If you include Secret santa e.g at work, Scouts leader, neighbours or whoever is on your list.

I have an acquaintance who said he bought for his wife, son and one niece. He is about 65

I feel quite overwhelmed with gift buying. We have about 75 people on our list Shock
This includes a lot of family - DH's side. A lot of the presents are token presents e g £7 voucher to cousins of his I would not recognise but he has always done this and doesn't want to stop.
We have lots of Godchildren between us too and their parents are old friends we buy stuff for. Nothing too expensive but it does add up.

I can't see it changing but wondering if you anyone else has a similarly high number of presents to buy

Oh and God Children!

So total = 20

A580Hojas · 13/12/2021 20:10

4 siblings, mother, step mother, dh and 2 dc = 9.

In theory dh organises his side of the family - parents, bil and sil and 2 nephews = 6.

15 in total. Such a chore!

BettyfromBristol · 13/12/2021 20:23

Six. DH, two adult DC, DC's partners, hairdresser. Extended family get nothing, either because we've agreed it or because I can't be doing with people who are too busy/rude to send a text to acknowledge a generous present. Local charities benefit instead.

AdoraBell · 13/12/2021 20:25
  1. Two DDs and DH.

No job this year so no secret Santa 🎅

14 adults - 10x "proper" gifts (parents, DH best friend) 4x token gifts e.g. framed photo (grandparents)

8 kids - 2 of my own, 4 nieces and DDs two best friends

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 13/12/2021 20:31

7 and office secret santa.

Ragwort · 13/12/2021 20:33

75 is just ridiculous, Do you get 75 back?

I buy for one friend.
Cash and a few 'fun token gifts' that he leaves behind & I then give to the charity shop for my DS (age 20)
Large bar dairy milk for DH (we long ago stoped exchanging gifts).
Cash for the one remaining niece under 18.
A few cash gifts for refuse collectors etc
Couple of novelty items for DM and a charity 'goat'' type gift.
Donations to charity

Easy ... no overspending and no hassle Smile

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 13/12/2021 20:37

75 is a lot.

I buy for:

DS
DD
DH
DSis
DB
DSil
DBIL
DF (DM passed away last year 😔)
DNephews and Nieces x 4
3 x Friends
2 x Sports Coach

I do normally buy sweets/chocolate to give to my pupils- all 350 of them... but covid doesn't allow at the moment.

I uses to buy for teachers but my DC are teens and don't want to come across sucky uppy- teachers you are appreciated honestly!I will be treating you when schools out forever.

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2021 20:39

15 kids from DSs school
13 kids of friends
7 niblings and their partners
4 siblings and their partners
3 kids
1 partner
5 parents and their partners

So 48

SleepingStandingUp · 13/12/2021 20:41

Oh and one 121 plus a class teachers present so 50

fingersdoublecrossed · 13/12/2021 20:41

DP
DD
Family Secret Santa x2
Secret Santa at work
My team at work x3
DD's school staff x4
Niece and nephew
DD's Secret Santa at Wraparound
30 x something small for my class

DP will sort his family (hasn't started yet, mind you)!
We both sort DD - she still believes so it's presents from us and presents from FC.
I don't know if DP will get something for me, so I've bought myself some new pjs. I won't mind if he doesn't. It's all just 'stuff'.

GoodTid · 13/12/2021 20:45

I don't buy for any children under 18 any more.

Mum
DC x2
Nephew
Niece
Best friends x 3
DP
DP children x3
DP exwife

13 in total.

fingersdoublecrossed · 13/12/2021 20:46

Forgot the pets - one dog, one cat.

And if it counts, a few bottles or £5/£10 here and there for the cleaner, postman, bin men, window cleaner, neighbours, etc.

It all adds up! 🤦‍♀️

SayAaa · 13/12/2021 20:51

'big' presents:
DD
DH

'token' presents:
Parents
Brother
Grandparents
Just one of my friend's children - who always buys for DD
Four small children in my family (cousin's children)
Christmas day secret santa with in laws

DH buys for his parents, siblings, and grandmother but I have little to do with that, we each sort out our own family.

FASDE1517 · 13/12/2021 20:51

I buy for:
Husband
2x children
1 x secret Santa my family
9 x neices / nephews / godchildren

10 x token gifts for my team at work

8 x token gifts for dog walker, kids teachers, football coach etc

And a stocking for the dog!

Husband buys for his family, one more secret Santa, me and half of the kids stuff. So between us 36. that's way more than I thought.

thefirstmrsrochester · 13/12/2021 20:58

I think that’s quite a lot to spend on someone you’ve not known that long. But if you can afford it, and won’t be disappointed if the gesture isn’t adequately reciprocated, then fair enough. It’s your money, your choice.

OhFGSWhenDoesItStop · 13/12/2021 21:27

2 DC
2Parents
2 IL's
B&SIL
2DN
Friend 1
Friend 2 +2DC
Friend 3 +3DC
2 godchildren
2 godparents

1 Teacher, 7 after school activity leaders plus 1 baby (but only this year, I think )
2DC secret Santa for school.

33 That's more than I thought! And less than last year Sad I also bought three spares in case someone brings something over for the DC.

FAQs · 13/12/2021 21:34

4, I’d love loads of people to shop for. Also 3 cats and 2 dogs, not all mine.

KT727 · 13/12/2021 21:34

I just buy for my parents, my siblings and their partners and kids and the dog. Even then it's expensive and stressful working out what to buy so 75 just sounds horrendous!

JulesJules · 13/12/2021 21:43

Blimey, 75

We stopped doing presents for adults several years ago, DH and I don't get each other anything. We do stockings for the DDs and until covid would have a family trip in Jan - eg last one was to the Tutenkamun exhibition. My sister and I do a gift bag for DF, mainly homemade things - chutney, marmalade etc. I give ndn marmalade. That's it.

CanofCant · 13/12/2021 21:44

3 kids, DH, my parents, sister and her two DCs, brother and a tenner contribution to the teacher's gift pot.

ImInStealthMode · 13/12/2021 21:48

75!!!! Gosh how do you keep track??

We buy for 5 on DP's side of the family, 2 on my side, each other, and I buy for a couple of friends. Also have 3 birthdays to take into account over Christmas. Sometimes work does Secret Santa, this year not.

If we're seeing other friends over the holidays we might get them a nice bottle of something, but wouldn't make a point of it if we weren't seeing them.

Oh and the cat Blush
