Am I allowed to unwrap ds's present from neighbour (which I strongly suspect is MONSTER tube of smarties), bung in something lentilly, and rewrap tonight when he is in bed?

Really no

Magrat · 24/12/2007 14:15

only if you hide the evidence .. in your stomach

Blandmum · 24/12/2007 14:16

not!

What child wants a tube of lentils for Christmas???

coldtits · 24/12/2007 14:16

No. Not allowed. You have to let him eat the entire tube for breakfast, vomit them all back up again, and Learn His Lesson.

Magrat · 24/12/2007 14:16

what will you replace it with

some autumn leaves for a nature collage?

a tube of assorted pulses to make a rainmaker?

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:16

hmm

if it is Smarties I will give to dp

if buttons I will eat

actually if buttons I may even let the bugger have them

I said MAY

No. No no no no no a thousand times no, you meanie.

HunkerGotLeprosyFromAFact · 24/12/2007 14:17

Does he have sweets?

Earlybird · 24/12/2007 14:18

Not allowed. Christmas is the one time a year your ds should be able to eat cr*p, IMO.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:18

really? no?

you do surprise me

Twig great ideas, thanks

no you have to use them as a lesson in counting

he is allowed one a day from now until he is 19

Saturn74 · 24/12/2007 14:18

I wouldn't

he doesn't have shitey sweets usually

he has decent chocolate and stuff occasionally, oh and some laughable health food 'sweets' which are some kind of dried reconstituted fruit mush

mmmmm

i knew this had to be your thread, the question is , what to replace it with.
You could reduce the volume of the smarties.
He would never know, would still enjoy some of them and you could as well

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:19

it's a really big tube

of course it may not be a tube of smarties, it may be a tube of bulgar wheat, but I reckon I know the rattle of a smartie when I hear one

OP posts:
Magrat · 24/12/2007 14:19

as a non-lentilly type

I wouldn't let anyone give my kids bumper size collections of chocolates to be honest

I just would confiscate them .. like they'll know in the multitude of too many presents that they're missing a vomit-inducing gift

Darrell another top idea

will you all be horrified if I say last year neighbours gave him lorry sized sack of haribo and ds didn't get a single one?

OP posts:
LilRedMummyGiraffe · 24/12/2007 14:20

Let him have them. Eating what you want is a part of Christmas. You can only take them off him if you can assure us that you and DH will not be partaking of a festive tipple or eating and chocolates.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:21

ooh gosh there are two presents actually

the other is square

what grim food could that be?

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 24/12/2007 14:22

now you're talking.
In this house all haribo from party bags mysteriously disappears to be eaten by mummy at a later date.
Or. let him open it, eat a few and then take it away until after tea , and then again, mysterious disappearance

LilRedMummyGiraffe · 24/12/2007 14:22

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Let him have his Christmas pig-out - it's only once a year.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:22

don't drink now you happen to mention it Mummy Giraffe [smug]

we just went shopping and he got to choose loads of things he likes, it isn't going to be bread and water

he is getting chocolate in his stocking

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:23

uuuungh Darrell you eat them YOURSELF? VolunTARILY?
