Argghhhh, I’m so sorry, I hope I haven’t lost you all! I was keeping a beady eye then got distracted trying to work out how to forward plan a Zoom call for work and invite someone, which should only take a few minutes but I’m incompetent and it took me far too long Blush .

@CarrotVan I hope it was the former!

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Boots have got up to 50% off selected fragrances and up to 20% off selected premium beauty and fragrance for today only

Carriemac · 09/11/2020 10:00

@lolarabbit they are perfect just ordered the campervan one

Dolphintrainer · 09/11/2020 10:00

@Carriemac I totally agree with Caffeine’s advice. I started at age 11 and I knit pretty much every day. Bamboo needles are easier than plastic or metal needles when beginning as the yarn doesn’t slide off so easily. The suggested set would be perfect for a teen, I am sure she’d love to receive them.

Did any save the code for the pillow on the last thread, the one from amazon which went down to £7.50?

I keep meaning to screenshot codes but i forgot and I’m really pleased with it and want to get my SIL to get me another on her amazon acc.

@fuckingfuckssake - what age are your DC? The reviews on the pogo sticks suggest that they might be too stiff for younger children. Looking into reviews for quite a few different pogo sticks, that seems to be a common problem. I expect that any particular stick probably works best with quite a small weight range.

I've created a separate thread asking for advice and recommendations - seeing the pogo stick on here reminded me that I want to get one for DD Grin - but no posts yet!

TimeToCloseTheDoor · 09/11/2020 10:13

@Lovemusic33

Thank you Scoleah, have ordered a weighted blanket, wasn’t sure what size to get, dd is 16 so went for the bigger size but 8kg sounds heavy 🤣, I’m sure she will like it, she always wraps herself up tight in her duvet.
I have a 18 week old puppy who weighs 8kg and my 12 year old can still pick him up and carry him about so you should be fine Smile
TheGirlWhoLived · 09/11/2020 10:17

I’m dithering over the last part of my present buying- dd wants some clothes from river island but I don’t want to spend £90 without a discount! Shall I hold on until Black Friday and see if they do a discount (but then risk the particular items being out of stock) or just bite the bullet and pay £90 for a pair of jeans, leggings, crop tops and a coat 🥴

Thanks for replying, it's for a 9 year old boy to burn off some energy when it's too wet for the trampoline!!!

uniqlo · 09/11/2020 10:29

Just got an email from Quidco saying they have an extra £5 cashback for a £50 spend with Nike. If the 25% code is still on and it stacks could be a bit of an extra bargain.

aw93 · 09/11/2020 10:29

@TheGirlWhoLived Not much of a discount but better than nothing, UDMWCP3M5YQ1020 should give 10% off.

Raindropsonrosesand · 09/11/2020 10:35

For a 9 year old, it might be fine. The negative reviews were for 6 and 7 year olds. My DD is almost 8 but quite slight, so I'm holding off. They do look like such a great bargain though!

I'm considering this one because it looks like it's aimed at younger /lighter kids. But it costs 3 times as much and doesn't light up Sad. I could hold off for a couple of years, but she is such a bouncy child I think she'd love one Grin

scrappydappydoo · 09/11/2020 10:55

Thank you for the burrito game link - I’ve had my eye on that for dd.

Winterfellismyhome · 09/11/2020 10:56

PositiveLife · 09/11/2020 11:24

Thanks for the weighted blanked tip. Finally got started on the Xmas shopping. I also got the kids some duvet sets to go with them.

Anyone seen any bargain slippers for teens/pre-teens?

uniqlo · 09/11/2020 11:33

Top tip for cheap books! This local company have just launched a new website. bookclub.66books.co.uk/

keeganface · 09/11/2020 11:36

For slippers I got my teenage daughter some lovely ones from Mand M direct. They were £7.99.

We have two of the hooded blankets from New Look and they are used daily by my 12 and 10 year olds.[/quote]
So they would be a perfect length for him then. He always has a blanket wrapped around him lol

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/11/2020 11:40

@Gardenworm my DD is age 10 but on the short side. I've not put it near her as it's a present, but I'm only 5'2" and when I held it up against me it was mid-shin length so will be long on her. I ordered the 11-13yr size for her. Hope that helps.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 09/11/2020 11:48

@Rubyroo73 do those hoodie blankets have arms like an oodie? They could have some better pictures on their site Hmm
