Sorry posted too soon

The move before that I commandeered the garage and as each box was filled and labelled it was stored in the garage. One section per room they got put on the van in any old order

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2020 10:45

My moving tip: don't move shit! If you've not used / worn / got it out in forever, bin / charity shop it. Unpacking boxes of 'why the bloody hell do we still have this?!' is soul-destroying!

Reading your post back MrsMad I'm annoyed on your behalf about your mum's not so veiled digs at your DD Angry

My mum had form for similar. My children are all polite and have lovely manners they can be feral at home but are fabulous with relatives. At the time I only had DD1 who was probably about 4. I worked full time and she went to a childminder before and after school. Mum gave her a drink and a biscuit and DD1 said "thank you, nana". Mum turned to me and commented on her lovely manners then followed it up with "she's a credit to you - even though someone else is raising her for you". WTF

It still makes my blood boil after all these years.

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 11:46

😤😡 that's horrible of your Mum @Woolly and completely the same as my Mum behaves 😔

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 11:48

@TheWoollybacksWife

I remember you Hairspray I spent hours trawling the internet looking for the shade of bridesmaid dress you wanted. Did you ever find them?

A week! Hopefully you will get your contented baby and you can unpack your boxes and nest to your hearts content. Are you moving before the birth or after?

I did too Woolly l got very involved 😂
TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2020 12:18

It's hard isn't MrsMad?

SIL messaged me last night about MIL. Since the start of lockdown she has been trying to convert her to online food shopping without any success. DH was visiting MIL on Monday and she told him he'd need to do her shopping at Aldi. I do the shopping for this household so he asked me to talk him through a visit to the supermarket as he hasn't been since lockdown. Between us DD2 and I inadvertently managed to put the fear of God into him about supermarket etiquette and speed scanning at Aldi. So we ended up ordering a click and collect at Asda for her. She thought it was brilliant that she could stand in the kitchen and look through her fridge and cupboards to see what she needed and then I added it to her list. Then DH was there and back in 20 minutes. So she's converted! He's going to do it all again for her next week. SIL thinks it's further evidence that DH is golden balls 🤣

MarshmallowManiac · 15/07/2020 12:33

Afternoon everyone.

Mad times in this house today, taking deliveries here, there and everywhere. Our paving slabs for our garden arrived, along with our bedside cabinets. DH, DS, and DD's boyfriend are all taking the slabs in now. Slowly, slowly, coming together. Smile

Just came back from my run, hardly anyone in the park today. Smile

Haven't even eaten breakfast and nearly lunchtime I will not miss a meal out Wink

Mrs I would be fine with death by chocolate Grin
It's horrendous how your mum was so horrible about your lovely DD. Sad
Hope you can have a breather now and relax and have a lovely mum-free day Wine Brew Cake Flowers

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2020 13:10

Woolly! How rude of your mum!

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 15/07/2020 13:16

Wooly that's really nasty! I am a pushover so would probably have tried to view it as a foot in mouth moment but if she says such things often then she is probably just a jellyfish.

Yes we had dark sage green in the end, I basically had half of mumsnet searching for me, and the other half telling me I was a precious bridezilla Grin

I am really tired today, got soaked walking to my midwife appointment earlier and now I just want to curl up with a cup of tea and nap.

CrazyBaubles · 15/07/2020 13:54

I have a moving service of sorts woolly - basically last time and when we are finally ready, I will pack because im a fussy control freak who doesn't trust others to do it for me and label it all, then on moving day I'll go to work and DH, my dad and our friend will move us.
My job will be to do the finishing touches after they've hefted the furniture 👍🏻

About your Mil, we have similar here but with my mum and my DH.
Ive made so many suggestions - not cremating her beef joint on a Sunday, ordering clothes online, online banking etc. All met with a no. Then DH agreed with me and all of a sudden, not only is it a good idea but DH is some sort of genius for suggesting it 🙄

Of course we remember you Hairspray 👋
Lol about the bridesmaid brigade, MN at its best.

Today is going so slowly. I'm done for the day but have another hour and half of work..

FireflyGirl · 15/07/2020 13:57

I've lived in 3 houses with DH, but I only officially moved into the second, and it was fully furnished so when we moved here we managed with just our cars and my uncle's van. And that's with DH bringing all of his c**p!!

FireflyGirl · 15/07/2020 14:03

We only had R-Cat at the time, and he hated being in the cat box. It was only a 20 minute drive, so DH let him out to sit on his knee. What neither of us thought about was, we'd shut him in the old house all day so he couldn't disappear to the neighbour's, and he has never liked using the litter tray we left him with...

He pooed on DH's knee just as we pulled up to the new house Blush

Oh, and if we ever move again, I will definitely be using a moving company so I can blame them for accidentally losing DH's boxes of c**p

MarshmallowManiac · 15/07/2020 14:29

Hey Hairspray long time no hear, hope you are well.

Don't forget kettle and Choc malted on top of the box Crazy Grin

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 14:42

You weren't always called Hairspray Babe either l seem to remember Smile
Ahh that is so kind of you Maniac Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 14:46

We've lived in 3 houses since we got married. I hated out first house but the next one l really loved so much. I broke my heart when we moved and now l would break my heart if we moved from here Hmm Grin

HairsprayBabe · 15/07/2020 14:59

@Mrsmadevans I have NC a few times for specific posts in other topics but have always been HairsprayBabe as my general user name Smile

I hate our current house it is a shabby rental and the landlord is horrible Sad we have damp and the whole thing is a shoddy finish, the carpet is lifting at the edges, there are issues with the plumbing and the garden is just a bit of waste ground covered in rubble!!

I can't wait to move!! I have also said that this whole thing has been so stressful that I am definitely never moving again, so I hope I like our new house and there are no issues with it!!

Absolutely crying laughing at your poor DH and the traumatized cat @FireflyGirl my own cat also hates the travel box and yowls like she is being murdered at the mere sight of it.

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 15:35

Our cat Percy used to sit on our laps in the car , he was a brilliant cat really clever Grin he didn't do a woopsie in there though unlike yours Fire Grin

blacksmiths09 · 15/07/2020 15:55

Well, I was in Home Bargains today and there was quite a few Xmas things out down the scented candle section.

I was speaking to one of the assistants and she said 10 weeks and they will have everything out!

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2020 16:16

10 weeks is roughly the end of September blacksmith. Bonkers to think that the new school term will be a couple of weeks old by then. We've got a family baby due in about 8 weeks and I'm struggling to keep on schedule with the knitting I've promised. Plus I've got lots of plans for Christmas crafting. I need to get a shift on.

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 16:52

I can't believe how quickly this year is going Hmm
It's not good in my book , we've had a hell of a year all of us .....
This Christmas had better be the best ever wagging finger Grin

MarshmallowManiac · 15/07/2020 16:55

Take heart Hairspray we used to have a horrid landlord, but now we have our own house at last (just in Dec), and you will too hun Flowers

I remember when we bought our old dog and she was so small when we brought her home she fitted under the steering wheel. Smile

Just cut our first broccoli today for dinner, also saw a courgette peeping out. Grin

pussycatinboots · 15/07/2020 17:10

Wreck They weren't that impressed...I didn't get the job 🤷🏻‍♀️. I suspect I'd been "knobbled" as they'd have to train someone up to do all the random shit I used to do some of which they didn't understand I left anyway Grin

pussycatinboots · 15/07/2020 17:15

OK, so I'm loads behind...
Just beginning to read Mrs bloody enormous post from 07.48...can someone please send me some new eyeballs😵

pussycatinboots · 15/07/2020 17:16

Mrs
I'm going to work through this methodically.

  1. Who is Harvey?
pussycatinboots · 15/07/2020 17:21
