Does anybody actually like Christmas music in shops?

There are certain songs I like, but every time I hear Christmas songs in shops I feel stressed and pissed off.

My opinion is that people can choose to wear earphones with Christmas music on whilst they shop, play songs in the car or at home, but it should be banned in shops.

I quite like Christmas btw

I don’t mind Christmas song be it pop or carols.Except for “Step into Christmas “ which makes me want to step out of the shop.

I worked in a department store as a Christmas temp every year from the ages of 16-21.
At some point there will be an emergency that requires an encyclopedic knowledge of ‘All I want for Christmas’, ‘Baby it’s cold outside’ or ‘Santa Baby’. When this happens I am primed and ready to go! Until I am unable to enter a shop or turn on the Radio from October-January (it’s been 13 years and I still haven’t recovered!)

Eurgh "Step Into Christmas" is up there with Ronan Keating butchering "Fairytale of New York"

I love any of these in a shop , makes the back of my neck prickle
Christmas Wrapping (The Waitresses )
I Believe in Father Christmas -Greg Lake
A Winters Tale (David Essex)
Girl In a Sportcar (Chris Rea) not a Christmas song but was played a lot round Christmas
Stop the Cavalry (Jona Lewie) and i defy anyone not to sing along to this
Thank God It's Christmas - (Queen)

In December, yes. It's November now and NOT Christmas at all.

Love it. Never too early for Christmas, IMHO ... 😁

@Accidentgirlfriend

I work in retail and can’t wait for our Xmas music to start ! Our company hasn’t got a license to play the radio or known artists apparently and so we have to put up with a cd of some unknown music going round on loop every day and I’ve heard the songs so much now I assume they are in the charts 😂 I hope we get the really good Christmas cd similar to the one we had last year it makes work go so much quicker when you’re bopping along to cheery Xmas tunes :) I think it gives helps with my Christmas spirit .
When I worked in retail, the CDs we played were supplied by head office and we had some bloody awful Xmas one. I quite like Xmas music, but this was about 12 songs that were all terrible cover versions played over and over. Even worse if you’re doing overtime and have 10 hours of it.

I want to track down and murder whoever was doing a Mariah Carey cover that somehow managed to be flat and warbly. Oh and one of the songs was Feed the World, but the new one with rapping in the middle, just to give you an idea of the level of terribleness.

@girlmom21

I love it. It boosts my mood.

I can't stand people who wear earphones in shops because they're generally completely oblivious to everyone around them.

My daughter wears them because she has Aspergers and without them wouldn’t manage to cope with everything going on around her. She needs to be oblivious to much of the noise. She has never run into anyone with the trolley yet. Her headphones are vital to her.

The cover versions in some shops are truly awful. I don’t mind them if they are the originals with some exceptions. I really don’t like Baby it’s Cold Outside or Santa Baby. To me they just sound creepy. But not before mid/late November please. I recall one year hearing them in October in TKMax. I left but the poor staff didn’t have that option.

Kirst26 · 23/11/2021 11:03

I love it, I will sing along (from behind my mask!)

Rosebel · 23/11/2021 11:32

I work in a supermarket and quite like the Christmas music but it's more of a radio station so different music every day.
Years ago I worked in a different supermarket and we had 8 Christmas songs that played on repeat all day from the 1sr December. That was torture.

HoseMeDownWithHolyWater · 23/11/2021 11:32

I love it. It makes me feel festive.

Hexenhaus · 23/11/2021 13:22

Love it, helps me get into a festive mood, it doesn't feel like Christmas shopping unless Christmas music is playing. I used to work in a supermarket and I loved it then too, hasn't put me off.

FlowerPower3110 · 23/11/2021 13:26

I love it!! It makes Christmas shopping so much more enjoyable
