What do you treat yourself to at Christmas that you don’t have any other time of the year?

Mine is my mums rocky road. She makes me a tray every year and it’s delicious Grin I also like a jar of cherries in kirsch for Christmas week - I have them on ice cream or chocolate cake.

Cheese. Lots and lots of cheese. Pannetone. Mince pies by the dozen(kids like them) with Baileys cream. Snowballs, mulled wine and champagne.

Crazyforyooo · 23/11/2021 20:39

How about warm stollen covered in ice cold Bailey's 😋

AnAverageMum · 23/11/2021 21:10

The way people describe food on mumsnet really gives me the ick 😂

NinaProudman2022 · 23/11/2021 21:24

I would thoroughly recommend this as a lovely adult treat www.orogin.co.uk/shop/romance-collection

They have a special offer on this week with 15% off would make a nice present to a friend or relative or a nice gift to yourself for a Christmas Eve or NYE.

Deminism · 23/11/2021 21:28

M&S brandy snaps and Hotel Chocolate enrobed mango

ToffeeNotCoffee · 23/11/2021 22:34

Home made sausage rolls. The smell of them baking on Christmas Eve is one of THE nice smells of Christmas.

Florentine biscuits. I get mine from M&S. I'll get some from Aldi as well for comparison !

Cheeseboard and pate but we sometimes have this through the year.

M&S chocolate truffles in flaked chocolate. I've gone for quality over quantity. I'll buy a small box of Roses as a token because my husband likes them.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/11/2021 23:28

@blackmagicqueen I remember the year I accidentally got the Irish cream ones. I was devastated 😭 I think I've been through 3 boxes of the white ones so far Grin

Figgit · 23/11/2021 23:52

Pandoro, Fortnum & Mason Lebkuchen, stollen, Danish butter cookies, fancy cheeses with chutneys, rilettes, ginger cake (home made), mincers, cheeselets, mulled wine, marzipan sweets, candy canes in hot chocolate. Really shamefully, we have a Christmas shelf in our larder, rammed full of goodies, which we’ll happily munch our way through in December. (Or at least the ravenous boys will!)

thatonesmine · 24/11/2021 00:00

Chocolate ginger and orange and lemon jelly slices.
Also salted cashews and peanuts which aren't at all special really, I just never think to buy them the rest of the year.

ConsuelaHammock · 24/11/2021 00:01

Really good smoked salmon

Beamur · 24/11/2021 00:04

Sweet sherry

ConsuelaHammock · 24/11/2021 00:05

And I buy Baileys for my husband . He usually gets the faileys from Lidl through the year .

Franticbutterfly · 24/11/2021 00:06

@LH1987

Boursin, I have no idea why only at Christmas because I love it!

Baileys.

Full sugar coke, I love it and drink it with my Christmas dinner (very classy Grin)

Your post made me thing of the film of the film 'Santa Claus the Movie', when he opened that can of drink I wanted it every time.
thatonesmine · 24/11/2021 00:31

And cheese footballs, mainly to appease my adult DS. Nibbles generally, we're not people who nibble most of the time but at Christmas we do go for nibbly stuff. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day it's just one cooked meal and all day nibbling.

ThereWeAreThen79 · 24/11/2021 00:58

Gammon rolls on Christmas morning. I cook a gammon joint overnight in the slow cooker and it gets eaten (well ripped to shreds) during the opening of the presents. The plan is then to eat the rest with dinner but there's rarely any left now the kids are older.
I also love cheese footballs but couldn't get any last Christmas.

RAFHercules · 24/11/2021 07:05

Cheese, chutney and port.
Champagne
That's me sorted.

thegreylady · 24/11/2021 07:42

Dark chocolate coffee creams
Corvoisier brandy (a bottle lasts us 2 years)

DebHagland · 24/11/2021 08:34

Proper handmade butter fudge
www.wickedfudge.co.uk

cobblers123 · 24/11/2021 08:41

Mon Cheri liqueur chocolates
Smoked salmon
Pack of Greggs cocktail sausage rolls you cook yourself. I love sausage rolls and prefer to cook a few of them to have watching TV rather than stuffing myself with chocolate and sweets.

cobblers123 · 24/11/2021 08:44

Oh, forgot the florentines, Aldi's are my usual ones but I bought a pack of Lidl's recently, roasted hazelnut ones, absolutely delicious. I ate the whole pack virtually in one hit! Shock

TrexDrip · 24/11/2021 08:44

Lebkuchen, Costco mince pies, florentines, pigs in blankets, tub of quality street and lots of cheese !

Redsquirrel5 · 24/11/2021 09:08

Lebkucken, Stollen ( hoping to have a go at making it this year) and for the last couple of years a seafood platter from the butchers. DH and I ordered it a few weeks ago. You can tick what you want and it is made up on a silver tray. Lobster, crab, Langoustines, smoked salmon and prawns beautifully presented. That is our first course now. No faffing with space or ovens( DH brought home lots of things to heat up one year- nightmare) just plates out and bring the dish when all sat down. Salad bowl and help yourself.😁
Some The Toffee Shop fudge and a box of chocolates. Chocolate oranges- traditional since they were little and DH and I eat DDs as she is abroad. Proper Turkish Delight. Box of wine though that has been extended to year round the last couple of years.
Pavlova (homemade) has replaced Christmas Pud so I buy some different fruit for that. We have three tiers.
Going to ask friend to get me some florentine’s this year.😃

motherofawhirlwind · 24/11/2021 09:17

Florentines, Baileys in hot chocs, trifle.

Can't wait!

InTheCludgie · 24/11/2021 09:44
