I hope some people are managing to enjoy their day.
Christmas songs and prosecco at 7.30. Best thing is eating those mini sausage rolls for breakfast.
Chocolate next!

Just the three of us here (DS 4) and it's lovely. Up at 6am, presents all opened, toys being played with and I'm on the Bucks Fizz.

justanotherneighinparadise · 25/12/2020 10:32

Kids are being completely adorable AND grateful 😮

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 25/12/2020 10:37

Not bad. Eating plain boiled pasta for breakfast bcause of my shitting bastard gallstones.
But kids are very happy with their ifts and I can hear them playing contentedly in the next room.

MeMarmiteYouJam · 25/12/2020 10:39

Everything is calm and happy here - we even had a reasonable start, they woke me at 8am!

The dc don't know we have a beloved visitor on the way, I'm so excited to see their faces when the doorbell rings.

Whatayear1234 · 25/12/2020 11:22

Just the three of us here too. Trued curling hair but too many prosecco! Listening to the Our Generation dolls 'arguing' over who gets the top bunk.

@MeMarmiteYouJam ooo that sounds lovely!
@unlimiteddilutingjuice oh no, will they get treated soon?

Nice to hear about people's days Xmas Smile

Just the two of us today. It just feels like a weekend day with gifts so far, but it’s peaceful and that’s enough for today!

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/12/2020 11:27

Lovely time here, thanks. Just me and DP and the pets, relaxing. Peace, quiet, chocolate and some fizz. Cannae beat it!

Littlemissnutcracker · 25/12/2020 11:27

Yes it's really lovely and possibly the happiest day of my life so far. I have had a lot of little problems but I look around me today and I am happy.

WeAllHaveWings · 25/12/2020 11:27

We are having a lovely day, ds(16), dh and I. Had a full fry up. Setting up gadgets - Echos/ps5. Playing target shooting and I havent hit one on target yet! (New bullets/target bag for his old nerf gun we found recently). Messing about with alexa.

DDog unwrapped by himself and loved his treat dispensing snake 🤣

Weather dry so going to walk dog soon, then will come back and have a look at how long the turkey will take.

Couple of video chats later then playing Mega monopoly after Xmas dinner.

EnglishRose1320 · 25/12/2020 11:30

Yes we are having a lovely day. I'm ill and tired but the ds' loved their presents and so far the day has been fairly calm.
Plus the beautiful frost this morning really made things feel Christmassy. Hoping I feel up to a walk later.

Rae36 · 25/12/2020 11:31

We're one of the few taking advantage of the travel exemption and driving to see my mum and dad for the first time in months. It's raining but we don't care. We're having a barbecue Christmas lunch in the garden and we're excited

Destinysdaughter · 25/12/2020 11:36

I'm on my own but having a lovely day. Had a great chat with a friend earlier, its a gorgeous sunny day here and I'm snuggling on the sofa watching Christmas songs on the tv. And a neighbours cat paid me a visit this morning! Smile ( my little cat died at the start of the first lockdown). Have got a lovely meal planned for later and some Prosecco chilling in the fridge, so all is good.

Happy Xmas everybody! Wine Xmas Smile

TiddyTid · 25/12/2020 11:36

I've filled a travel cup with advocaat and lemonade to take to go see my pony - he's got carrots and parsnips. Then back for small Christmas dinner for me and DH then adult DCs popping over for present exchange and nibbles - no timescales at all it will happen when it happens. Merry Christmas everyone 😍

AuntieStella · 25/12/2020 11:46

Oh yes!

We usually spend Xmas with just the nuclear family, so although we have missed seeing wider family (which we would usually do just before and just after The Day) not that much has changed, except no Midnight Mass and no parkrun

We've opened stockings, cooking is underway and I'm currently having a coffee break before next things need attention.

DC are being funny and I've had lots of lovely messages from people.

I don't think much of the telly listings this year, but we have family to call and board games to hand, and a walk planned for later

I'm content

Whatayear1234 · 25/12/2020 11:59

@EnglishRose1320 I hope you feel better soon, and if its long term, I hope treatment is in place for you.

@Rae36 sounds wonderful!

@Littlemissnutcracker its nice to hear you're happy! You deserve it after a bad year.

@Destinysdaughter that sounds a good day! My next door neighbour is on her own so plating her up a dinner as she said she wouldn't cook for herself. She seems happy though!

@AuntieStella we have pictionary air to play later. The TV hasn't been switched on yet...

Lovely morning with the kids, DH and my in laws. Kids up from 6:30, wild with excitement. Have done the Santa pressies (despite my best attempts my half American kids and my American DH refuse to call him FC...). Main presents after breakfast and then we’ll try and go outside before lunch. DH is working today (lots of Indian and Jewish physicians typically work on the 25th to allow for those whom it matters to have the day off), so he’ll be off in a bit. It’s raining all day today so our usual Christmas Day hike we’ll do tomorrow when it’s a little drier (although it’s going to be -4...).

Pringwells · 25/12/2020 12:11

Yes, lovely. 2 long dog walks, dinner in oven, thoughtful presents.

It’s just DP and me, we are Tier 4 so stuck in. I am sad we can’t see family, but we get to have Christmas dinner together for the first time ever, we have been together 20 years...

Listening to the radio, just poured a gin, am chilling and happy.

Thurlow · 25/12/2020 12:12

So good to hear of nice days!

Kids are being lovely, not bugging for presents (we're trying to drop feed them through the day). DH has the roast on, just been for a play at the park where everyone we saw said happy Christmas, and about to Zoom the grandparents and open more presents.

Happy Christmas to everyone!

HopeAndDriftWood · 25/12/2020 12:13

We’re drinking mimosas, and making our first Christmas dinner together married. We’ve opened some presents but have some left, which is nice. It’s different, but lovely Smile

foofooyeah · 25/12/2020 12:14

It’s quiet but quite nice. No visitors = no frantic tidying.
Nice presents and we really put a cap on spending which makes me happy.
Still in PJs watching a film with my son, DP gone to bed for a couple of hours as was up most of the night (shift worker insomnia).
Will eat around 2, walk the dog, and that’s about it.

LittleLottieChaos · 25/12/2020 12:17

I’m going to be honest as I think honest parenting also helps other people who just aren’t feeling it. My son is nearly 2 and currently refusing a much needed nap... he’s bitten through his last dummy (we agreed no more after he killed this one). So whilst we’ve had a couple of nice moments we’re also tired and would ideally have liked a short break to ourselves (we’re Tier 4 so no can do). Our walk this morning was enjoyable until a massive tantrum happened and we live on a steep hill so carrying a screaming toddler isn’t that fun at the best of times... try doing it on hill in the freezing winter. I’m happy for all those having lovely days and I’m also representing right here for those that aren’t ... #rollonbedtime

Whatayear1234 · 25/12/2020 12:22

@LittleLottieChaos I have to admit, I wasn't fond of toddler Christmases either. DD is older now and is grateful for all her presents. I can also get her to put them away! When she was small, it felt like there was chaos and mess everywhere.
I hope your son naps so you can both have a well deserved break.

Lovely. Just the two of us today and 2 dogs. Not the first time we’ve had Christmas alone and our families are divorced and/or scattered all over the place, so used to doing video calls on Christmas Day. What is slightly different is that all our parents are getting video calls from other people due to the social distanced Christmas. So this morning we were in a 5 way video-call ping pong with calls coming in while we’re on the phone, calling people back and they’re on the phone to someone else. It’s nice that everyone is keeping connected.

I’ve got some lovely gifts. Despite both DH and I working from since March, we’ve managed to get a few surprises for each other. The puppy is asleep and the older dog is playing with her toys. We’ve had a fire going this morning while we opened presents and we’ve got a lovely big roast dinner to look forward to but for now, it’s time to open another bottle of fizz and start Ron the chocolates...
