Overnight, DS has acquired an interest in wearing nice gear. He was a band tshirt gut and has told me he would love some graphic Ts but is "over" the band T shirt thing. He is NOT into football.
I am so out of the loop - what are the "on trend" brands now for lads?

I wouldn’t dare choose for my teen. Even if I know the right brand, the size of the logo etc is probably wrong.

Voucher or choose own.

EmpressCixi · 19/12/2021 11:54

Mine likes to buy from Redbubble. It’s online and the T-shirts are all designed by independent artists so if he likes unique shirts, I’d give him a gift card from there. www.redbubble.com/

@dementedpixie

My ds refuses to clothes that have branding or graphics on. He gets tshirts from tesco/matalan/other supermarkets. He is cheap to clothe Grin
My teen is the same. He shops in Primark and H&M. He thinks branded clothes are so uncool!
Scandisaurus · 19/12/2021 12:09

Also Axel Arigato is big here

@Carpetsareforflying

I feel so old here. I love next and superdry 😂 And I'm only 30
I'm 26. I think some people are mistaking 'chavvy' for 'nice' with some of the recommended brands and opinions tbh...
Zandra123 · 19/12/2021 12:18

Vans and all saints?

caringcarer · 19/12/2021 12:21

Just ask him for a link. My adult son sends me links to stuff he likes/wants. He won't get all the things, so some element of surprise, but at least o know he will love what I get him.

mrstea301 · 19/12/2021 12:32

My nephew likes Nicce and Forty just now!

shinynewapple21 · 19/12/2021 13:15

I would be very wary of buying your DS a particular brand on recommendation from MN. Clothing worn by teenagers is very 'tribal'.

30 isn't 17 though is it! Grin

TopCatsTopHat · 19/12/2021 13:28

@supergloo

I miss being able to grab a cool shirt from tesco lol
I'm still at that stage, this thread is making me enjoy renewed appreciation of it. 🤣
Ginpostersyndrome · 19/12/2021 13:29

My 17 year old wears Jack Wills, Hollister -and H and M for cheaper stuff.
He would never wear Superdry etc as thinks too old.
He would never wear Nike and Adidas either as he perceives them as a bit down-market - however I have friends with the same age sons who only wear Nike and Adidas (and are not remotely dm. But we live in another area from them).

christmaspombear · 19/12/2021 13:34

Eldest works part time in an Indy clothes store, he says Definately not next, exit to nowhere, superdry, or anything that can be bought from sports direct 😂

Supreme
Hugo Boss
Ralph Lauren
Stone island
Dsquared
Emporio Armani

Or adidas or Nike colabs for gym wear (!)

I suspect these are the brands that he sells though 😂

supergloo · 19/12/2021 14:39

girlmom21 I gathered that too. DS wouldnt touch a lot of the gear on some of the websites.

Some of the brands mentioned here are so expensive - over £100 for a basic T-shirt!

KittenKong · 19/12/2021 15:49

What about ‘odd stuff’?

DS and his pals are mad for Japanese food and I got him a T-shirt with a noodle bar logo from Blade Runner, and also a Skynet one - and some Orwell quotes and some Celtic/Viking designs. Not too expensive and a bit different.

I8toys · 19/12/2021 16:00

So glad my 18 year old doesn't care for labels. He likes what he likes. He wears adidas and under armour for the gym. H&M, Hollister and god forbid Next jeans. Loves buying band t shirts from gigs. Just bought himself a t shirt from Primark. I love that he is not fussed by names.

DelphiniumBlue · 19/12/2021 16:31

These are very cool castramcr.co.uk/, DS3 and DN really like them.

00100001 · 19/12/2021 16:41

I repeat, especially following contradiction in suggestions..
Just give him some cash and/or take him shopping

TheWeeDonkey · 19/12/2021 16:42

Where did you get those @KittenKong?

KittenKong · 19/12/2021 16:47

Amazon (sorry).

I don’t buy either of my older sons clothes without checking with them first about what they want. They simply won’t wear them otherwise.

It’s not even about the right brand (although that matters to DS2). It has to be the design and colour they like. Not all Nike tshirts are equal to a teenager. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And they have very different ideas about what they want to wear.

I don’t like people choosing clothes for me either. So I don’t blame them.

PatriciaHolm · 19/12/2021 17:02

@Hoppinggreen

My DC like the graphic collaborations from Uniqlo.
Mine too.
ConsuelaHammock · 19/12/2021 17:30

Just had a look at the supreme clothing . Feck me those are truly awful and eye wateringly expensive. Surely no normal parents spends £500 on a jacket or over £100 on a white t shirt . Madness !

ConsuelaHammock · 19/12/2021 17:31

Just give him money or take him shopping in the sales .
