Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

Could have, but don't have to now! Grin

Firefly, she can be as creative as she likes when she's making the outfit!

Dunno if anyone has a Boots card, you might want to read this^

Mrsmadevans · 04/03/2020 18:40

Thank you @Puss l know what you say is right, they are al grade 1 A..holes!
What about the Boots and Tesco attacks isn't it awful? I haven't been emailed so l presume mine are ok but still you don't expect this do you especially from 2 top retailers who should have a massive cyber team Hmm
Ahh Biddy have a day off on Friday with DD instead of the sewing machine Smile she won't want to spend any time with you as she gets older if she is like my 2 , all perfectly normal l know Smile

WreckTangled · 05/03/2020 06:56

The good thing about WBD is that the dc get up and dressed without me having to moan at them once Grin

Morning!

Always a blessing somewhere, Wreck! Grin

There's been an air frost overnight, so the ground isn't frozen, but cars and the roofs of houses are! The allotment ground probably froze as it's about 3° colder there due to no houses / street lights / urban activity to warm it. Happy garlic if so! 😄

Biddy, I agree with everyone re your day off.

I told DS we are going to get seeds sown this weekend. He told me it's his very favourite thing to do! ❤️❤️ He loves growing things and baking. Funny boy!

The fields are frozen on the way to Liverpool, so I think the allotment most likely is too. Yay!

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 05/03/2020 07:18

You have a bit of a thing about your garlic Smile I hope DS enjoys his sowing, although I thought he enjoyed the picking and eating just as much Grin
I'm going to have to sort some pots out for my carrots soon. In hindsight it may have been a bit OTT to buy quite so many daffs, crocus, tulips etc i luffs spring so I'm a bit lacking in big pots for the spuds Blush B&M to the rescue I guess. And I want another Magnolia, and that will need a fair sized pot too.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/03/2020 07:23

Oh, he does! Definitely loves eating!

The garlic won't split into cloves without frost, so I am quite obsessed, yes! 😂😂

My bulbs don't all come up. I think they get eaten by rodents! As long as I get some of them, I'm happy! And bearing in mind I've planted around 500 of the buggers, I'm OK with my success rate so far.

I'm putting potatoes in the ground at the allotment this year. I need to get them chitting!

pussycatinboots · 05/03/2020 07:35

I'm doing Charlotte spuds in big plastic tubs on the patio again this yr, you get enough from 1 tub/2 spuds for 8-10 servings, they crop well and DH feeds them weekly... I need to buy some first Grin
DH planted 100 bulbs around the edge of the lawn 5ish yrs ago. 1 came up last year, none this year so far. I put them in pots, then when they're over pull them up and dry them in the sun. Store in a sturdy open cardboard box (a salad box from morrisons is good) in the shed 'til Sept when they go back in.

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 08:21

Morning everyone 😀
Am lying here watching ready steady cook 😀😋😋
I used to love it😀
Rylan is a good host but not as relaxed into the role yet, it will come l am sure 👍
Puss did l read right your DH planted 500 bulbs and only 1 bulb has ever flowered?
Then you dig them up every year and dry them out and replant them ? I have read that wrong l am sure 🤣
Hey ho it made me lol anyway 😀

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 08:22

100 bulbs not 500 🤣

pussycatinboots · 05/03/2020 08:26

the first year they (nearly) all came up, 2nd yr prob about 75, third yr about 20 last yr about 1Grin this year nada! hence the need for pots

WreckTangled · 05/03/2020 08:31

Mrs I loved ready steady cook! Where can I watch it?! I like Rylan too.

It's wet and miserable here but the dc have gone off to school happily. I'm looking forward to work this morning, it's always fun going to a school on WBD.

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 08:45

Puss l didn't realise that bulbs did that ! I thought they made extra bulbs lobes and kept going forever 🙄
dunno what the extra lobes are called 🤣
Wreck it's on BBC 1 @4.30 Mon to Fri. It's repeated again in the morning on BBC 2 at 7.15am. 🤗
I like Rylan too 😀👍
I see the great interior design challenge is back on too , l love this ♥️😁
Think it's a new series too 😁 Yay!
Better shift have a lovely day everyone 😀

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 08:47

Have a great day in work Wreck l would enjoy seeing the little ones in their costumes ♥️👍😀

pussycatinboots · 05/03/2020 10:39

Mrs They're supposed to Hmm I dig the pots up for summer plants and veg Grin

CrazyBaubles · 05/03/2020 13:42

After all the gardening talk, can I ask if there is anything I can realistically grow in pots in a garden that doesn't really get any sun? I'd like to try potatoes / garlic but no idea where to start.

My SM is full of world book day pics 🙄

I will post a pic of my cross stitch later, it finally feels like its coming on

EmrysAtticus · 05/03/2020 15:21

DS has a top covered in animals so just took one of his many books about animals Grin

He had an awful night terror last night, worst one yet. He was running around looking for me but didn't recognise me so wasn't comforted by me, kept pushing me away :(

WreckTangled · 05/03/2020 15:47

Oh no emrys that's horrible! Does he have them often?

Crazy ds was Ronaldo but in my defence last year he refused to dress up at all, so I was pleased he wanted to participate, and also it was heroes and heroines and Ronaldo is his hero Grin dd was Malala Smile

I'm starting to get the corona fear. I'm going to do a food shop tomorrow and get extras in.

CrazyBaubles · 05/03/2020 15:56

Oh dear, I didn't mean to be so judgy on the outfits Blush
It is silly because it doesn't effect me, it's just that there's a little voice in the back of my mind that says "but that's not a book" every time I see one.

Emrys that sounds so scary for him. Was he ok this morning?

NoWordForFluffy · 05/03/2020 15:56

Crazy, some kids won't dress up. Getting DS to go in anything is a miracle!

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 16:17

Wreck do any of the supermarkets do deliveries for you ? I wonder if it would be worth you doing a delivery instead of the petrol/Coronavirus exposure, just a thought Grin
Malala did your DD go as Malala Yousafzai ? I don't know of ny other Malala . I would be so proud of my DD if she went as her Smile
Crazy have not seen any pics of Dc with costumes on for WBD l must not frequent with the ppl who have DC. l am too old Sad
Em night terrors are horrible, they just can't be consoled no matter what you do ahh bless him Flowers

WreckTangled · 05/03/2020 16:44

Mrs after my stock up shop tomorrow I'll be going online only. Obviously I go into schools lots but children remain largely unaffected at the moment. Yes Malala Yousafzai! She's read her book.

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 16:52

Wreck great idea l don't think the little ones seem to be the problem either, it seems to be a problem for ppl with underlying health issues and the elderly with Underlying health issues. I can't quite get over the furore of this Coronavirus. Dh said it is natures way of saving the human race Hmm
Your DD is fab , do you know that? Bless her fancy reading Malala's book. it couldn't hav ebeen easy reading either! I bought it for my Mum for Christmas one year and l still haven't read it . I want to just no time yet Hmm one day l promise myself Smile

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 05/03/2020 17:17

Hi folks. Wow this course is intense. Only half a day left then we move on to something a little lighter in nature. I am OK with it all just tired from all the information being given.

I know our health authority had the NHS equivalent of a Cobra meeting today and we may be redeployed as our service is new and not up and running but we shall see what happens.

I only managed to get my son dressed up for world book day once and he went as Harry Potter with a costume I bought.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/03/2020 17:41

Ah Em, how upsetting. Is he OK when he wakes up? I hope you have a better night tonight. Flowers
