What’s your favourite cheese?

I love cheese - it’s a real indulgence at Christmas. I like to get a few different sorts in and always try something new. What are your favourites and recommendations that I can look out for this year?

Brie and wensleydale.

I'm adding any from this thread I've not tried to a shopping list for christmas!

Me too, my faves. Missed out last year on the soft cheese as was pregnant so looking forward to a Xmas cheeseboard this year

Wensleydale, Gromit?

Wensleydale with cranberries in.
An oozing baked Camembert with some crusty bread to dip
Brie - especially if I have apple or grapes with it
Smoked German cheese
Edam

Wensleydale with cranberries
A crumbly sharp Cheshire to go with Christmas cake
Austrian smoked
Cheddar with crunchy pickled onions

Mild cheddar

A good Stilton for me.

Works for me. I bloody love cheese.

Shropshire blue

Stilton, yum.

St Nectaire, tomme de Savoie, camembert, morbier, beaufort, mont d'or, reblochon. French cheeses are the best and I can't pick just one.

Manchego

Mature Cheddar, Wensleydale with cranberries or apricot, edam, five counties cheese.

Black bomber from Snowdonia

Halloumi

Comte or I do enjoy a smoked something. Or hard goats cheese.

I tried Caerphilly recently for first time. Loved it. My local cheese place does a cheese flavoured with lemon. I think it's a Lancashire, can't remember but was lovely.

Dutch Gouda

Seconding Epoisses. Or Ami du Chambertin, which is similarly stinky!
Waitrose does a very nice Torta di Gorgonzola which is layers of gorgonzola and mascarpone.

We have similar French cheese tastes.

Irish cheeses — Durrus, Ardrahan, Gubbeen, Coolea, St Tola.

Wensleydale and cranberries or wensleydale with apricots and ginger 🤤

I only started eating this one Christmas a few years ago. Loved it so much I eat it all year round now with extra at Christmas

1, Port Salut
2, Camembert served with marmalade, chutney and crusty bread.

I don't understand Wensleydale but do love a creamy Stilton. The Riverford box do one at Christmas that is incredible.

St Agur & Manchego too plus that lovely mild Danish one my best mate used to have in her lunchbox in 1985... Havarti. That's a nice one too.

We're going to do a cheese & charcuterie board for Xmas grazing fest so welcome all these ideas.

There used to be a cheese that was a mature cheddar that had walnuts through. It was the best thing ever and they stopped making it. Absolutely gutted. Berg Kase is lovely as is an aged gruyere.
