It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

Thank you @Reastie placemarking x

Wonderfulstuff · 14/08/2022 20:50

Thank you @Reastie for setting up the thread.

I've normally done some shopping by now (we have all family bdays and Christmas within 4 weeks of each other so I have to be organised!) and maybe it's the hot weather but I can't get into it yet. Hoping to find some festive inspo :)

I’ve been browsing for my 10 year old ds and found this nice little stocking filler - colour in 3D elk. There’s also a unicorn and elephant which are a little more dear (geddit?🎅🏻)

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09NY81YJZ?smid=AQJON5OYJJD8R&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp&th=1

and there is a 50% off voucher for this robot kit, taking it down to £9ish

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09Y5XV2NF?psc=1&smid=A3LTWNCLVO4OTA&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp

CatelynStark · 14/08/2022 21:16

Sorry - the elk kit is £6.88

Thanks so much for this, just ordered one of the robot kits for my 12 yo ds! Looks great 🎄 (love your name too - winter is coming!)

sorryiasked · 14/08/2022 22:57

@Iknownothing most 12 year old would be delighted with a powerbank.

Givealittlebit · 14/08/2022 23:09

Don't underestimate slightly younger kids for Harry potter! My 5 year old has just got into it massively, although we're not going near film 4 for a little while yet.

Does anyone have the towel poncho from online home store/B&Q? I'd love to know if it's actual towel material or the light microfibre stuff that does nothing 😂

Givealittlebit · 14/08/2022 23:10

Also a massive thanks to @Sideorderofchips and welcome back to @Reastie !

I'm back in that strange time of year where I want to tell everyone about this thread for the bargains, but also don't want to screw my self over with people and presents 😂

ColeslawSandwich · 14/08/2022 23:36

@2under2howscary theres a lovely new traditions thread here - LINK

1stTimeMama · 15/08/2022 01:05

@Tigger83 for our linen wedding anniversary I had the lyrics to our first dance, personalised with our names and wedding date, printed on linen and then I framed it.

Both back to full price now :(

Tigger83 · 15/08/2022 06:47

Thanks @1stTimeMama that's a lovely idea. We're moving into a new house soon so I'm thinking maybe a cushion for the bed or some new bed linen or something maybe. Not got long to sort something and have been knocked down with reactive arthritis on moving week so not doing too well.

My other request is any deals on anything Marvel related specifically Spider-Man. My son has just said he'd like 'spider man's bike, hulk, green goblin and anything that's cool spider man stuff please mummy' lol

@bombemma worked for me you have to tick the box under the price, it's not automatic.

Crimsonbow · 15/08/2022 07:44

@Tigger83 M&S had some marvel stuff in their sale. Granted clothes probably aren't the cool stuff he envisaged but good for presents anyway maybe?

2under2howscary · 15/08/2022 08:43

@ColeslawSandwich thank you!! X

2under2howscary · 15/08/2022 08:44

If anyone sees any good deals for

  • hot wheel cars
  • Thomas and friends trains or pyjamas
  • farm animals
Suitable for 2+

Could you let me know ! :)

Beautifulsunflowers · 15/08/2022 08:44

Morning fellow bargain hunters!
my too tip this time of year is look in the sales to bulk out presents - if you’re going away next year buy your dcs new swimming stuff in the sale in the next size up. and t shirts etc. ooooo and the hooded towels upthread!!!

Also, this time of year is good for buying stationery in the back to school departments of supermarkets. Great for stocking fillers and smaller presents.

What I’m looking for is a great offer on adult Lego cars, and ideas for ds20 and ds15 - thinking of maybe airpods for ds15 if anyone sees a good bargain!

Happy Monday!

Thismonkeysgonetodevon · 15/08/2022 09:17

Thanks for this thread Reastie, and everyone for the bargains.

I really enjoy this board, and usually buy far too much. This year I’m going to be much more disciplined and only buy what I need…hence resisting buying the cute mini radio!!

Next Wear It With Love Future Dreams Beauty Box £40 (worth £120) looks good value.

zeerecords · 15/08/2022 09:19

If anyone spots the duplo deals on Amazon again I missed the last ones! The animal train was around £10/12 I think when on offer!

TamSamLam · 15/08/2022 09:24

@zeerecords poundtoy has what I think is duplo marble run, knock off brand so I need to check its compatable but good price with the discount code if it is.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 15/08/2022 10:02

@Tigger83 have a look at Character.com for Spider Man etc clothes, there's 10% off if you sign up to the newsletter plus they do special offers every week, worth keeping an eye on. They also have Thomas & Friends stuff for @2under2howscary

Not exactly Christmassy but you can get 72 winter bedding plants for £2.99 with code SUSN748 from Suttons Seeds if you order before midnight tonight - hopefully will help brighten up my garden once we finally have some rain Smile

And a big thank you to Reastie for the new thread!

PattyDuke · 15/08/2022 10:29

Suttons offer looks great but £6.99 delivery - just can't do it.

Possumcat · 15/08/2022 10:59

Hi all, just went on urban outfitters to grab a mini radio and the sale is well worth a look…this double duvet set is £7ish with the EXTRA30 code…www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/raine-duvet-set-with-reusable-fabric-bag?category=SEARCHRESULTS&color=030&searchparams=q%3Dgreen%2520duvet%2520cover%2520sale&type=REGULAR&quantity=1

All of the gardening places rob you blind on delivery. I rarely bother these days.
