Etsy last year and the charity website you mentioned. It's called jumblebee ( if we are thinking of the same one).

mummyof2boys30 · 14/08/2022 06:54

Thanks for all the hooded towel recommendations. I will take a wee look at them all today 😊

Iknowitisheresomewhere · 14/08/2022 06:57

Here is the link for the crafters reusable fabric bags, crackers etc. www.jumblebee.co.uk/hertsandcrafts

If Dunelm start doing reindeer oversized hoodies can someone let me know please? They went out of stock v quickly last year and don’t have any in at the moment.

chillimice · 14/08/2022 07:10

Oooh thanks @Reastie and @Sideorderofchips - my favourite time of year!!!!

@Sideorderofchips my youngest is the same age as your first thread baby and I cannot believe we've been on these threads for that long (and am now trying to buy for impossible teens and tweens Shock)

Happy bargain hunting everyone Smile

I missed them too last year. I ummed about them for a while and then they sold out, never to be restocked on the sizes that I wanted.

Thank you @Sideorderofchips for the prequel threads and to @Reastie for the upcoming ones. I have so many people to buy for and these threads are amazing for bargains, not to mention the camaraderie and ideas for awkward-to-buy-for people.

recklessgran · 14/08/2022 08:08

Welcome back @Reastie and thanks @Sideorderofchips for keeping us all going this far. I've been here forever but have been less active for the last year or two due to life getting in the way. Hoping to change that this year. .
In the spirit of this thread and paying forward for all the help I've had here over the years, I have a giveaway. I ordered some stuff from The Works and in the box was a random collection of toddler books from the 10 for £10 collection which I didn't order and The Works don't want back. They've all got "MEGA DEAL 10 for £10 " stickers on which I don't think will peel off so might not be good for the present drawer but O.K. for your own little one's stocking/childminder etc. I'd say these really are toddler books suitable up to age 3ish. [My youngest DGD is 5 and they're far too babyish for her. ] Titles include Stomp Dinosaur Stomp, Smiley Shark, Tickly Octopus, I love my Mummy to give you an idea. Please only pm me if anyone is interested as I don't want to derail the thread - I'll post free of charge and also post on here when they're gone.
P.S.@Reastie please can you remind me how to do links properly?

Someaddedsugar · 14/08/2022 08:16

That's so kind of you @recklessgran!

Some of the Melissa and Doug reusable sticker pads are down to £4.50 on Amazon - they're quite large so good for wrapping as an extra.

NightOwl101 · 14/08/2022 08:24

Has anyone seen any football related stuff for a 9 year old? I've ordered a net with holes in for tricks but it all seems to be very same same online

Someaddedsugar · 14/08/2022 08:27

Last year someone found some personalised footballs @NightOwl101 - I can't remember which shop it was but there was a number of styles that you could get a name printed onto?

recklessgran · 14/08/2022 08:28

Books are claimed everyone - thanks for your interest.

NightOwl101 · 14/08/2022 08:31

LostMyRubySlippers thanks for the sharpies link, my 9 YO has got really into art and crafts again so I think they'll be a good present and I have her birthday just before Christmas too

My son (10) bought himself this with some birthday money and loves setting it up in the garden to do a bit of football training.

@Someaddedsugar I think it was We Print Balls I ordered a couple for 2 of my great nephews and they were well received. I paid £10 each for them last year - I think it was a half price offer or something like that.

BigEaredBob · 14/08/2022 08:46

Just to say that some of the Jim Kay illustrated Harry Potter books are down to £16 on Amazon at the moment. I am debating whether to pre order the Order of the Phoenix as we have all the others but my eldest has read all of the Harry Potter books and my youngest isn’t old enough yet.
