And I've only gone and bought stollen bites and mini florentines - What are the chances of them lasting til Christmas??

My guess is very slim chances indeed.

I might just have to run a trial to see which are the best items to get later Wink

It's September. Not sure if we really need to worry about Christmas food yet.

Sonarl · 26/09/2021 11:38

Who cares it's September.

Chrysanthemum5 · 26/09/2021 11:38

I don't think it's about worrying about Christmas foods - rather it's how yummy they are and good to eat at any time.

Where did it say I'm worried??

This is why I posted this in the topic of Christmas - for people who like and enjoy Christmas and don't worry about it.

You're on the Christmas board! Get off it if you don't want to talk about Christmas in September!

daytripper28 · 26/09/2021 11:40

yes yes @Chrysanthemum5

You've got it!!

@Sonarl - don't come onto a Christmas topic thread if you don't like it

I might have to sample the stollen today. Just to check it's OK, obviously

ISpyCobraKai · 26/09/2021 11:40

Oooh, I love stollen

FindingMeno · 26/09/2021 11:40

Christmas food makes us fat and we usually get too much anyway.
Better to focus on quality rather than quantity!

FrankiesKnuckle · 26/09/2021 11:41

Stollen bites you say.....

There goes my half a stone loss!

daytripper28 · 26/09/2021 11:42

@MeredithGreyishblue

precisely

And a lot of things may need tasting

Aldi mini florentines are the business.

Lidl have all the stollen and whatnot out too, saw it all earlier.

Theunamedcat · 26/09/2021 11:45

What are the dates like on them?

FuckingFabulous · 26/09/2021 11:47

I got some lebekuchen, mini mince pies and matchmakers the other day. Had me a tiny festive feast!

Buying mincemeat this weekend and the Xmas chocolates like coins for stockings and selection boxes. Purely because last year, I couldn't find them ANYWHERE and I'm not going through that rigmarole again. I've also bought a butter basted Turkey joint, some gammon and joint of beef to pop in the freezer just in case this meat fiasco they're all warning us about comes to pass. I like vegetarian food but I definitely want my full Christmas dinner!

Oohchichi · 26/09/2021 11:47

Ooh I hope they have the Christmas sour cream and chive pretzels in! 🤤

PaperDolphin · 26/09/2021 11:51

I am very excited by this news! I am going to start Christmas food planning in about 3 weeks.

Ps. Why do so many people feel that their opinion of when it is acceptable to talk about Christmas is the only correct opinion? Bore off.

daytripper28 · 26/09/2021 11:52

@Theunamedcat I was slightly surprised (and delighted as may be every flippin week) that the dates all end in 2022 - so pretty groovy.

@FuckingFabulous - You're definitely giving me great ideas here - what a f*** fabulous plan - I may just copy. Did you buy all your meats from Aldi or go elsewhere?

Lidl's stollen bits are my (German) DH's absolute favourite.

(My DD38 got all excited yesterday when she was helping me unpack my Tesco shop because the teabag packaging has Christmas imagery. I taught her well.)

3 months to Boxing Day. I will be buying the buffet ham and the beef next week (while I still have petrol) so that I can then stop worrying about the supply chain collapsing.

Sorry, that was meant to be more tongue-in-cheek. I got distracted and forgot to add the smilies 😂😁

I'm not ready to start thinking about Christmas until at least October 😂

PaperDolphin · 26/09/2021 11:54

Someone mentioned marzipan stuffed stollen the other day and honestly it's all I can think about

daytripper28 · 26/09/2021 11:55

@QuestionableMouse - hehe - I'll let you off - just this once mind Grin
