I just noticed we only have 20 posts left and I'm off to the allotment! So here is thread 7!

In other news Crazy I am very interested in your squirrel spotting. My boss has several squirrels and she has named two of them after myself and a colleague, which I find hilarious.

FireflyGirl · 15/07/2020 09:00

It's raining here, Wreck, so enjoy your sun!

I've just had a message from school that we'll get DS's report card today. They haven't seen him since a couple of days after his last parents evening, four months ago, so it'll be interesting to see what it says!

MrsM you honestly deserve a sainthood! I'd have had enough of that palaver after about 20 minutes! And as for all that stress by 7.30 this morning!!

Crazy I think that's official confirmation your DH has no soul...

FireflyGirl · 15/07/2020 09:07

I always remember when I was younger and we went on holiday in a forest in a log cabin. It had little wooden blocks you could remove from the wall to watch the wildlife, and I used to sit on the loo watching squirrels Grin

FireflyGirl · 15/07/2020 09:14

Oh, and another squirrel story - when I left school I got a holiday job in the aftersales/customer service department of a caravan company.

Side waffle - I loved getting parts requests from the holiday parks - they wouldn't know what the pieces were called so they would either send in these foot long parts, or draw a (really terrible) picture.

Best customer call ever, though, was complaining about a squirrel inside the roof. I am not entirely sure what they thought I could do about it in a call centre 150 miles away...

CrazyBaubles · 15/07/2020 09:21

why thats 😂
Our resident squirrel appears very fat. I'll have to think up a name for him/her...

Firefly I worry about DHs soul sometimes. Usually, just as I'm running out of hope for him, he does something sweet.

He's excellent with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, ducks and sheep if that helps? (he was brought up on a farm)

Love your holiday log cabin with removable blocks - where was that?

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 09:26

That was yesterday

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 09:32

Lovely squirrel stories 💙

Off for another bout of Joy up Bob's wish me luck 😬😁😂

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2020 09:33

Ooh, ooh, my squirrel story is from when I was at uni in Sheffield.

My friend had parked her car up near loads of trees and when we opened the door to get in, a bloody squirrel jumped in the footwell and wouldn't get out! Silly 🐿

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 09:34

Oh yes am confiscating the glycerine suppositories 😂😂

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2020 09:35

AHH Fluffy he must have been an illegal immigrant 😂

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2020 09:35

MrsMad you deserve a sainthood and a barrel of gin. What is it with some old ladies and their obsession with their bowels?? DM was the same. Mind you I'm starting to obsess over mine. A month on co-codamol hasn't done me any favours. I stopped them at the weekend (no addiction problems 😇) and I reckon I'll be about a stone lighter once things return to normal. Between that and getting my hair cut (whenever that happens) I reckon that will account for any lockdown excesses!

Off to catch up with the rest of the thread now I've left you all with that delightful image.

FireflyGirl · 15/07/2020 09:36

Crazy it was Keldy, in Dalby forest on the outskirts of the North Yorkshire Moors.

Think it's run by Hoseasons now, but it was 25 years ago when we went.

I'd love to take DS - it was a proper down and dirty holiday. I also did a Dr Foster in a very innocuous looking puddle, and was deposited fully dressed in the shower when I got back to the lodge (luckily the bathroom was right next to the front door - probably for this reason Grin)

HairsprayBabe · 15/07/2020 09:44

Hi all, not sure if anyone remembers me - I used to post ages ago but fell off the thread and never found time to come back round due to work, an imenent house move and a very sickly pregnancy 🤢....

But I have just gone one maternity leave so hopefully I will have a very well behaved baby and lots of time to browse -waste time- on mumsnet!

Baby is due in a week but I am convinced I am going over, very very excited to meet them - and possibly more excited for their first Christmas!

Reading back through now ❤️ hope everyone is well!

NerosFiddle · 15/07/2020 09:46

I've just ate 4 hash browns and I'm still starving. Might make myself another couple with some poached eggs.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2020 09:54

I remember you Hairspray I spent hours trawling the internet looking for the shade of bridesmaid dress you wanted. Did you ever find them?

A week! Hopefully you will get your contented baby and you can unpack your boxes and nest to your hearts content. Are you moving before the birth or after?

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2020 09:57

Neros now I want hash browns and bacon and all I've got is a cup of tea and a slice of toast.

It's cool and damp here so I think I'll make myself some soup for lunch. Ham and red lentil is my go-to and I'll just chuck it all in the soup maker and go and carry on with my knitting while it does it's stuff. Thank goodness I don't have to go out as I feel a cosy day is on the cards.

HairsprayBabe · 15/07/2020 10:02

@TheWoollybacksWife
Hello! No never got the ones I orginally wanted I ended up with something different, multiway dresses - but with tuille skirts they looked lovely though!

Yes my house is full of boxes at the moment - not sure how to to organise them.

It is a bit of a waiting game - I don't think baby will be here until August we don't have a moving date yet but both is and the seller are chain free so we can move as soon as the paperwork goes through.

We are currently waiting on a freehold/leasehold snag that has gone to the land registry so no idea how long that will take - I do know if they have an enquiry that is delaying a property sale they have to expedite their timescales... But I don't know how quickly they work normally

I would ideally like to move before the baby arrives I think boxes and a bump is more manageable than boxes and a baby Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 15/07/2020 10:07

The sun has gone but I've hung the washing out anyway. 10% chance of rain so hopefully ok.

I don't have a squirrel story we have loads round here though. Think I've run a few over.

Mrs I don't know how you put up with all the shit from your mum I don't think I could do it. I'd be on the phone to social services and leaving them to it Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2020 10:15

Wreck! 😱😱😱 That's a very casual squirrel-slaughtering reference it's fine if they're grey ones though.

And me too re Mrs' mum. I'd be leaving her to it. It's a big commitment providing care. The least she could do is acknowledge that / show gratitude. Whereas she takes the piss by actively causing nuisance. It's not on.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2020 10:16

@HairsprayBabe we were very lucky the last time we moved as we went for the packing service so the packed everything and then put the boxes on the van.

Unpacking was a completely different scenario 😱. If something was in a different room to usual it was packed where it stood - so if I'd left my deodorant in the bedroom for example it got packed in a box of loose things from bedroom surfaces and labelled by the movers as 'Bedroom photos etc' where I would put it in a box labelled 'Bathroom' after faffing about putting everything back in its home and taking two weeks about it!

Haven't RTFT but @KVlovesWinter I second getting a BH tree and definitely a pre-lit one. They are beautiful and extremely realistic. Everyone who visits compliments it and they really do look amazing! Picked mine up in the July sale too, with every penny IMO.
