It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

Fortnum & Mason have a summer sale on, obviously still expensive but a few things might make nice gifts e.g. their picnic backpacks, some food stuff. However, I did notice that Mountain Warehouse also sell picnic backpacks at much more reasonable prices - £30 in the sale for a 4 person one. So much more practical than a traditional picnic hamper!

Thanks so much for all the tips. I have checked out Vinted and will keep an eye on it to see if anything good comes up. I too blame Disney plus 🤣

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Board game £4.98 amzn.to/3wHuInZ
Got one for dd who loves the books.

@Talisin thanks for the post about turtle dove gloves. I’ve seen them on here for years but never bought any, until
now.

I noticed they had a ‘one of a kind’ section where the gloves were £12 a pair. With the code, less than £10 a pair with free delivery.

@Adelais thank for this. I have Wimpy kid obsessed son who will love this. I find the books a bit random tbh😂

sycamorescrumptious · 21/08/2022 10:26

Thanks for the turtle doves bargain - I've been wanting some of these for working from home for a few years but could never justify the price - at less than £10 a pair im thrilled!

Irritatedmum · 21/08/2022 10:29

@Motherofalegend I’ve never gone for the Turtle Doves either but I have now! Less than a tenner. Thank you :)

AlabamaWorley22 · 21/08/2022 10:47

I also read about the turtle doves for years but finally got a pair last winter and they were ace for working from home. I tend to find my hands get cold easily so these kept me warm and still allowed me to type away happily.

I got my mum a pair with the £10/12 offer recently so hope she loves them too.

@Adelais thanks for the Wimpy Kid game idea - we are big fans in this house so this will go down well 😀

Someone who makes things to give as Christmas presents might be interested in the latest offers at poundfabrics.

examples: dinosaur pumpkins polycotton at £1 per metre, Rose and Hubble sheep fabric , four colours in cotton poplin, at £2.99/ metre and organic cotton poplin pirate animals in three colours at £3:25/metre.

They have some Christmas fabrics starting at £2:50/metre.

I can’t see a way round paying postage, but delivery is quick.

This Little Tikes train set is down to £9.50 in Argos, still about £30 elsewhere....

Not necessarily a bargain but for anyone who likes to shop early before the popular items sell out, M&S have just added some xmas items on their website. Quite hard to find but most are on their new in page.

Fragrance oils www.marksandspencer.com/set-of-2-fragrance-oils/p/hbp60555589

Light up candles www.marksandspencer.com/mandarin-cinnamon-and-clove-light-up-candle/p/hbp60555602

Garlands www.marksandspencer.com/gold-light-up-leaf-garland/p/hbp60555152

Lots more including baubles, lights and stockings etc

I've finally made an order with The Original Party Bag Co. Some schleich and Papo animals and some other bits for my kids stockings. I usually buy for a local charity who distribute toy bundles to local children at Christmas; some of the puzzles and colouring sets will be great for that - Peppa Pig and Disney Princess are often requested so I couldn't say no to the colouring sets for 89p.

christmaspudding43 · 21/08/2022 18:38

@boobybum what I want to buy, is typically just under £60. Thank you though. I'll have a scout round and see if there's anything mega cheap to tip it over.

@tabbycat985 perfect! Thank you so much.

CakeCrumbs44 · 21/08/2022 18:41

Have a code for 25% off OlliElla if anyone would like it please tag me in your reply. They have some lovely things - I'm very tempted by the dozy dinkums, but even with 25% off they're a bit pricey for me!

clouise89 · 21/08/2022 19:55

@CakeCrumbs44 i would love it if its still available please? I have been looking at that site for ages thinking of investing in a doll for my little girl, one of the cozy ones :).x

@CakeCrumbs44 - is there a special deal or code or just the normal sale? Thank you 😊

CakeCrumbs44 · 21/08/2022 20:20

@clouise89 I've sent you a PM let me know if it doesn't arrive.

@ChristmasSirens it's just in their sales - it's a closing down sale everything 70% off, but £5 delivery and no returns so a bit of a gamble

Saying out of stock for me

AlaskanSnow · 21/08/2022 20:27

I've blitzed this thread this afternoon - bought a blanket hoody from 5oundstuff, some earrings from hot diamond, got a toothbrush timer coming from South East water and bookmarked some more stuff to consider.

Thanks so much mn!
I have 29 Xmas gifts to buy, plus ds turns 5 in Nov, we already have several birthday parties booked in, and 4 family birthdays.

This thread might just save my bacon.

Famousthehero · 21/08/2022 21:39

In case anybody else wants a Celtic & Co code, £10 off a spend of £10 or more with code 10UKEA22 expires 4th September.

Think we all used these for sheepskin shoe liners last year…

single use, so please comment if you do use it :-)

Notlongnow1 · 21/08/2022 21:45

Have also put an order in with original party bag Co. Stockings pretty much done if it all arrives 🤞 The Djeco stuff is great value - really quality stuff.

Givealittlebit · 21/08/2022 22:48

Gutted that my hot diamonds order was cancelled as it was out of stock 😭
