Went online today and you can pre-book your collection slot. Nothing really different to last year, was hoping for a new yummy dessert but at least they had Christmas Colin!

@Dutypaid have a look at Cook. They seem to have just put their Christmas food up: www.cookfood.net/menu/christmas. Maybe you can cobble together some starters?

Also, here's their Meals for 1 section in general: www.cookfood.net/menu/main-meals/meals-for-1

JingsMahBucket · 01/10/2020 22:03

@Dutypaid scroll down on this page for Christmas meal bundles for 2 people www.cookfood.net/menu/christmas/christmas-day

Dutypaid · 01/10/2020 22:12

@jingsmahbucket perfect!! I'll have that over two days. Thank you so much!

Dogsaresomucheasier · 02/10/2020 06:36

Having had a browse at Waitrose and Sainsbury’s too I feel like there is some conspiracy to stop us being able to get it all online this year. Like they are trying to ensure footfall in actual shops when people really, really don’t want to! None of them are doing the sauces as part of a Christmas order!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2020 06:49

Sainsbury's have a gravy and cranberry sauce duo. Plus a vegan gravy.

CarlottaValdez · 02/10/2020 09:29

So will Waitrose release Christmas slots that I can buy normal food at do you think? I have the turkey ordered but I’d love to get a slot sorted for all the ingredients for the rest!

A couple of years ago I did a hello fresh box which was fab but there’s no sign of it this year

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2020 10:30

Once you can book a Waitrose slot you can order anything, @CarlottaValdez. My Christmas slot is always a mix of special stuff and normal stuff as it's my weekly shop with extras!

CarlottaValdez · 02/10/2020 11:31

Oh great I’ll hope for one of those then! Website says Christmas slots coming soon at the moment!

I8toys · 02/10/2020 11:49

Never ordered before but I'm at our local M&S every week so thought why not,

I ordered the yule log, sausage ring, cheese dippy thing and the profiteroles.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/10/2020 12:12

I picked up the M&S Christmas Food Guide instore today .
Seems more in the catalogue than online

snowmanshoes · 02/10/2020 12:42

I usually do a bit of both from M and S and Sainsbury’s but have just gone with Sainsbury’s this year. Fingers crossed Marks’ add a bit more to their selection!!

2me2u2u2me · 02/10/2020 16:09

Whoop Thanks for the tips everyone, I’ve just done an M&S shop, Sugar based baked gammon, cauliflower cheese, sticky toffee pudding trifle, Christmas pudding and garnish selection, collection 23rd, rest will be from Sainsbury’s with my Nectar points Grin

copperoliver · 02/10/2020 16:26

I've done mine too. X

allmycats · 02/10/2020 16:39

Ordered today. Lots of slots gone already. Venison, beef and borderline sauce, meat and manchego platter and a Colin. Great. Will pick up veg. Etc when local shops start selling their veg etc at 29p per packet.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2020 17:13

My town clearly isn't bothered by M&S as the only slot that's gone is 8am on 23rd!

JingsMahBucket · 02/10/2020 17:39

@Dutypaid you're very welcome! :)

Deelish75 · 02/10/2020 18:11

Most of the slots at my nearest M&S are still available. I’ve ordered turkey, gammon and the Woodland Yule and will get all the sides from Sainsbury’s when they start selling them in December.

goose1964 · 02/10/2020 19:42

Nothing there tempts me, apart from the woodland Christmas lot but I wouldn't pay £20 on a cake.

JulesM73 · 03/10/2020 12:38

When I was in the shop earlier I noticed the catalogue looked quite thick compared to what was online and it was because it’s telling you lots of stuff that will be available in the store nearer the date.
They won’t be selling gravy through the online ordering as they are trying to limit how many people are in the store and lots of people only apparently order the gravy for collection. It will only be available from in store.

Toomanycats99 · 03/10/2020 16:41

@JulesM73

Let's hope the store is better than last year then. I went in Xmas Eve morning first thing to collect my order and get some extra salad type bits. Their delivery's were running late and loads of stuff was missing!

MsSquiz · 03/10/2020 17:30

@JulesM73 I don't understand. If they are limiting the number of people in store, why would the gravy only be available in store?
Surely it makes more sense to be available for collection as that will be people collections their orders and leaving rather than mooching about the store

NoWordForFluffy · 03/10/2020 17:36

@MsSquiz, what they probably mean is that people are taking up what could be a lucrative order's slot with an order just for gravy!

MsSquiz · 03/10/2020 17:40

@JulesM73 ah, that makes sense! Sorry I didn't even think that people would just order gravy!

I'm clearly too focussed on Christmas Colin and pigs in blankets!

Clarke45 · 03/10/2020 17:47

Has anyone had the shin of beef before? I'm tempted! Obviously Colin was the first item in my bag!

Dogsaresomucheasier · 03/10/2020 19:33

Who the hell just orders gravy! Have a minimum spend then, but no need to make this complicated!
