@TheMagiciansNiece

How does anyone have room for breakfast and lunch??

And I'm no skinny Minnie either.

In the same way as any other day! Porridge and fresh juice at 8am, lunch at 1.30pm.

@YoureStillOnMute

I always do a make-ahead casserole so I only have to pop it in the oven Christmas morning. Literally the only time of year I am this organised. Can do a savoury (sliced baguettes/ham/cheese/spinach/egg) or sweet (french toast casserole, blueberry pecan pancake bread pudding).
I don't understand. You mush up stuff that is meant to be crisp into a soggy casserole? Sad

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with croissants for DH and I, pastries for DDs. One has smoked salmon, the other rather starve before trying smoked salmon, all the more for us 😄

FestiveMelts · 13/12/2021 20:32

Bacon sandwiches. Pop tarts.

Graze on chocolate until Christmas dinner at about 4pm.

So healthy!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/12/2021 20:32

Babycham and Matchmakers is my traditional Christmas breakfast, has been for years. DH and DC usually have an egg banjo .

TheGriffle · 13/12/2021 20:36

We usually have pastries, either frozen or the jus rol ones. I’m now very very tempted to do bagels, cream cheese and smoked salmon though!

FredaFox · 13/12/2021 20:44

Home made croissants (well jus rol ones 😉)
Fancy jam from fortnums or somewhere
Bucks fizz
Used to be bacon buttys when my dead was alive

gettingolderbutcooler · 13/12/2021 20:58

Smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagels, all washed down with lashings of Buck's Fizz and then whatever alcohol is nearest to hand.

@WWTBCD

Spaghetti, maple syrup, candy canes, maybe some m&ms. 👍

You forgot candy corn 🌽 Xmas Grin

My grown up kids will make their own fresh coffee and I will have lots of tea. Then sourdough pancakes with bacon & maple syrup/fruit and/or Granola, berries & greek yoghurt. Although I may have a go at a christmassy breakfast bread with some fruits & spices in

I've never understood how people don't have room. You wake up hungry like any other day. Have breakfast and then get hungry again at lunchtime. We have Christmas dinner in the evening because the thought of having fun all day while waiting for lunch to be served at 4-5pm just puts me in a bad mood!

We have brunch normally, and then some cheese, crackers and fruit during the day. Then Christmas dinner at about 7pm. Boxing Day is the one when no one is hungry from the day before.

Flubadubba · 13/12/2021 21:48

We have ordered a plant-based brunch box- there is so much in it that it'll last us a couple of breakfasts, and the 2 year old is excited as it will include rainbow bagels for her breakfast!

Siouxtse1 · 13/12/2021 22:00

For the last thirty-odd years, it's always been chocolate pennies and fruit from my stocking (we all still get one) and we dip into a box of continental biscuits. Tea and coffee, squash or water for the kids. We eat whilst the kids show us the contents of their stockings before getting showered and dressed, ready to go downstairs to open presents under the tree.

We have our Christmas dinner first course for lunch (usually fish based with vegetables or salad).

And our mains around 6pm, followed by Christmas pudding if there is any room afterwards.

Leaves plenty of time for walks/tidying up/playing with kids in between.

LatteLady · 13/12/2021 22:11

I have a cup of coffee, two sausage rolls and a satsuma. My mother used to make all the Christmas food from scratch on Christmas Eve (think sausage rolls, mince pies, trifles, chocolate logs, icing the cake etc), which meant I was allowed to have the ends or mishaped sausage rolls heated up for breakfast in bed... she would bring me a coffee, as she did every morning and I would take the satsuma out of my stocking. Fifty plus years on, I still do it... it is my Christmas childhood on a plate.

delilahbucket · 13/12/2021 22:14

Bacon and mushroom butties with mimosa's, followed by more mimosa's resulting in me usually drunk before the turkey is even in the oven!

seething1234 · 13/12/2021 22:16

We have my yummy homemade sausage rolls (made on Christmas eve morn) and coffee.

SisterAgatha · 13/12/2021 22:16

My in-laws have croissants straight out of the pack. Not even heated.

At our house DH has smoked salmon, I make croissants (properly) with bacon and cheese or sweet/savoury waffles.

Pineappleheart · 13/12/2021 22:31

Chocolate coins 😍😍😍

PurpleFlower1983 · 13/12/2021 22:38

Chocolate and champagne! DH likes smoked salmon.

CocoPrivileges · 13/12/2021 22:39

Another vote for Nigella's Christmas morning muffins! They are incredible and smell amazing too. I prep them the night before as she suggests and then pop them in the oven after the kids have opened their stockings. Can't imagine Christmas without them now!

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 13/12/2021 22:49

Bacon and Brie bagels.

Can’t believe many people don’t have crumpets (instead of bagels) with smoked salmon, cream cheese and maybe poached egg-lovely!
