It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

Right who is pregnant and due before Christmas for our thread babies?

Due to have a c section on the 10th of Jan but it may be a thread baby as all my other 3 were early 😳 I'm hoping for post new year though!

Thanks @Possumcat I went for the duvet, only £7.70 for a cotton double is brilliant.

👋 Hi team, lovely to be back for the 7th or 8th year running! We’ve just had DH, DD and DS’s birthday (in the space of a fortnight) so now I need to seriously think about starting my Christmas shopping!

I got a few things in the sales last year including Christmas PJs for the kids and some stocking fillers. I’ve also got a few things hiding in my present box so when the weather finally cools down I’m going to go through it with DH and do a stocktake. I bought some bits in the Frugi sale recently too so need to add them to my Santa’s Bag app so I don’t lose track.

I need to keep an eye out on Rex London for a sale because I bought placemats from there 2 years ago for the kids which are now looking a bit worse for wear so need replacing but obviously they want the same ones!

Anyone else trying to persuade their other half to set up some sort of Secret Santa/budget limit with their family? DH is refusing to discuss it with his family despite every year telling me we spend too much 🙄

I think I’m going to start a few Christmas cross-stitches for people as they’re relatively cheap but impactful, I just need to knuckle down and do them!

What's the app called you use?

Boots have 10% off almost everything online when you spend £50 with code SAVE10

InDreamland · 15/08/2022 13:06

Someone was looking for gel nail polishes I think on the last prequel thread. Boots have an Essie set on half price offer at the moment. Find something else for 50p and you might be able to use the 10% off code with it.

Another bit of a random one, Santa brings character toothbrushes in this house (last year was my little pony and Paddington Bear), this year I'm looking for a Pikachu one and a bluey one. Has anybody seen any anywhere?

SeekingBalance · 15/08/2022 14:50

Hi everyone, I've normally lurked on these threads the past few years. I absolutely love them so thank you, this year my children will be 4 and 18 months.
I scaled back massively last year, this year in the playmobil sale ds (4) has the police van, extra police characters and I got the advent calender as that was a huge hit last year. (Symths normally reduce these again in nov)
Last year baby got nothing new, hand me down toys which she was delighted with. However, this year I've brought her a wooden pram and doll from verdubaut...postage takes a long time but the price and quality was worth it.
Today I got them both a dressing up item from vinted, brand new with tags. Daughters was 3.99 and my sons was 10 pounds so absolutely worth checking out.

FoxsSocks1 · 15/08/2022 14:57

@InDreamland oh cute ☺️DH wants to get him some softplay bits for the house but we're limited on space. I'm leaning more towards lots of little things, keep him occupied for longer! You?

Can I ask about Christmas cross stitches. Which brand/patterns do you use please?

InDreamland · 15/08/2022 16:14

@FoxsSocks1 it's hard to know what to get her when she has everything from her sister but I have bought her one of those inflatable bouncy hop along rabbit from the ELC and some Duplo sets. The soft play bits would be lovely if you had space. DD1 got the Leapfrog ice cream cart for her 2nd birthday in February and she absolutely loves it. Her 6 year old cousin loves it too when she comes over, so I'd definitely recommend that for your son if he doesn't already have it.
