And I've only gone and bought stollen bites and mini florentines - What are the chances of them lasting til Christmas??

My guess is very slim chances indeed.

I might just have to run a trial to see which are the best items to get later Wink

I'm there! Stollen and lebkuchen are my faves.

I run a food bank and this year round about Feb one of the Aldis/Lidls rang us to ask if we wanted the mini stollen they'd unearthed in their loading bay, still brilliantly in date. We got two vans' worth. The people we feed were in stollen for weeks and weeks. Still hasn't put me off.

FlamingGoat · 26/09/2021 19:04

Omg! Mini stollen bites 😍
Do they have the chocolate ones too?

AuntieMarys · 26/09/2021 19:06

I once ate a packet of stollen bites and vommed. Never again.

Chrysanthemum5 · 26/09/2021 19:07

The florentines are the best. And in case anyone is interested also hampers go on sale from tomorrow. Last year they sold out very quickly!

Geepee71 · 26/09/2021 21:20

@Sn0tnose thank you, I was thinking about those beauties recently, trip to Sainsburys me thinks.

Geepee71 · 26/09/2021 21:21

This thread is perfect timing as I'm starting to buy bits for Christmas food hampers. I make up hampers for 15 people/families so try and spread the cost/load

thelegohooverer · 26/09/2021 21:55

How did you get the florentines home op? The ones I buy mysteriously disappear between the shop and my house, leaving just the wrapping behind.
I’ve only managed to safely get a box home by buying a few, but the sugar coma

Figgygal · 26/09/2021 21:57

My 9 year old is on his 3rd box of mince pies already

GhostOfChristmasPudding · 26/09/2021 22:33

You guys can have ALL the stollen, just tell me if they had any praline marzipan bars! I could easily eat four in one go Xmas Grin

We always make sure we get a couple of their Lebkuchen rounds, otherwise it's just not Christmas in our house.

I may or may not have already eaten 3 Cadbury Christmas puds.

Joystir59 · 27/09/2021 06:34

I can't stand all that rich cheap crap.

MitheringMytryl · 27/09/2021 06:34

Oh my... A couple of people on this thread might be getting a lump of coal in their stocking...

Don't buy it then! Nobody's forcing you to. 🤷‍♀️
DogFoodPie · 27/09/2021 08:56

Ooh I love the Aldi lebkuchen best. I am not an early Christmas stockpiler as I will just eat it, nut I get a few things to test already had a few mince pies.

Very true!

GhostOfChristmasPudding · 27/09/2021 09:10

I may have to make a trip this week, then. Don't think I can control myself to just get one though. 😂

GhostOfChristmasPudding · 27/09/2021 09:11

That was in response to @sueelleker - wish we had an edit button! 🙄

Amdone123 · 27/09/2021 09:18

I don't really like Christmas ( tend to go away), but this thread is getting me excited.
Am getting me a Christmas cupboard!!
@figgygal, that made me lol

DinosaurOfFire · 27/09/2021 09:24

Ooh florentines! Last year I kept buying them to put away for Christmas... then eating them and having to go back and get more... on repeat, every week... This year I plan to be more disciplined and not buy any for eating now but keep them hidden away!

NoWordForFluffy · 27/09/2021 10:12

I put our Christmas snacks well away from the kitchen (other than those I make and freeze). Might be time to make mince pies soon. I like to fill the freezer with a few batches and then make some more on CE with the kids, so Santa gets one which is freshly-made.

AuntieMarys · 27/09/2021 12:37

stoatmilk 😀😀
I'm looking forward to a Betty's frangipane mince pie

HandlebarLadyTash · 27/09/2021 18:54

I got my white chocolate Baileys dupe in july Smile
