I just noticed we only have 20 posts left and I'm off to the allotment! So here is thread 7!

@whydoesitalwayshappentome

Ah yes the epic ferry trip to Belgium where Fluffy was so sick I did not realise she would have enough room in her body to contain it all. To be fair it was a force 15 gale with stormy seas to match. Both myself and my aunt were both annoyingly unaffected 😂
You forgot to mention a) the Duty Free perfume and b) the carrier bag giving way! 🤮🤮🤮

I think I said about this a few weeks ago but when I was 6/7 months pregnant we did the ferry from Belfast to Liverpool. I boked everywhere! Half people on board were being sick and the other half were throwing curries and pints down their necks. Envy

MarshmallowManiac · 17/07/2020 21:51

OMG Neros the Irish sea is one of the worst crossings isn't it!! The last time we went on it we were sliding all over the place. When everyone is being sick there is always a fair few at the bar throwing it down, I don't know how they do it Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2020 21:53

Maybe being wankered counter balances the motion of the boat?!

I'll tell you another awful crossing (or two):

  1. The crossing to the Isles of Scilly; and
  2. The crossing to the Isle of Arran.
OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 17/07/2020 21:55

Maybe it does Fluffy, thanks for the heads up on those crossings.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/07/2020 22:21

Hello you chatty lot!

Was the Scilly trip with school Fluffy? Both my DDs went with their school and we were warned about the shallow draught of the ferry meant that passengers were more prone to seasickness than on a channel ferry. DD1 got a good trip both ways. DD2 travelled out in a gale and was one of only 2 people in her party that didn't throw up. She was handing out sick bags, water and chewing gum for the entire voyage. Poor girl is emetophobic and it was grim for her. Better trip back.

Stitches are out and I've spent the day making masks for one of my sisters and a brother. I've run out of blue thread and elastic so everything is on hold until next week.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2020 22:44

Yes, Woolly, the camping trip!

I got washable masks delivered today. Much nicer than disposable ones.

Oh, and yay for stitches out!

One of the worst TV programmes I watched was an Egyptian version of "Name That Tune"

TBF , the bar isn't set that high with the UK version.

DH and i ( pre DC) were in Cairo ( it was Nile Cruise+ Cairo+Luxor)
I was literally shitting through the eye of a needle Xmas Blush , DH said some of the Cruise group were going out for a drink and he really wanted to go but I wasn't well.

"We're in a 5* hotel with Reception and there's a Pharmacy downstairs" I said . "I only want to go from the bed to the loo"

So sprawled on the bed drinking flat 7-Up and watching rubbish TV while praying for my bum to slam shut .

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2020 23:44

We're watching Love Actually. DH chose it from all the choices he could've had. I've trained him well!

I chose to carry on with my gnome tonight, as I was cracking on with him.

I'm a bit of a rubbish traveller too. The pressure of flying set of migraines with accompanying nausea / sickness and boats 🙄

As a teen we went on holiday to Cyprus and did a 3 day cruise to Cairo. Oh my god, me, sis and dad were sick as dogs, didn't really leave our cabin. Dm was fine, scoffing dinner and cocktails and looking at us like we were mad.

Went on a catamaran on my first holiday with DH. I was so sick they brought the boat back, let me and him get off then went back out Blush

DH and I also did a cruise a few years ago. There was a storm, bad enough that the captain turned us around and altered our course so we didn't sail through it but we caught the tail end.
DH went to dinner and the casino by himself. I led in bed feeling very sorry for myself and ordered soup at 3am when it finally subsided.

Weird because we've done another cruise and been whale watching twice and I've been fine on those.

CrazyBaubles · 17/07/2020 23:47

Are you feeling a little less sore now the stitches are out Woolly?

We have a washable mask each too Fluffy - DH went for dark blue, mine is a polka dot one

Jealous that your DH chose Love Actually.

Mine will reluctantly agree to Elf if is the week before Christmas and will sometimes trade Home Alone with me in return for me agreeing to watch Die Hard but it absolutely must be a maximum of a week away from Christmas before he'll even consider it.

CrazyBaubles · 17/07/2020 23:48

DH is still not back from his end of term drinks. I'm pretty sure they walked to the place straight after school so he's been drinking since 4. He's going to be so drink when he gets in, I'm preparing myself to be annoyed (he is a loud, cheerful drunk who makes more noise telling himself to shush than he does doing anything else) 🙄

CrazyBaubles · 17/07/2020 23:50

My coo is coming along now Fluffy - so nice now I can see the face. I think it's the eye that made the difference!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2020 23:54

Yes, the eye does make a massive difference I found that too!

Do you have plans tomorrow? They may not happen!

Happy to hear your stitches are out Woolly Smile

Love your gnome Fluffy We have washable masks in this house too (all black) but I have an extra floral one that if I can, I will wear when I go back to work after the Summer Smile

Cross stitch looking fabulous Crazy Smile Bet he's had a great night, possibly a heavy head tomorrow though Grin

CrazyBaubles · 18/07/2020 00:33

Fluffy I have a few plans but I may have to juggle them anyway to accommodate DHs inevitable hangover but I foresee lots of cross stitching going on 😂

Marshmallow DH has literally just got home. He hasn't made it upstairs yet, I can hear him taking off his shoes and telling the bloody hamster to be quiet because she's running a marathon on her wheel 🙄

I'm giving up and calling it a night now...

DH went on pretty much the same holiday with his first wife (early 90s). She had very similar issues to you. He managed to get away with "The King Tut Struts" for just a day Grin and said everyone on that holiday disappeared off to their room for 24hrs at some point.
WreckTangled · 18/07/2020 07:50

I've just booked Longleat with out Clubcard vouchers and I've booked a premier inn too. Not until the end of the holidays though hopefully it can all go ahead! According to my Zoe app cases are on the up again.

Housework day today. No doubt the dc will moan about how bored they are all day.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2020 07:51

Yes, I think stomach issues are rife on such trips! 💩💩💩💩💩💩

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2020 07:53

Wreck, I've heard about the Zoe app but don't really know what it is. Is this where people tell it how they're feeling each day?

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2020 07:56

Enjoy your trip! We've paid the balance for our Wales holiday today (auto-deducted at 00.01 - keen!) which is at the end of August. I've a feeling it won't happen though. I hope I'm wrong (but as the Welsh government is more sensible, I'm being cautious!).

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 18/07/2020 08:08

Hopefully you'll be ok! Our premier inn is free cancellation up to three days before so hoping that's ok too. Yes the Zoe app is where you report each day if you're well. It also gets some medical info from you and if you've been out of the house lots etc. It's by kings college london and shares info with the nhs. Seems better than any app the government could come up with...

NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2020 08:26

We were going to us the PI near my parents next week, but the restaurant isn't open, so no breakfast. We've booked the Holiday Inn Express instead as their rate includes breakfast so it's still provided.

I stayed awake to book the NT place we go to on the way to my parents on Thursday night too. It's nice to have a stop off on the way. The kids sleep on the way back as they don't fucking sleep in hotel rooms.

The Zoe app sounds interesting.
