French toast bake, bacon, eggs, coffee, alcohol. Starbucks cranberry bliss bars.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 13/12/2021 23:21

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with bucks fizz, filling enough to get to Christmas dinner just after 3, but not heavy/greasy, leaves plenty of room for dinner and pudding. My brother likes a full English!!

Cocopogo · 13/12/2021 23:57

Lots of ppl saying Buck’s Fizz, I don’t think I’ve ever had it. Is it wine?

AdaColeman · 14/12/2021 00:25

Buck's Fizz is champagne or prosecco with orange juice cocopogo.
🥂 🍾 🥂

Sayhellociaociao · 14/12/2021 00:52

I call it Mimosa and always have done, don’t know why! Mum says Buck’s Fizz

AlwaysLatte · 14/12/2021 00:59

We normally have scrambled egg with smoked salmon, and my husband makes amazing waffles so we sometimes have those with good bacon and maple syrup.

GiraffeDancer · 14/12/2021 01:03

Roast beef and horseradish! It’s a family tradition apparently - bit odd, but I’ll have some along with my pain au chocolats Smile

givethatbabyaname · 14/12/2021 01:25

Is the pork pie thing regional?

LuluBlakey1 · 14/12/2021 01:46

Toasted nice bread with salted butter and different topping so people can choose what they want - chukky eggs, home-made marmalade or jam, honey, sliced bananas, and tea (me and DH) and juice (DC).
This year we are going for a long walk - accompanied by DC new bikes) and come home to soup at lunchtime then a proper meal later on- not a Christmas dinner but something special we really like.
Christmas dinner at PIL on Boxing Day.

VanillaIce1 · 14/12/2021 01:52

Full English and a cup of tea followed by chocolates and Buck's Fizz x

ivykaty44 · 14/12/2021 04:43

I’m thinking sweet eggy bread/French toast with icing sugar & berrys/banana might be a good breakfast

Is the pork pie thing regional?
Must be! Never heard of it in SE(and can’t imagine anything more unappealing!)
LunaMay · 14/12/2021 05:40

We don't do breakfast because we have such a big lunch at 1ish. We tried it a few times but it messed everything up cause no one was hungry enough.

Last year we did a big breakfast instead of the usual roast lunch. It took almost the year to convince our mum it would be ok. It was nice but not the same. So back to no breakfast and roast this year.

N0va · 14/12/2021 06:10

We've always had sausage rolls and Buck's Fizz, from childhood to now. Although, last year we added cheese & onion rolls to cater to dietary needs. This year will be sausage rolls for family and pastries for DP and I. Buck's Fizz for those who drink alcohol, Fanta/orange juice & lemonade for us that don't! 😊

Bigoldmachine · 14/12/2021 06:11

Must be in the minority, we just have a normal breakfast! Cereal, toast, porridge . Maybe a croissant if we feel like it. Kids are far too excited to unwrap and play with all their toys for breakfast to be an “event”! We just need to eat something relatively quick. Lots of tea though

PurplePeach62 · 14/12/2021 06:21

@LadyIckenham

Ham and pickled onions with white bread and butter.

The reasons for this are lost in the mists of time but it's a long-standing tradition. Strangely, it works.

We have something similar which started in the late 50's I think of pork pie and piccalilli! I look forward to it every Christmas Smile
DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 14/12/2021 08:01

We will be having fruit salad

ButterfliesAndDaffodils · 14/12/2021 08:34

Sausage rolls made with sweet chilli jam, fruit, Kir Imperials with frozen raspberries (makes them nutritious, right? Grin)

peboh · 14/12/2021 08:47

DH has asked for a full English, and dd will have some fresh baked pain au chocs. I shall have mimosas haha 😅

SymbollocksInteractionism · 14/12/2021 08:52

Bacon chopped up with sliced mushrooms and fried together served on brown toast with lashings of lurpak.
Fresh coffee, orange juice or bucks fizz depending on driving or working.

Kids usually have pancakes with nutella and OJ.

Samanabanana · 14/12/2021 09:01

Champagne Grin

InconvenientPeg · 14/12/2021 09:04

Crusty white bread, butter and the first cut off the Christmas gammon.

Totally my own tradition, as it was the only day, as a kid, that I was allowed not to eat cereal, which I'm not keen on,and tuck into savoury stuff for breakfast! One of my children will eat Weetabix, as she does every single day (like DH who will have his normal breakfast). I've bought bake from chilled pain au Chocolat for the other, more adventurous child, but he was talking about bagels and smoked salmon the other day, so we'll see how he feels. Dinner isn't til about 3, so plenty of room for breakfast and stocking chocolates.

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 14/12/2021 09:11

We don't have breakfast as Christmas Dinner is so much food, prefer to wait.
If we had breakfast I think it would ruin it for us, part of Christmas day is the anticipation of waiting for the dinner. Grin

mumda · 14/12/2021 09:28

@RainbowMum11

Baileys and chocolate
Chocolate for sure. Not baileys first thing though.
MogThoughtDarkThoughts · 14/12/2021 09:45

Cinnamon buns. It sounds like a lot of work but you do everything the day before and then just stick them in the oven on xmas morning. Smells amazing.
