As I just don't have a clue for DD this year!

What are your five year old girls receiving?

Glow bears my dd loves these

swollen · 09/10/2007 12:53

My DD wants Barbie roller boots ( have got her ones with 3 wheels on each boot) and the saffety stuff to match. she s also keen on Bratz dolls as all her friends have them. I ve managed to steer away from them till now as im not keen on them but have got her 2 dolls for christmas.
hope this helps a bit!

SaveFerris · 09/10/2007 12:53

Can't even think about Christmas atm, but DD was 5 in Sept and I bought her Bratz 'ipod'. I detest Bratz but it was £40 reduced to £20 and its the best £20 I have ever spent. She loves it. My brother bought her a docking station for it for her bedroom so she can listen to her music there, and I have put her French CD's etc. into it as well.

DumbledoresGirl · 09/10/2007 12:56

One of the things my 7 yo dd wants is a Cella sticker maker. When I googled it and looked at the reviews for it on Amazon, it seems it was also popular last year with slightly younger children. Has your dd got one?

Hulababy · 09/10/2007 12:58

No she hasn't - don't they need lots of refills, etc which I will never remember to buy?!

Roller blade things might be good idea actually - or at least an idea for others to buy even if not us.

Thought about MP3 for car but not sure she'd manage with the in ear hardphones.

We have a November birthday first .... and besides everything she sees advertised on Nick Jnr... there is a new Barbie film and the obligatory doll which is a defo.

auntypurple · 09/10/2007 13:04

My dd's want everything, dd2 is 5 next month, asked for(and I have got stashed away at mums) a baby annabelle for her b'day, beats me why she wants this when we have a 8mth old here, who cry's real tears all by herself lol

eleusis · 09/10/2007 13:07

Oh, good thread. I need ideas too. I'm thinking about a computer for my 4 year old. But, not sure if I really want to spend that when we have two year old DS to vadalise it. So, might wait another year on the computer idea.

Roller blades sound like a good idea. That's a possibility.

Hulababy · 09/10/2007 13:13

DD has an old lapton from DH's work - no one wanted it as you can't get wireless on it. So she was given it

I am coming to the conclusion that my DD must have way too much stuff! Don't most??? She's an only child, only grandchild one side, only one of two other side, I have a big close family....see what I mean! And I love present giving too which doesn't help

suwoo · 09/10/2007 13:15

My DD is having a lap top (bought on mumsnet) off both sets of grandparents and a nintendo DS from us.

Boredveryverybored · 09/10/2007 13:17

I'm stuck this year too. DD is 6 and I havn't a clue what to buy for her. I won't have much money this year either and she has been slightly spoiled in past years
She says she wants abslutely everything in the adverts but lack of money means I have to find something she will really love because I can only afford a few things.
Sh got all the baby annabel stuff last year, has loads of barbies etc. Am totally stuck!

kindersurprise · 09/10/2007 13:21

Anyone got an idea for a creative 5yo? She loves drawing and painting, craftwork.

The Cella sticker maker looks good, she would love it but I can imagine it would be used for a few days till it needed refilled then languish at the back of the cupboard.

empen · 09/10/2007 13:21

My 5 year old has already written her list to santa!! She has said that the only thing she really wants is a Nintendo DS with a Bratz game. I have seen one on ebay for £100 with 15 games included.
I have got her some heelies but she really struggles - are the rollerblades steadier??
Other than that BRATZ, BRATZ, BRATZ. She already has at least 15 dolls, aeroplane, car etc etc but there is so much new stuff coming out all the time there is always something new.
Oh yeah, she used to have a sticker maker but broke it after day 2 after we had already rn out of refills. "Cella 'not' the best sticker maker ever" (I hate that advert)

empen · 09/10/2007 13:23

ELC is good for creative stuff as they have a whole range of things to make all reasonably priced. Windchine maker - plaster, paint, glitter - what more could a 5 year old girl ask for. Loads of different ones all about £7

SaveFerris · 09/10/2007 13:31

DD had the Cella sticker maker last year and we broke it within 2 minutes by pulling the sticker stuff the wrong way. Never bought a refill thus waste of money!

Hulababy · 09/10/2007 13:33

suwoo - DD mentioned a pink DS. I have a black one and she likes to play that when I let her! She has a second hand Gameboy Advance but even Game have stopped doing the preowned games for it, and no where does new games for it. So might be an idea as would be good for when travelling and at end of meals when out (often only child there), but not sure - expensive and still quite fragile.

eleusis · 09/10/2007 13:36

Gosh, I'm surprised at the number of BRATZ entries here. Bratz and Barbie are not allowed in my house. If they appear then they will mysteriously disappear. We don't do sex appeal at age 4 in my house. DH says I'm a control freak, but those are my red lines. No vote required.

Hulababy · 09/10/2007 13:39

No Bratz here either. I hate them and have so far managed to keep DD thinking the same. If she received one as a gift from someone else it would remain - I'd never throw out her gifts as IMO it's not fair to do so. But def not for me. DD does have Barbie, etc though.

OP posts:
Hulababy · 09/10/2007 15:35

Any more ideas?

OP posts:
Skyler · 09/10/2007 15:41

Eleusis, no Bratz or Barbie here either, but dd1 is only 4.5 and so I am expecting school to change her ideas in Jan .
I have got dd1 a LeapPad (from ebay) so far. I have no idea what else to get her either so will be watching this with interest. Oh, I have just asked her what she wants and she has said a bell for her bicycle. I think we can stretch to that....

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 09/10/2007 17:53

Magic Blo pens
A Barbie cat that wees
Magnetix
A glow bear
PollyPocket stuff
Books

She does want a Cella stickermaker but I have read bad things about how they break before this thread and she won't be getting one.

Hulababy · 10/10/2007 10:04

My grandparents asked for ideas for DD yesterday - have suggested Magnetix.

Think PILs may be getting her a digital photo frame for her bedroom - she loves my parents one, and the prices are coiming right down now.

I just know that at the very least I have to think of a gift for DD from:

*Father Christmas

  • us
  • my parents
  • my sister
  • my brother
  • my BIL & SIL
  • Dh's grandparents

They will all be asking come end of the month I just know!

OP posts:
dizzymac · 10/10/2007 10:07

DD (5) has asked for a netball hoop, a HSM dance mat and a fold away scooter. She's only allowed to ask for 3 but always gets more. That way I can almost guarantee satisfaction

emkana · 10/10/2007 10:08

My god I am stunned how many things like laptops/nintendo ds etc your dd's are having already! What will they have when they are eight/nine/ten???

dd1 is six and wants a baby alive doll and a new bicycle.
