What do you treat yourself to at Christmas that you don’t have any other time of the year?

Mine is my mums rocky road. She makes me a tray every year and it’s delicious Grin I also like a jar of cherries in kirsch for Christmas week - I have them on ice cream or chocolate cake.

@blackmagicqueen

Tbf I cannot stand Irish cream so that's why I was devastated. I had picked up the Irish cream box instead of the white box Smile Irish cream might be amazing, just not for me! Asda have had them a few years now.

Ooh i love a dark choc coffee cream! Hard to get now. I know thorntons used to little bags of them.

I used to love going to woolys and pick out a bagful of the strawberry coffee and orange creams. They are my favourite.

In house we have
Pringles, twiglets, some other sweet/salty combo of pretzels, celebrations, quality street, planning on making mince pies and maybe shortbread with dc, christmas cake made and maturing nicely in cointreau, christmas pud, usually get a couple tubs of baileys cream, baileys for me, maybe a cheeseboard but only me eats cheese so not sure yet.
Waiting for butchers to put out their pork and cranberry cocktail sausages, they are amazing. Might ask if i can have a bag of the mix and do my own sausage rolls with them. Schloer for the dinner. Might treat myself to a bottle of fizz this year.

The twiglets and cheeselets are out in our Co op I’ve grabbed some already will grab some soon they’re going away for Christmas I’m happy now.

Holothane · 24/11/2021 16:57

Oh yes marzipan fruits must get some.

Blackmagicqueen · 24/11/2021 17:03

@BellaTheDarkOverlord dh said the same as you but i assured him they shouldn't taste of alcohol just caramel (judging by ingredient list) yes i checked! 🤣 Should be renamed caramel fancies really... but frosty fancies still remain a christmas favourite and i may need to get an emergency stash in should irish cream ones prove to be disappointing (despite my vanilla overload of late)!

unicornpower · 24/11/2021 17:05

Tiger bread with LOADS of butter and amazing ham.

Pate, cheeselets (although I did have these in labour) piccalilli, snowballs, mulled wine, Baileys cream, the festive bake from greggs, Boursin and cream crackers, quality street by the bucket loads!

This year I’m breastfeeding a baby with a dairy intolerance so I am expressing so much milk so I can enjoy some foods I’ve not been able to since being pregnant! Yippeeeee!

Scallops, lobster and very nice chocolates

Really good bread

Looking forward to it already

shouldistop · 24/11/2021 17:16

Chocolate panettone with mascarpone spread on it

shouldistop · 24/11/2021 17:16

Baileys hot chocolates

PoppyMonth · 24/11/2021 17:51

No sweet stuff at all.

But cheese there will be a surfeit of. I always order copious cheeses and a wheel of Brie.

WorriedMillie · 24/11/2021 18:05

My mum’s bread sauce, I could eat it all day Grin

headinthecloudsnow · 24/11/2021 21:27

Forgot to add Whittards white hot chocolate !

KTyoupigeon · 24/11/2021 23:00

Vegan cheese from my favourite artisan maker - a real treat

Ponoka7 · 25/11/2021 09:44

Baileys in orange, original and chocolate. Hotel hot chocolate for the velvetiser. Irish meadow, to go in got chocolate. Lindor orange and mint balls. Joe and Steph's popcorn. Kettle honey barbeque crisps. Warninks advocaat, lemonade and lime juice for egg nog. A selection of fancy cheeses (some I do have sparingly over the year). I pay a bit more for red wines. Cranberry sauce and a selection of pickles.

BuffyFanForever · 25/11/2021 09:44

Ah apologies for the moan but it’s worked out that I’m pregnant for the second Christmas in a row. No pate, no bucket load of blue cheese. 😢
