Am I allowed to unwrap ds's present from neighbour (which I strongly suspect is MONSTER tube of smarties), bung in something lentilly, and rewrap tonight when he is in bed?

HunkerGotLeprosyFromAFact · 24/12/2007 14:37

Use a kitchen roll inner with tissue paper on it. Or foil. Or both.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:37

oooh franny you meanie!

I bet he knows what smarties are (children absorb though fingertips this sort of information) he probably doesnt ask for them because he knows he wont get them. I never asked for all the stuff I yearned for as a child.

smarties are dreadful for making my children go wild. could be the combination of chocolate/colourings/sugar? Im not sure.
Repackage half of them in an old loo roll covered in wrapping paper.

DarrellRivers · 24/12/2007 14:38

be stong and stick to your guns
(from someone who tries but gives in quite often)

oh god you know what I have got some of those lentilly smarties - have you seen them? They are made with things like beetroot and so on to get the colours - HONEST

they are in his stocking, he loves them

They're not as colourful as they were though - aren't they natural colours now? So the blue ones had to be withdrawn? Or something? I dunno, as I say, I don't buy them. Did I mention they were made by babykiller Nestle?

coldtits · 24/12/2007 14:40

Repackage in a loo roll holder, wrap in the same paper. Or just put them in a bag. He will love eating them.

Nightynight · 24/12/2007 14:41

oh WELL replace with lentilly smarties in a non branded tube.

and you cn pop the smarties in the post to me if you're having problems getting rid of them

onlyjoking9329 · 24/12/2007 14:41

worry not the tubular one will be a toy gun its the bullets that are rattling

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 24/12/2007 14:41

yes hunker, the ones in the Uk are made with natural ingrediants and are a lot nicer then the ones on the continent which are full of e numbers

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:42

ok

executive mummy decision

I am just going to hide them actually, he will not remember tomorrow and he has plenty of sweet things in his stocking

I might dole them out in small quantities at a later stage

now you can come and tell me off

Nightynight · 24/12/2007 14:43

what will you say when the neighbour asks on boxing day if ds enjoyed her present?

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 24/12/2007 14:43

that sounds very sensible. I did the same with all the chocolate my kids got from Sinterklaas on the 6th dec, and that's decent belgian stuff

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:43

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:45

we will send note round saying thank you very much indeed for presents

they are bloody nice actually to have got these, they don't actually celebrate Christmas and have even got Christmas paper and all

OP posts:
Nightynight · 24/12/2007 14:47

oh that is nice. Its the thought that counts, here, I think!

Snaf · 24/12/2007 14:47

Oh, Franny I think doling them out, unbranded, is fair enough. If you really must.

I reckon the square one is a Battenberg cake.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:49

[erk] at Battenburg cake

he HAD battenburg cake last week

his innocent little intestines

defiled by unnaturally pink cake

Tell your neighbour he is allergic to Smarties/artificial colours/"natural" colours/Nestle if she asks.

But maybe tis not Smarties. If it's not a toy gun it could be some poisonous chemicals wot look like sweets and are really cheapo delicacy from the newsagent's.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 14:52

"He is allergic to Nestle products"

I'd of had a peak by now.
totally agree with hiding if they are big tub of smarties but I'm another anti-nestle one
