Shitloads to do, so dh decides today is the day to sort out “his corner”, looking for a specific cable. Came back from walking the dog to find the lounge in a right state.
I know it will be sorted, but why today?

We have a lack of food for over Christmas as my DP is working until after the supermarkets close (we didn't realise they were closing early with it being a normal working day).
I can't go as my car is knackered and we have no public transport that goes near the 1 supermarket.

The dining room is a tip (and filthy) as it's been a dumping ground since we moved in 10mths ago. So I have that to clean top to bottom with a toddler who is having a bad day and I'm 6 weeks off having my second baby so struggling to lift things. I also have the rest of the rooms to clean and all the baking to do so that we have something nice over Christmas to eat.

I also forgot to start defrosting the pork loin I found in the freezer that we will have to eat tomorrow. We do have a fresh enough chicken that my mum dropped off a few days ago though so that's a bonus. My mum also brought some bits to go with Xmas dinner and told me to Chuck them in the freezer - turns out none of them are suitable for freezing.

On a different note, please be careful out on the roads today - my DP has attended back to back car crashes since going on shift at 7am. It's idiotic driving rather than road conditions causing it so be wary! Can't imagine it's just a problem in our local area.

I'm isolating alone at home with Covid. The neighbours in the next door flat have chosen today to start installing a new bathroom and hall flooring!

A relative who has not been in contact all year for any birthdays etc... has posted a last minute card through the door. Now I have to drive out to theirs to post one to them. I hate cards!!!!

Landed at Mother's house. Everything is filthy and there are piles of clutter everywhere. Got told off for throwing out a plastic bag with a large rip in it "I might need that!" and for moving a pile of junk mail so I had a space on the table. "I won't be able to find that again!."

Hopefully santa will bring me some Cif and a pair of marigolds

Meant to be at an annual family Christmas Eve get together at 5. DP is still at the Trafford centre so I can’t have a shower and get ready until he gets back. 5 year old DS is over excited and is running around the house screaming and has asked me 100 times already today when Santa is coming, and 10 month old DS has just fought sleep all day even though he’s knackered so I’ve got a very whingey baby. And I’ve still got a million things to do. Feel like screaming

I was going to post a 'bah humbug' thread last night but thought I'd get bombarded with people calling me a miserable cow (which I am!).

I hate sodding Christmas! What a palaver and expense for basically one day. I'm sick of shopping, wrapping and all the Christmas shite everywhere. If it was just me I honestly wouldn't bother. No tree, no lights, no decorations - none of it. Just a bottle of red and a bowl of pasta and feet up.

Himself decided that now is the best time to go and do the shop at Costco. Keeps him happy but maybe I could have told him that Ive done all the shopping already. Plus side is that he has taken eldest child to work.

Feeling unfestive as work rang and asked me to cover tomorrow day shift as someone has phoned in a postive PCR test ( she may well have but she was trying to swap xmas shift with anyone who wasnt working.)

My main grump is the flaming cat - I have no idea what is up with him as he is stomping round the house screaming at the top of his lungs, making puking noises which ends up with him being evicted when he does it. In between evictions he has taken to randomly biting people for no reason and jumping up next to me and headbutting me.

Furball? Or just stressed and naffed off at Christmas activity? Sorry if you have to work.

Oh and I forgot to take the meat out the freezer becaue I’m still tired I had to go get a chicken instead because it won’t defrost in time. Oh well, new year roast is sorted at least

I'm panicking a little about all this defrosting talk??

I got my duck out at about 11am today? Will that be enough time?

Everyone arrived home last night for Christmas and it has been a constant round of food and 'mum' shouts.

Eldest DS has man flu (neg covid test) and is now asleep on the sofa lemsipped to the hilt.

DH is livid that his Accountant and HR Manager have despite reminders waited till Xmas Eve to ask for some documents that affect an issue that has a Jan 4th deadline. He is currently glowering in his study.

We are moving in Jan and have skipped our old extra freezer from the garage, so freezer space is limited. I am juggling stuff every time I open the door. No room for bread/bread rolls for Boxing Day brunch, so they are sitting in the breadbin and might well go stale.

Elderly MIL is due here tomorrow, but she has a cleaner who is not vaccinated at all, and we are all worried about the issue, but MIL 'likes talking to her' so will not ask the agency for a different cleaner. End of my tether with that issue. We are all being very careful and in the background lurks Typhoid Mary!!

One of DH's gifts didn't arrive, it will be here on Jan 4th apparently....great!
One of eldest DS's gifts only half arrived, and the company won't respond to emails.

My dad died 2 weeks ago.
Mum (understandably) doesn't want to do Xmas but might pop by for a cuppa).

DH has just announced at 245pm that he's going shopping!

Been saying for days that he can arrange to see his family over the next week but I have to be there for mum so may not go, He still hasn't arranged anything and is suggesting that's down to me for not committing to anything.

I hate Xmas (always have). I do it for my kids. But, this year more than ever it can Fuck Off -along with anyone that gives me a guilt trip about prioritising my mum.

My parent died at the start of this month and I wanted to go to the cemetery today but I have this awful cold, breathless, dizzy bug and accidentally fell asleep and now it's too late to go. And it is just a minor whinge because I know they wouldn't care. I just feel exhausted.

I have no fucking sellotape dispensers.

The postman has just been and the last chance I had for a Christmas card from my friend of 43 years has passed. She stopped communicating with me a couple of months ago and refuses to tell me why. I thought she might reach out at Christmas. So, whilst my family are telling me she's not a good friend and to forget about her, I'm sitting here feeling sad.

This is very sad. I’m sorry - could it be early dementia or mental health issues? My PILs went through similar with a friend who had shared every family celebration, and it was dementia.

Needed this thread. I used to love Christmas, now I could fucking scream. DS 6 has whinged all day long that he's bored and then cries when I stop playing with him for ONE second. Feel like a failure as I feel I'm supposed to be creating a wonderful time with festive baking and shit. Would just like everyone to F off really

I feel your pain. My “best friend” of almost 20 years suddenly stopped communicating with me this year, first I was aware of it was when I heard nothing from her on my 40th birthday. I’ve no idea what I’ve done or why she’s cut me out. However when I looked back through our communications over the last couple of years (we predominantly chat via text/messenger as we are not local to each other) every single one had been instigated by me.

I was really upset for a while, questioning what on Earth I could have done to have caused this but you know what, sod her. If she doesn’t have the decency to talk to me if she has a problem or the guts to say she thinks we’ve grown apart then she can FOTTFSOFTFOSM.

I’m a hermit by nature so don’t have many friends, my New Year’s Resolution will be to cultivate some new friendships - Covid permitting!

Where did you get that idea from? Xmas is supposed to be mildly stressful - at best, disappointing, full of minor feuds and arguments, obligation and boredom. It's the stuff memories are made of!
