As I just don't have a clue for DD this year!

What are your five year old girls receiving?

lol!

Answer: buy a couple of refills at the same time as buying the sticker machine (like wot I did)

www.toycrazy.co.uk/shrinkles--shrinkies-10-c.asp

shrinkles are fab - your colour them in and them shrink them in the oven and attach them to bags, make brooches with them etc

I was thinking about a child's digital camera

Rachmumoftwo · 11/10/2007 19:16

I am getting a proper digital camera for DD, but a cheap one (under £40). The children's one in ELC is a lot of money and I heard the pics are a bit fuzzy. She had a DS for her birthday last week- they are the toy of the moment I think.

moonshine · 11/10/2007 19:20

The only child's digital camera I've seen is that Fisher Price one which is meant ot be utter crap - better to get a cheap 'normal' one.

Dd (6) got a sticker machine last Xmas and loves it - still uses it (hers makes magnets as well). Agree about just showing them how to pull the thing out properly and buy a refill with it.

Hama beads loved here. Things for her room v popular eg hearts lights from John Lewis and a pink bedside lamp.

Books
Junior Scrabble
'Party' dress + matching pink sparkly shoes (cheap from Brantano)
Since starting yr 2 my dd is beginning to love all manner of stationery (takes after me ).
Diary
Space hopper

HMC - we got DD a digital camera last year. Looked at the children's ones and found that they were expensive for what the way and the picture quality was just not that great. And we found all the digital view finders really small, which is the ket feature we wanted. Ended up buying DD a proper digital camea (Canon one) in half price sale, cost same as children's one but loads better.

joining late to this thread

re sticker makers we have the cella one - its pants really tricky to use, would really recommend the xyron one which i use for my crafting, much easier to use

giant pink unicorns - hula they have them in costco and they are massive! both the dd's loved them on sunday pm! i said no way!

stumped for ideas here too, we kinda went with boring stuff for the birthday yesterday, disney princess duvet cover, bin, laundry basket and a princess alexa doll (but only 'cause it was £15 in the sale!)

katz · 11/10/2007 19:48

i have this sticker maker xyron 510 its wide enough to make a photo into a sticker, you can get different cartridges, i made birth announcement magnets with it.

Ebifa · 11/10/2007 19:59

i bought DD (6) a cheap stereo from tesco a few weeks ago. anyway, i thought it would be rubbish, but the sound out of it is great.

handlemecarefully · 11/10/2007 20:50

Ah thanks for advice - will buy proper digital camera than albeit cheap model

bootsmonkey · 11/10/2007 21:06

Thanks for the info re: sticker makers, will stick with what I have and tell DD to be careful (!) Refills to be ordered on DH's (monthly) Amazon CD drop!!

And stationery - I can still swoon at a novelty eraser. DD looks to be the same!

Hulababy · 11/10/2007 22:02

HMC - for the £60 the children's ones cost you'll get a decent proper digital camera. Just look for a nice sized digital view finder is my main thought.

Just had an online shopping session and have ordered the following for 5 year old dd:

PelvicfloorLotsofGore · 12/10/2007 22:45

That cat has a mind of it's own
You have been warned!

curlysmum · 24/10/2007 17:20

my dd is 6 a few days before xmas
I have a long list of maybe's so far which are ;

Fur Real cat (we have a real cat as well0 but dd is cat mad)
roller skates with all the gear.
ninetendo ds lite with a couple of games
Bratz portable dvd player
some music c.d.s
Books
Barbie Princess island doll or head which you can do hair
Kitty/Puppy in my pocket
craft type things
Scooter with pink lights along the bottom
digital camera

Hulababy · 12/11/2007 15:56

Thanks for lots of ideas. Will update my list so far then:

  • Father Christmas - pink DS Lite
  • us - HSM2 DVDm HSM Wii game, Brain Academy for DS, Cinderella play set, Flik Flak watch
  • my parents - ???
  • PILs - digital photo frame (and books - which ones???)
  • my sister - jewellry box
  • my brother - Disney Princess DS game
  • my BIL & SIL - HSM DS game
  • Dh's grandad - ???
  • my grandparents - Magnetix

They are the only ones I need to think about now.

So I need ideas for my parents (probably toy based I think) and for grandad (mor elikely learning type based) to get DD. And some book ideas for PILs.

My dd and all her friends love the Cnderwella Magic Slipper board game cos they press the glass slipper and it makes a lovely noise! All visitors under 4ft to our house love it!

Wilkos currenlty ahve stuff your own bear s for £7 which includes a birth certificate! DD thinks they're fab!

Polly Pocket - loads of sets for only £6 in Home bargains inc Disco set

We're getting dd (and ds) the DS lite - they are dsperate for them! So cutting back on volume this year. Wrapping up essentials such as pyjamas and underwear!
