Overnight, DS has acquired an interest in wearing nice gear. He was a band tshirt gut and has told me he would love some graphic Ts but is "over" the band T shirt thing. He is NOT into football.
I am so out of the loop - what are the "on trend" brands now for lads?

I'd second Last Exit to Nowhere plus Kraft & Jake’s. These are all in the cool but not chav/hip/designer category

Forgetaboutme · 19/12/2021 08:50

Thrasher could be good if he previously liked band Ts.

Others worn in my area:

Smart:
Forty
CP company
Polo Ralph Lauren
Hugo Boss

Casual:
Champion
Adidas / Nike

River Island is probably best for that age from the high street

KittenKong · 19/12/2021 08:51

Skateboarder brands like Thrasher?

KittenKong · 19/12/2021 08:53

Or spitfire.

Bexxe · 19/12/2021 09:00

Maniere de voir - online
ASOS (particularly the ‘Collusion’ collection)
Tkmaxx - online occasionally have some good ones in
Trapstar

On the more expensive Side
AA BATHING APE
Off white

Jumpingintochristmas · 19/12/2021 09:05

100% ask him to send you suggestions or choose. Most brands mentioned here my DS wouldn’t wear, it tends to be a very individual/regional trend for boys.

jcoc147 · 19/12/2021 09:06

Both have been mentioned already but Trapstar and supreme are really popular with that age group I have a 17 DS who lives in these brands. Supreme is like gold dust to get hold of though. Definitely not next or superdry they are for old people according to DS

Quisto · 19/12/2021 09:07

My 20 yr old has recently bought a True Religion black t shirt with Buddha World tour graphic in gold from Flannels. The Hugo Boss and Carrhart etc are now languishing in the wardrobe, unloved.

Hoppinggreen · 19/12/2021 09:07

My DC like the graphic collaborations from Uniqlo.

I forgot about true religion they are another loved brand by my DS
igglu · 19/12/2021 09:17

My 16 year old loves palm angels but I'd be tempted to go with a flannels voucher because if I'm getting him something expensive I want it to be exactly what he wants so that he wears it!!

Tinseltrauma · 19/12/2021 09:17

My 20 year old likes Urban Outfitters so vouchers for there? Or take a chance on something from there which he can always exchange. Also agree with ASOS - there's a bit of everything on there and it's usually on trend.

Huge thanks to the posters recommending Last Exit to Nowhere. My H has a birthday shortly after Christmas and this looks right up his street.
boireannach · 19/12/2021 09:24

@LemonJelly76

Try 'Last Exit to Nowhere' tshirts
Thank you for this suggestion. I’ve just become the coolest granny ever 😂
ineedsun · 19/12/2021 09:28

My 18 year old isn’t ‘street’, doesn’t like Urban outfitters (thinks I’m weird because I shop in there) but just started being interested in clothes / labels and loves Hollister stuff.

supergloo · 19/12/2021 09:32

We are also moving away from black and into colours! This is great.

dalrympy · 19/12/2021 09:34

Palm angels is good for graphics t shirts

TopCatsTopHat · 19/12/2021 09:34

This thread is telling me that trying to discover the identikit-teen-tastes-emporium is the definition of a wasted exercise of stereotyping = failure.
Ask him or give him money /promise to buy... Though you could maybe get some 'with it mum' points by mentioning some of these suggestions. Grin

dementedpixie · 19/12/2021 09:39

My ds refuses to clothes that have branding or graphics on. He gets tshirts from tesco/matalan/other supermarkets. He is cheap to clothe Grin

dementedpixie · 19/12/2021 09:40

To wear clothes*

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 19/12/2021 09:41

If he used to a band guy then urban outfitters might be more his scene. The brands like duckies carhartt ies trans all urban brands.

If he’s moved away from that completely and not chavvy then I’d say he’s looking at Ralph Lauren, Hugo boss and even stone island cp company, palm angels, off white etc.

I would also him to look online today and send you links with a budget. Then pick ones you want to buy. I always tell mine to pick lots send me as many links as you can ans to just highlight one or two must haves.

Mine are now 24, 19 and 15. The 24yr old is always on sportswear as he’s always at the gym or working out when he’s not at a job where he dresses smart. The 19 yr old likes the expensive stuff but doesn’t wear items with it plastered all over. It annoys me paying £££ for a t shirt or sweatshirt that has the tiniest of logos on.
15 yr old is dd who loves urban outfitters and Brandy Melville. Brandy is a woman’s shop though.

HellonHeels · 19/12/2021 09:47

@girlmom21

Does he want branded clothes or just nice ones? Try Next if he just wants nice ones.
No please don't!
starrynight19 · 19/12/2021 09:53

My 19 year old is into palm angels , Hugo boss , cp company , stone island.
Agree a voucher to flannels is probably a good bet.

dyzzidi · 19/12/2021 09:55

I picked up a couple of DKNY men’s T-shirt’s for 13.00 each in sports direct.

supergloo · 19/12/2021 09:56

This is so hard. There is definitely gap in the market for classy graphic Ts that aren't "urban" "skater" or chavvy.
