If you include Secret santa e.g at work, Scouts leader, neighbours or whoever is on your list.

I have an acquaintance who said he bought for his wife, son and one niece. He is about 65

I feel quite overwhelmed with gift buying. We have about 75 people on our list Shock
This includes a lot of family - DH's side. A lot of the presents are token presents e g £7 voucher to cousins of his I would not recognise but he has always done this and doesn't want to stop.
We have lots of Godchildren between us too and their parents are old friends we buy stuff for. Nothing too expensive but it does add up.

I can't see it changing but wondering if you anyone else has a similarly high number of presents to buy

OP posts:
Angel2702 · 14/12/2021 19:29

Around 20 including family. 75 even small presents would be well over our budget.

Bushkin · 14/12/2021 19:51

Outside our house…
Mum & SDad x 2
Sis & bil
Bro & sil
3 neices
3 cousins
3 aunts
3 uncles
2 distant oldies
5 friends
2 family gifts for school mates
1 child of friend
Nursery
School teacher
Cleaner

Plus 3 bottles of something for hairdresser/beauticians

So 36 ish 🙈

StormyCornishSeas · 14/12/2021 21:42

Dogs secret Santa- don't ask £10 limit
Mum
Dad
2x friends
4 people at work
Dog

So 10 people in total

Should add that's because we are having a quiet Christmas this year. Years when it's a bigger affair. Buy a token gift for those who we are spending the day with

batmanladybird · 14/12/2021 21:44

Too fucking many #scrooge

herestoyoucolinrobinson · 14/12/2021 21:56

DH, DD(19) & one gift for a friend. Our elderly cat has no interest in treats or toys or anything other than sleeping so that’s everyone. DH also gets a gift for his adult DD.

And DH buys for me too. 😁

I can’t imagine buying for 20+ people. For me it would totally suck all joy out of it but then I don’t really like shopping that much.

Theoldwoman · 15/12/2021 03:48

Mmm lets see:

DH
3 x kids
2 x grandkids
DD's boyfriend
2 x neighbour

So that's 9!

75 is insane OP, and wouldn't be enjoyable at all.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 15/12/2021 03:50

Seven

DH
DS1
DS2
My Mum
DS1s best friend
DS2s girlfriend
Friend's grandson

My sister lives abroad and we've stopped doing Christmas presents as it's too expensive to post. Still do birthday presents though.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 15/12/2021 03:56

19
Husband and 2 sons
PILs and 2 secret Santa
Parents and 3 siblings
3 friends and their 4 children

Quasi22 · 15/12/2021 03:58

Parents
in laws
SIL
BIL
sisters
Partner
Aunt

That makes 10

CTR1000 · 15/12/2021 04:05

7 people - DH’s parents, SIL and BIL and 3 nieces and nephews.

My side of the family stopped exchanging presents a few years ago and instead we go out for a big family meal. Me and DH generally don’t do presents for each other these days either.

I cannot imagine buying 75 gifts!!!!!!

pinkksugarmouse · 15/12/2021 04:17

I can’t fathom why you would buy for people you don’t have contact with. Does your DH really get any pleasure in sending £7 vouchers (surely you can’t get £7 vouchers? 🤔) to distant cousins.
Habits don’t have to be kept. They can be broken. Anyone who you wouldn’t care if never heard from them again surely doesn’t really need a gift.

ivfbabymomma1 · 15/12/2021 07:15

DS & DH
DM & DF
PIL
BIL & SIL
Our dogs
4 x my friends
3 x dh friends
1 x uncle & 2 x auntie
3 x cousins
2 x families (they get a gift to share)
1 x Nan
5 x friends children
3 x childminders

So 32?!

That's more than I thought I was going to say! Shock

cptartapp · 15/12/2021 07:19

DH, two teen DC, Secret Santa (usually an old regift!). Two nephews get money. DH sorts PIL. Easy.

Camomila · 15/12/2021 07:21

DS1
DS2
DH
2x Secret Santa
DM
DDad
DBro and Girlfriend (joint present)
2x pannettone's for 2 friends
(+ 3 or 4 cards for relatives abroad)

DH is getting presents for his family.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/12/2021 12:15

Arguably though I don't buy for 50 for MY pleasure but for theirs

SquidGame999 · 15/12/2021 15:14

37, that includes 5 teachers/school office/janitor as well. DH has a big family.

pinkksugarmouse · 15/12/2021 18:42

🤔 I suppose it depends on how much you really know about fifty people, their interests etc and also how much you enjoy shopping.

I like spending time choosing things that I know the person I know well will like. That brings me pleasure.
It wouldn’t get pleasure from trying to choose for people I barely know and the chances of buying something they really like and isn’t a duplicate would be very high.

Redleavesfalling289 · 15/12/2021 18:46

Shock At some of these numbers, but I don't have kids. Actually used to buy for loads more, but now it's down to about 5:

Mum
Dad
Boyfriend
X 2 close friends

Pretty keen to keep it that way. I usually buy for my brother too, but, he said he wasn't bothered about buying this year so no complaints from me Wink

witsendeverytime · 15/12/2021 19:04

My kids, my in laws (a floral arrangement now as at 93 and 84 really do not want any more stuff), my stepsons, my sisters and my niece. I am also visiting a cousin so will bring a gift, and I'm giving nice wine to my builder (mid house renovation).
I do not give anything to friends, my late husbands relatives (other than above mentioned in laws).
