Afternoon everyone.
Hope everyone is feeling cooler, and that temperatures have dropped a little. Still have sun here at the moment, think it was supposed to rain!
Really happy at the moment as my DD has just got her A level results and has passed them all, and has just got into her preferred uni. She is going out with her friends tonight to celebrate Smile Gin
Hope all the other applicants have got the grades they wanted. Smile

pussycatinboots · 13/08/2020 13:27

🎈🎉 Well done to your DD Mrs, excellent news!

Woolly glad you made it home, did you get your Brew and 🥓butty? It's the least your DH could do after you being in such peril going to Wickes 😉

fluffy I hope you have somewhere to store them all! 🥔🥔🥔

pussycatinboots · 13/08/2020 13:28

Sorry, Marshmallow, blame the heat!

MarshmallowManiac · 13/08/2020 15:21

Haha Boots thanks, she's gone round to the friend's house to get ready for the big night out Grin Wine Gin

Mrsmadevans · 13/08/2020 15:29

Congrats to your Dd Maniac Yay! Grin
Woolly l am not a bit surprised you had a flash flood we have had such terrible rain here it was like a Monsoon!
Boot l hope you are ok, it's awful isn't it , Perimenopause is just the pits Sad Hottie would be ideal but it's too hot! Shock
Wreck well done weeding that is quite enough for today , take it easy it's still too damn hot to do anything!
Nero Can l ask why you have an extractor fan in the attic ? l know we haven't got one and l am thinking perhaps we should Hmm Grin
Fluffy you sound better today headache gone ? Hope so, glad you had a good night sleep Flowers
Off to do the dishwasher and peg the washing out, it's stopped raining now Grin
Pizza again for tea tonight methinks it was delicious last night Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 13/08/2020 15:54

Thanks Mrs yes they are stressful. She was so worried last night, convincing herself that she wasn't going to pass, thankfully she was wrong. All her close friends have passed and got into their unis as well, so I would say there will definitely be some celebrating tonight! Grin
Enjoy your pizza Mrs

Boots hope you are feeling better Smile

WreckTangled · 13/08/2020 17:03

It still hasn't rained. My lawn looks like a desert. It's weird because there's flooding a few miles north, it's like we have a massive umbrella over us.

MarshmallowManiac · 13/08/2020 17:40

No rain here yet either, think it'll be here soon though, 63% chance of rain at 6pm apparently. Tomorrow between 12 and 3 we have 95% chance of rain though. Grin

WreckTangled · 13/08/2020 18:10

I'm two gins down (in case you're wondering how awful my dc have been today HmmGrin).

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2020 18:12

We're on the way to the Lakes, where I'm cat sitting for another MNer and WFSEH (working from somebody else's home!) tomorrow and Monday! We have our whole house in the bloody car, mind you. 🙈😂

No headache today, Mrs. It was probably tiredness plus heat yesterday. Though it was 27° in my bedroom today where I work. Hideous.

What kind of pizza are you having, Mrs?

Wreck, Woolly and Why often miss forecast rain (my mother updates me regularly!). Not today, mind you!

NerosFiddle · 13/08/2020 18:34

Spark still hasn't been 😡.

Mrs it's to avoid condensation. Our house is a new build and it had one when we moved in. But we got our attic floored and stairs put in last year and they had to take it out. Just getting round to putting it in again.

WreckTangled · 13/08/2020 18:36

That sounds fun fluffy!

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2020 18:39

That's rubbish that he just didn't come, Neros. He'd better have a bloody good reason.

Congrats to your DD marshmallow. I have to say I am pleased those days have finished. Even DS (who had GCSE results when I first joined the thread) finally graduated - albeit via Zoom. Just DD to go and I can relax (except I am teacher and so get to worry about other people's DC too Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 13/08/2020 18:54

Oh no Wreck Flowers

Hope sparks comes soon Neros

Thanks so much Constantly, we have DS's GCSEs next week as well Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 13/08/2020 18:56

Hope your DS was happy with his results Constantly, wishing your DD all the very best too Smile

pussycatinboots · 13/08/2020 19:20

fluffy have a good time in the Lakes - you did remember to pack the Dreamies, didn't you?😸

Nero you really shouldn't need an extract fan in a roofspace. It sounds like there is something wrong with the roof design.

Wreck well it is Friday

Sorry, Thursday 😉

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/08/2020 19:32

Congratulations to everyone receiving results.

Constantly I think we were on the same GCSE thread (2015). My DD was hospitalised right in the middle of her exams - swelling from her brain putting pressure on her optic nerves. She did amazingly well all things considered - taking a geography exam two days after a lumbar puncture wasn't good but the rest of her results were good.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/08/2020 22:10

My DD was on her iPhone before 8am to check .....one her her subjects hadn't been updated but she logged into her University site ( she had 2 unconditionals and a Conditional. Of course it was the Conditional offer she wanted to accept ) .
They then gave her an Unconditional Offer which she has formally accepted .
I think they send out offers to overseas students ( my DS course has a high % overseas students ) . Most likely a lot of them wouldn't take the offer up and who knows how many students in my DS year have moved home and possibly not completing .
My DC both live at home which in London Universities probably gives them an advantage .
We pay their travel, food , they get boarded and cared for so all they need to worry about is their studies (DS has a P/T job too)

Hugely stressful time for everyone involved with student teens !

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2020 22:41

Great news for your DD, 70.

I've seen loads of mentions of unconditional offers today. Do they give these more often these days? In my day the majority of offers were conditional, unless you already had results.

Good to hear of all the A level/University news. My knitting is coming on well (kind of) just started my third attempt and so far no extra/dropped stitches. Still early though so time for it to balls up! (See what I did there)? A friend does Burlesque dancing and has asked if I want to try it (she practices in her garden at the moment).

Mrsmadevans · 13/08/2020 23:05

Thank you Nero l think that sounds eminently sensible, we have condensation mould in winter and think we could do with one of those in the roof too Smile
Yay! Congratulations to your Dd 70
Fluffy it was obviously the weather then glad you are ok today Flowers
That is very good of you to go and look after the cats for someone Smile It was a cheast feast pizza with extra cheese & we had a salad with it very nice Smile
Am tired now, we had to wait for the Ambulance for NDN , it took hours, he has an infection in his foot, they were unsure if he had a pulse in his foot so he had to go in , sorted him out , locked his house up and Bob's your Uncle Grin Poor thing Smile
Anyway off to bed with me have a good night sleep everyone Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/08/2020 23:19

Congratulations to your DD 70. I can imagine that it makes a huge difference to a student to have all the home comforts and still enjoy student like. I cannot believe that living in a mouldy cold student house enhances the experience. It definitely didn't for me.

MrsMad you're a good'un to your neighbour. Hope he's ok.

Fluffy enjoy your break away.

why I believe it's good fun and excellent exercise. I'm sure I've seen knitting patterns for nipple covers. You could combine two hobbies.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/08/2020 23:41

Woolly What a good idea. Knitting inspired by Burlesque.

MarshmallowManiac · 14/08/2020 00:08

Many congratulations to your DD 70, my DD was on since before 8am and she didn't hear until 9.15.

Hope your NDN is ok Mrs

Still waiting for the rain Grin
