Does anybody actually like Christmas music in shops?

There are certain songs I like, but every time I hear Christmas songs in shops I feel stressed and pissed off.

My opinion is that people can choose to wear earphones with Christmas music on whilst they shop, play songs in the car or at home, but it should be banned in shops.

I quite like Christmas btw

I love it, sorry Smile

hanahsaunt · 20/11/2021 16:25

I love it too.

PerseverancePays · 20/11/2021 16:25

Love Christmas, hate shop music. Makes me leave the shop more quickly to get away from it.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 20/11/2021 16:29

I don’t mind it at Christmas, but yesterday it was on in the shops. Waaaaaay too early!

Celticdawn5 · 20/11/2021 16:30

Hate the music and it would put me off shopping.
I feel so sorry for shop workers having to endure the music on repeat for weeks. It must be like torture.

PinkSyCo · 20/11/2021 16:31

I like it but not in bloody October! No Christmas music or any talk of Christmas at all should be allowed until I’ve put my sprouts on to summer in the middle of November!

2typesofjungle · 20/11/2021 16:33

I love it, but not until after 24th November, and I do feel sorry for those having to listen to it all day every day while they are at work.

Geamhradh · 20/11/2021 16:35

Love it and am trying to stop myself even at home just blasting out my Christmas playlist.

Harriet1216 · 20/11/2021 16:35

I love it. The Salvation Army plays in M&S in my town and there is often street music too.

Bootskates · 20/11/2021 16:36

I do love it but I would hate it if I had to work in a shop with Christmas music on a loop every day

LeonoraFlorence · 20/11/2021 16:37

I do love it but feel sorry for those who work in these shops!

Accidentgirlfriend · 20/11/2021 16:37

I work in retail and can’t wait for our Xmas music to start ! Our company hasn’t got a license to play the radio or known artists apparently and so we have to put up with a cd of some unknown music going round on loop every day and I’ve heard the songs so much now I assume they are in the charts 😂
I hope we get the really good Christmas cd similar to the one we had last year it makes work go so much quicker when you’re bopping along to cheery Xmas tunes :) I think it gives helps with my Christmas spirit .

Lovemusic33 · 20/11/2021 16:38

I love it. I went to the garden centre earlier and came out singing Christmas songs 🤣

Hetyanni · 20/11/2021 16:38

Yes!!!!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 20/11/2021 16:38

No, it’s fucking awful.

Be okay if it was for the actual Christmas period but they’re already playing it and have been for a while.

Pubs and restaurants, too. I can’t enjoy my steak with Christmas With The Smurfs being played at me.

rainbowandglitter · 20/11/2021 16:38

I love it.

schnubbins · 20/11/2021 16:40

Its awful ! I heard my first Christmas song in Marks and Spencers in Dublin right after Hallowe'en . It actually made me leave the shop.'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' gives me the rage . I love Christmas and love the traditional Christmas Carols but the ones played in the shops are just awful .

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/11/2021 16:41

I love it. IN DECEMBER. When it starts before Halloween it's awful.

I play Whamageddon, whomever hears Wham's Last Christmas last, wins. If you make it to Christmas Day, you're a star.

theseriousmoonlight · 20/11/2021 16:42

I used to work in retail and our store only played sporadic Christmas songs, so a Christmas song, then a couple of pop songs etc. There was only one Christmas song I hated (still hate it now - Baby it's cold outside) so it was ok.

I got very excited when I heard Mariah for the first time on the radio but I've not been Whammed yet.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 20/11/2021 16:44

I love it! It really brightens my mood, though I can imagine retail workers get sick of it.

girlmom21 · 20/11/2021 16:44

I love it. It boosts my mood.

I can't stand people who wear earphones in shops because they're generally completely oblivious to everyone around them.

Tomatalillo · 20/11/2021 16:44

I do from about 10 days to go. Prefer gentle classical or choral style and some lovely John Rutter carols in most places but a bit of Christmas pop too so long as it’s not over loud and in your face.

I love the Christmas music on Classic FM and am always so deflated when it all stops on Boxing Day. We found an online Christmas radio station to keep the Christmas spirit going a bit longer.

Moonface123 · 20/11/2021 16:44

I work in a store and prefer the music to the general rabble of people. I think customers assume it drives us nuts but it actually doesnt. Our store plays some pretty decent music, not just Xmas songs.

TheAverageUser · 20/11/2021 16:46

I love it Smile
