I love cheese - it’s a real indulgence at Christmas. I like to get a few different sorts in and always try something new. What are your favourites and recommendations that I can look out for this year?

reblonchon......delicious

Cornishbelle · 30/11/2021 21:03

It's not posh but I don't care, called Mexicana a strong cheddar/double Gloucester style cheese with bits of chilli in it. Delish! Normally found in all good supermarkets Grin

You can't beat a really good tasty cheddar, preferably something a bit tangy.

Smoked- applewood or Bavarian. Applewood melted on toast with little chunks of chorizo is amazing!

Cornish yarg.

Corniche yarg, and stinking Bishop cheese board musts for me.

Every single cheese ever

Philadelphia ✔
Stilton ✔
The pineapple halo one ✔

Love em all!

Pie d Anglos is a lovely creamy, honey like version of Brie type cheese. It’s too delicious though and doesn’t have any of the bracing qualities of cheese.
Any Stilton. Lidl’s is good.

especially yummy

Bagadverts · 30/11/2021 21:43

Old mimolette or if you can’t be bothered with hacking (it’s a very hard cheese) a strong Gouda

A mutate cheddar with salt crystals
🧀 mmmmm

I ate an entire wedge of brie today. Not my finest moment.

Perl Las - a Welsh blue quite like a roquefort, tangy but maybe a bit creamier
Eve - a creamy but firms goats cheese wrapped in vines (IIRC)
Red Wine Farmer aka rotwein farmer (hard)

Hotdogsforsale · 30/11/2021 22:36

Several from the Snowdonia cheese company. The Amber Mist (with whisky) is my absolute favourite but Black Bomber, and the truffle one are awesome too.

Always need a big hunk of Cheshire or Wensleydale.

FireworkParrot · 30/11/2021 22:53

I've just put an order in with The Cheese Society and am ridiculously excited! I've ordered:

Delice de Bourgogne
Cote Hill blue
Wookey Hole cheddar
Double barrel Lincolnshire Poahcer
Petit Langres
Lindum

I also adore blacksticks blue, white stilton with ginger and The Cheese Wedge Company do a hard cheese flavoured with sage and onion stuffing that is absolutely amazing in a toastie.

fedup65356 · 30/11/2021 22:55

I love Red Windsor, but can only seem to buy online these days.

Also love Brie, Camembert, and any blue especially Danish Blue.

I've never met a cheese I didn't like, but my all time favourite is Stilton.

Timeisavirtue · 30/11/2021 23:14

Bit boring but cheddar, but I like the really strong cheese... like vintage, numb your gums kind
