I had my booster yesterday and have woken up with an peach size lump under my armpit. I am working but had planned to get stuff done around the house in between meetings but I can barely move my arm for the pain.

It's scuppered all my productive plans!

DH planned to take DD to visit his family on the other side of the country from Boxing Day to
NYE. Food planned accordingly so there isn’t loads of leftovers when they won’t be here.

Has been dithering about it all week and still hasn’t made a decision with less than 2 days to go.

Just mopped my floors and the sodding dog walked all over them despite not moving off her bed all morning

I am away from half my family because they are in another country. I don't really do Xmas as such- because I am not Christian and do other festivals- but I would have liked to have been with them at least for Xmas lunch and to walk around the city.

Still waiting on day2 pcr results after arriving Tuesday night, and tests being dropped off weds first thing. They haven’t even acknowledged receiving the tests we paid £200 for 🤬 tried ringing but phone cuts off, and the messages and emails I’ve sent have so far been unanswered. So it’s a second Christmas isolating for us 🙄

DH cooks Christmas lunch for us. And takes the glory. But this year, just like every year, I have just spent 3 fucking hours cooking the pigs in blankets/stuffing balls/bread sauce/gravy so his once-a-year * cooking extravaganza is easier!!!

(*unfair, he cooks my breakfast every M-F)

My SIL is cavalier King Charles spaniels crazy. Can I find the bastarding slippers embroidered with a cavvy that I bought her…can I fuck 😡. And they were bloody expensive too 😡

Been In Contact with 2 people who tested positive for covid. It was the only people I saw in the last week - both together. Except work, but nhs.

We lateral flowed before we went out and next day tested positive. Now 12 people from their families positive and 5 more waiting for results.

Suppose to be travelling to see elderly parents. I asked if they were happy with risks, especially as travelling. My PCR and lateral flows negative. Been tracked and traced. They got upset toddler style and now cancelled everything and don’t want to see me till January. Offered to go up Boxing Day as it will be 7 days after.

Now either spend it by myself Or go to my friend who is happy with my risks. But I can’t tell parents as they will see it as cancelling because I didn’t want to see them not that I was worried about their risks if I was positive.

DH's hobby is woodwork. Earlier this year I wanted to buy a couple of cheap bookcases to tidy up the pile of books in the lounge. 'Don't do that - I can make them he says' and spends weeks designing them
and buying loads of expensive wood. So are they ready for Christmas so that I can tidy up? Not a chance - the wood is sitting in the garage and he's spent the past month making a load of fancy wooden coasters to gift to family and friends tomorrow (performance woodworking?) - the sodding things are currently scattered around the kitchen work surfaces to let the varnish dry while I want to start prepping the veg.

Can I whine about how my Christmas Eve is going. We had to cancel our visitors and visiting as DH has COVID. Fortunately we have our food so we decided to have Christmas lunch today.

This morning i felt unwell and have vomited my breakfast. Negative covid test thankfully . I have had to throw away the red cabbage and apple that it was planning . No idea what I did but it tasted vile. Did an alternative of apple sauce which I have just burnt. Also burn the top and bottom of the saucepan and the plastic sponge that I accidentally stood it on.

The dog has tipped up my favourite pot plant and walked soil over the house.

We are stone cold sober but laughing our heads off at the chaos around us. I am grateful that I there are no witnesses apart from DH and everyone on this thread.

My mother was supposed to come for lunch and she's decided she wants to have a nap instead. S'ok mum, it's not like we live on the other side of the continent and are only here for a week 🤷🏼‍♀️.

(I actually don't blame her for wanting a nap at all, it just seems clear that it's going to be a long time before we can travel easily again....)

The water tank in the airing cupboard is leaking despite the plumber coming 3 times. The oil light came on in my car yesterday, I hope my engine isn't knackered. DH gone to Halfords to buy a workshop manual for it to see if he can figure it out as it still has oil in it.

After 20 years of wanting one, finally, I ordered myself a Fortnum & Mason hamper, lovely. Then my kid took to items to the school food bank.

We're having Xmas dinner today because DH is a shift worker. We invited MIL and BIL for dinner. Huge back story but basically they're not arsed with us. Only really bother at birthdays , Xmas etc always hard work .
We told them dinner is being served at 1pm and with ten minutes to go there's no sign of them....

So next year it's back to normal with only us 3 .

Is it just requesting an oil change? My car has an oil light come on every 12 months despite having oil it because it needs changing apparently (and no I didnt know that a full annual oil change was a thing)

Parents are doing all main food for xmas. My brother is supposed to be doing starters for boxing day, I've made a (homemade) pudding. He text me from the shop asking what the kids will eat. He's buying literally ready made stuff. Then says I need to get out of here so can you get dips and breadsticks to go with. So half of what he us supposed to be doing. FFS. How useless is he? Not worth an argument but seriously?

I had mine on Tuesday and I'm the same, I feel dreadful. Trying to get things finished off using one arm and having to take rest breaks because I feel so sick.

Oh I hate this! My DP's mum does this all the bloody time! She asks what time we want her to come at and she just ignores us and arrives when she wants!

The house is a tip, I need to just get on and clean it and my 5 and 3 year olds haven't stopped asking me to do things for them since 6:45am. Literally every 90 seconds since the moment they woke up. I'm considering noise cancelling headphones and a stiff gin.

The postman has just been and the last chance I had for a Christmas card from my friend of 43 years has passed. She stopped communicating with me a couple of months ago and refuses to tell me why. I thought she might reach out at Christmas. So, whilst my family are telling me she's not a good friend and to forget about her, I'm sitting here feeling sad.
