We have gone away for Xmas with my DM. She so far has made barbed comments about the 2 year old screaming at 2am and 4am. She found it difficult to get back to sleep apparently. not a single offer to get up with the DC so I can lie in, take them for a walk, read them a bloody book. No, it's all just moaning about the noise and criticizing the telly being on at 6am.

Oh and I'm doing all the cooking and no one thought to clean up last night after I took tantrumming 2 year old to bed so I cleaned the bombsite kitchen at 5.45am as well.

On the plus side the holiday house is very large and very empty so much quicker to tidy than our normal sized and very cluttered home

Idiot brother went to Wetherspoons over weekend after we warned him bout omicron . Has now spoilt his kids (he is separated ) and my mums Xmas. Doesn't really affect me but I'm very irritated by his selfishness.

Had 3 positive lateral flow tests this morning. Have also been for a pcr, but given how busy it was I’d be surprised if they come back in the morning. Feel slightly unwell, so have definitely got something. My kids also stayed at hers last night, so there’s a good chance she already has it if I do.

Now facing my first ever Christmas Day away from my mum. Sounds like I need to pull my big girl pants up but we lost my dad at Christmas (many years ago), so I do try to make it special for her. Now she’ll be sat with my grinch brother & she doesn’t have anything in for Christmas dinner.

I have a ton of cleaning to do & haven’t wrapped anything for the kids. Not even sure if I should be in the same room as them?

So not feeling too festive. Thank god I bought loads of wine

I’m torn between 😂 and 🤬 over dh’s latest shopping debacle! Since I was staying at dd’s (3 small Gdcs) to help with childcare, pre Christmas prep, etc., dh was detailed to go and do some essential Christmas-bits shopping.

To the initial WhatsApp list I sent him, I later added (one word) cream!

Which I’d forgotten.

Over 24 hours later (this is relevant) I added another request from dd - again one word - Crackers!

Overthinking as usual, the dingbat put these two together, and came back with - cream crackers!

I was only telling dd earlier that any shopping list for dh has to be spelt out in words of one syllable, so I should have known better than to give him one-word add-ons.

Before anyone thinks he does it on purpose, so that I won’t ask again, it’s not that - he actually likes going shopping!

You see that will become a genuine Christmas memory for years to come. Far more funny and special than trying to force memories. Made me laugh out loud. My husband would have done exactly the same.

DH didn't bother sorting his medication that ran out yesterday till this morning!!!! So on top of Christmas Eve stuff and out son's birthday we've had to run around sorting it. Not happy.

6 year old DD is refusing to pick up her toys from the living room.

She always does refuse, saying she can't do it.

Yet yesterday at my GPs in their playroom she was asked to tidy up and did it straight away with no complaints...

My dd is stuck in isolation 5 hours away with Covid. She's fed up and poorly. So sorry to see so many here affected in similar ways. :(

I want to wake up tomorrow morning and see snow outside my window, but I doubt this will happen in London

DBro is stuck isolation alone hundreds of miles away after positive test yesterday.
Made poncetastic festive breakfast for DC and they bickered all the way through.
Make meals for DC which they are 'too full' to eat, then they pester me for snacks all afternoon.
DH has some sort of ailment...conincidentally it started when I felt dreadful after my Moderna booster earlier this week and needed him to step up. Not to be outdone he is still 'suffering' while I just had to get on with everything.
They all keep interrupting me...I just want to stick the decorations on the fucking Christmas Cake.

Son’s main present, ordered over a month ago is stuck somewhere between my house and China…

Omg we had an argument about something similar. Dp has been off for 10 days with covid and had barely any symptoms so was well enough to do stuff spend the house - if he wanted too!

He picks yesterday and today before Christmas to do all the stuff he should have dorm weeks or days ago. Deep cleansing his car whilst I was trying to sort the house. Then sorting out his desk after weeks of it being a mess then leaving all the stuff he doesn't want on his desk for me to sort out. Making more work for me!

He always picks the worse times. Infuriates me.

Son tested positive this morning so Christmas plans ruined was spending with family but can't now. Was supposed to be working over Christmas NHS but can't go in until pcr result in who knows how long that will take
