@Newdad19

Does anyone have any suggestions for a not too ££ advent calendar for my mum? Late 60s lady. Open to beauty or other options but ideally don't want to spend more than £50.
Not sure if you want a gift one but I've bought these traditional ones by Roger la borde and they're beautiful...here's one example

@Newdad19 I got myself the classic L'occitane advent calendar, it looks great and would be a fab gift, shop around for it pricewise, I got it for £49.40 from Very.

Bloodylovecheese · 22/11/2021 23:23

Anyone got a code for Chillys water bottle. I need a version 2 1 litre .. thank you

ramonaquimby · 22/11/2021 23:24

Re Canadian…..they don’t need a ‘Canadian’ gift. I’m a Canadian living in the U.K. and def not a fan of KD!

Newdad19 · 22/11/2021 23:24

Thanks for the suggestions.

On the advent calendar hunt I also managed to pick up a more traditional style one for someone else which J thought was a bit of a steal at £4.99 from the calendar club with free postage - the same other was £8+ at most other places.

@andadietcoke cufflinks?

Thisisbatshit · 22/11/2021 23:29

@givealittlebit you can order Tim Hortons coffee now on amazon. Not cheap but a definite taste of hone especially in a year (or two) where no one has been travelling back and forth to bring it.

Givealittlebit · 22/11/2021 23:37

@Cmini can you post a link for the switch bundle with Mario and minecraft? I can't find it anywhere!

Sallylovesdaisy · 22/11/2021 23:43

AlexinMotherland · 23/11/2021 00:28

Playing around with the hot diamonds codes and got the old MSE one to work for 40% off: MSE40, also works alongside JEWELS for free delivery

Also not a bargain but recently ordered from this small business on Etsy www.etsy.com/uk/shop/FunBlueBadges they make disabled badge holders in different designs, bit of a different gift idea for anyone with a blue badge and lots of child friendly designs too

@andadietcoke

I have two American men to buy for. I don't know either of them, and don't know much about them at all. Budget of about £100 for one, £50 for the other - both are late 30s. Would prefer not enormous / heavy as they'll need to go in suitcases.

What's the male equivalent of naice but generic gifting?!

That’s a high-end budget for people you don’t really know!

So - Americans travelling back to USA?

You could go very British - would that work? Are they generally into clothes/appearance or food/culture?

You could start with a Marvellous Map (marvellousmaps.com) and add e.g. a leather belt, or glove, or scarf, or socks? Something edible or quaffable that’s UK-based - Scotch whisky etc?

2319inprogress · 23/11/2021 00:35

And I thought I was done 😫

Help!
Teen wants eye shadow - I don't use make up at all & have no idea where to start, she has never used anything but clear mascara.

I've seen Superdrug pallets recommended- is that right & would she need any applicators to go with them?!
She already has makeup remover - for face paint 😆

Newdad19 · 23/11/2021 00:39

Thanks @2319inprogress for the Keri Keri advent suggestion. Really nice and not seen one like that before

Also maybe a book like Bill Bryson’s Notes From A Small Island, or Stephen Fry’s Ties (pair with a fancy silk tie), or some other very ‘British’ book?

If she's not used make up before I'd say the revolution ones are good as a starting point - you usually get a wee applicator but personally I'd buy a decent one or set.

Also I'd buy eye make up remover specifically.

2319inprogress · 23/11/2021 01:04

Thanks thaegumathteth I didn't even know there was separate eye makeup remover 😳😂 I bloody hope her friends will help her!

Glad you like them Newdad19 we have a wooden forest animal one from last year that we packed away to use again because everyone fell in love with it.

notthemum · 23/11/2021 01:15

@TuftyMarmoset. Definitely had snoopy, can't recall sloth ones but only gglanced as I am nearly done.

notthemum · 23/11/2021 01:27

@BeauticianNotMagician81

Hi, does anyone know if there are any deals on the Nintendo switch or are they most likely on cyber Monday? I always get confused Confused
Apparently Morrisons have them for £230. ATM but better hurry.
notthemum · 23/11/2021 01:38

@psuedocream3

A few things left to buy, and I'm now working to a tight budget:

Baby boys clothes - has anyone seen any nice ones in the Black Friday offers?

Present for my Husband - Preferably something that has the wow factor but not too pricey, £200 absolute max.

Hot chocolate bar - any offers on flavoured hot chocolates, or flavoured syrups? hot chocolate mugs for kids?

Primark has adorable baby boys clothes. Made me sad that I have no really little ones to buy for. They also have hot chocolate mugs/sets.

@2319inprogress just to double check they aren't too childish? The description seems to be aimed for children (which I guess is fair considering it's an advent calendar!). They look great though and the exact kind of thing my mind would appreciate

It is in selected stores only - but most Tesco extra stores
