If you include Secret santa e.g at work, Scouts leader, neighbours or whoever is on your list.

I have an acquaintance who said he bought for his wife, son and one niece. He is about 65

I feel quite overwhelmed with gift buying. We have about 75 people on our list Shock
This includes a lot of family - DH's side. A lot of the presents are token presents e g £7 voucher to cousins of his I would not recognise but he has always done this and doesn't want to stop.
We have lots of Godchildren between us too and their parents are old friends we buy stuff for. Nothing too expensive but it does add up.

I can't see it changing but wondering if you anyone else has a similarly high number of presents to buy

Me and dh, 2 children. My mum. FiL, bil, sil, my best friend and her dh, dh's two friends. I made a token present for 5 people in my craft group which cost less than a pound each. That's about it really. Less than £200 all told. 17.

fallhappy1 · 13/12/2021 19:35

All together it's 23 people. Which I guess sounds a lot.

Wow! I'm not sure I know 75 people 😂 Or at least not well enough to buy presents for!

I/we have:
DH
2 x DC
5 x nieces and nephews
MIL and FIL
Father
BIL and girlfriend (without DC)
School teacher and TA
Two lots of nursery staff (getting one thing for each so will count as one each)
1 friends secret santa

So 18! Which is still a lot more than I thought actually!

bananaboats · 13/12/2021 19:36

9
-DH
-FIL
-SIL
-family secret santa with my side
-niece 1
-niece 2
-cat
-dog
-good friends DD

NotAshamedToFancyTheGrinch · 13/12/2021 19:36

Oh shit I forgot the 2 cats 😂
A total of 4 to buy for then.

herestoyoucolinrobinson · 13/12/2021 19:39

Oh I do buy something for the cats too, actually. 😂

housemaus · 13/12/2021 19:41

75 is an insane number!

I have 5 this year - mum, sister, dad, dad's wife, Secret Santa for work.

Normally DH too, but we're not doing presents this year.

MrsPleasant · 13/12/2021 19:42

2 - DD and my dad. No other family, stopped the ridiculousness of buying at Christmas for friends/their kids years ago.

FazeleysRoyale · 13/12/2021 19:43

Stop buying for the parents of godchildren. Ask for pacts with people, like just buying for the children. Maybe explain it's not kind to the planet. You must be so stressed. Drop off any kids that are over either 21 or better still 18.

My list is: 8, two of which are £10 shoved in a card.

Nanasueathome · 13/12/2021 19:46

DS1 and DIL
2 grandsons (10 and 11)
DD
Grandson (8)
DS2

And the dog

PermanentTemporary · 13/12/2021 19:46

10 this year. That's more than I expected.

I only give gifts to adults if we are together on Christmas Day. Obviously for families who all get together, that doesn't cut it down much.

Tbh I bet the cousins are a bit embarrassed to still be getting vouchers from someone they couldn't pick out of a lineup??

GotToGoBye · 13/12/2021 19:47

Friend’s 2 kids
Different friend and 2 kids
Third friend and her 1 kid
4 god children (between us)
7 nieces and nephews (ones that are not godchildren)
MIL and FIL
DF and DM
2 x brothers
DH
Our 4 kids
Nanny
9 staff in work (money in a card!)
5 neighbours (just chocolates etc)

Bumply · 13/12/2021 19:48

I'm in my 50s and only buy for my two sons and a secret Santa.

I have loads of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins etc but we stopped buying presents years ago unless you're in the same household at Christmas

GotToGoBye · 13/12/2021 19:49

So 44, that’s awful I think we’ll have to cut back next year

Lovinglife45 · 13/12/2021 19:57

Wow - you must spend a fortune OP.

I buy for my dc only. Have done for years.

I rarely see my nephews and nieces. My immediate family and I agreed years ago not to buy one another gifts. Instead we come together and feast on food and drinks.

I do not see the point of buying token gifts for people at £10/£20 each. This would be my budget - not enough to purchase anything special.

confusedlots · 13/12/2021 19:58

75? That's completely insane!! No wonder you feel overwhelmed! I have 9 on my list and that includes DH and our 2 children. DH has his parents and sister in addition to that, but he sorts that out himself. I'm not sure I even know 75 people, never mind know them well enough to be buying presents for them!

BiscuitLover3679 · 13/12/2021 19:59

Bloody hell! About 30 normally with 10 core bigger presents - this includes DS and DH who get quite a lot.
Sometimes it will go up to around 40 if I happen to catch up with a less close friend that time of year, I'll do a little thing with a card. Same for secret santa and work and nursery staff and cleaner say.

We just do cards for extended family.

PiesNotGuys · 13/12/2021 20:01

Let’s see

Immediate and close family - 5 DC, 9 adults
Extended family - 2DC, 8 adults
Friends - 12 DC, 19 adults
Staff, colleagues, 11 adults
Extras - small gifts for DC teachers, postman, neighbour etc, secret Santa - another 8?

So yea about 75 people
The first category get multiple gifts so more than 75 actual gifts

CoffeeChocolateWine · 13/12/2021 20:02

12 - 3 DC, DH, 6 nieces (but only token gifts) and my parents (this is often a joint gift though).

Including my DH’s side (which he sorts), another 6.

JumparooSavedMyLife · 13/12/2021 20:06

About 20 including my children and husband, less really as I often do joint presents for couples. Budget is 20-30 each, usually more for my parents (they do a lot for us) and obviously we spend considerably more on our children.

RainbowPhilosophy · 13/12/2021 20:07

28, which has surprised me now that I've counted. I would have guessed about 15 😆

WildStallyn · 13/12/2021 20:09

One another and 2 DC = 4
Parents, grandparents, siblings, in laws = 7
Teachers and pet sitters = 6
And one Secret Santa

Total = 18

TheCreamCaker · 13/12/2021 20:09

2 (adult) sons
2 grandchildren
girlfriend of son no. 1
her twins
my brother and his wife
