Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/12/2021 16:00

This year, chicken instead of turkey. It's in transit to us at the moment, so fingers crossed! Free range, British, big, comes with giblets so I can make gravy.

So:
No starter

Main course:
Roast chicken
Pork, sage and onion stuffing (home-made)
Gravy (chicken giblet stock + roasting juices + Bisto powder)
Bread sauce, home-made, with plenty of cloves and nutmeg
Cocktail sausages (not keen on pigs in blankets)
Roast potatoes
Parmesan roast parsnips
Chantenay carrots with orange and tarragon
Brussels sprouts
Petits pois
Mashed swede
Just possibly: Yorkshire puddings (ready-made - got some in the freezer that need using up), braised red cabbage (ditto)

Pudding:
Christmas pudding (home-made)
Vanilla ice cream for my husband
Very thick cream for me and daughter
Cheesecake for son (ready-made) - he has the affliction that he doesn't like Christmas pudding, poor lad Grin

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 23/12/2021 16:00

LeftieLucy · 23/12/2021 16:04

We were going to have roast pork belly but the kids have asked for toad in the hole instead. I’ll do that with the pigs in blankets.
Roast and mash potatoes
Savoy cabbage
Broccoli
Carrots
Brussels
Stuffing balls

Hoppinggreen · 23/12/2021 16:05

We are going out for a curry

TheSpiral · 23/12/2021 16:06

I don't know because we are going to mum and dad's.
But in an ideal world it would be:
Turkey
Gammon
Roast potatoes
Parsnips
Sprouts
Carrots
Cauliflower cheese
Gravy
Stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Cranberry sauce

Then Christmas Pud and cream

I imagine it will be all of the above but without the cauli cheese and gammon, and with added Yorkshires and about 20,000 other vegetables, which is fine with me.

Megan2018 · 23/12/2021 16:07

Roast Cockerel this year
Stuffing - meat based
Pigs
Sprouts cooked in cream
Roast potatoes
Roast carrots
Roast parsnips
Yorkshires
Another green veg but not sure what yet, possibly peas or broccoli
Lots of proper gravy

No cranberry or bread sauce as we aren’t hosting and don’t like it.

Pudding is undecided, the one I wanted is out of stock. It won’t be anything traditionally Christmassy as I hate Xmas pudding.

Baconking · 23/12/2021 16:08

All the same as you OP, minus the sauces (just gravy) plus mashed swede

Bellafrenum · 23/12/2021 16:11
