Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

I've locked myself out of my work system and the dc are fighting. 😭😭

NoWordForFluffy · 24/03/2020 11:04

I've broken a fight up over a multiplication chart already this morning. There were tears (not mine yet).

My work phone system app is being odd and very laggy. It's going swimmingly. 🙄

Firefly has crashed this morning and poor DS looks a bit defeated. He's having half an hour on his Switch and trying again in a bit.

FireflyGirl · 24/03/2020 11:33

We've done Lego, and Teach Your Little Monster to Read. DS is happily sat spelling out lots of words to himself while I deal with work emails. I figure we've got at least 3 weeks of this, so might as well be pretty chilled.

Wine Wreck. It's lunchtime in Spain already!

It's beautiful outside so I've pegged the washing out and had a peek at the rest of the garden. Spring is springing Grin

For those of you with smaller DC who like David Walliams books he is doing a different free 20 minute or so audio book each day at 11am via his website. I think it is a listen then only kind of thing though, but might be good for a bit of quiet time with a drink and a snack.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/03/2020 12:01

I wonder why PBPs keep targeting this thread?! They also think we're thick and won't notice! ConfusedAngry

It's ridiculous! So pathetic. Then also seem to be particularly fond of you fluffy Grin and mrs!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/03/2020 12:27

I can assure them that a) I'm not fond of them and b) I can see through their friendly facade!

Not another one! For goodness sake!

I would say have they nothing better to do, but at the minute probably not!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 24/03/2020 12:44

I knew straight away. She might as well named herself troll.

pussycatinboots · 24/03/2020 15:30

You could smell the hairy toes a mile off Grin

It must be your perfume, fluffy, "Eau De Troll" Hmm Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/03/2020 16:24

🤮 thanks for that image Boots

Firefly is up and running again and DS has done all the work set for today. All my DC did the Joe Wicks PE lesson this afternoon (during what would have been DS's PE lesson at school). All my DC are now having a lie down.

Heading into the kitchen now to sort out some chicken curry for dinner.

Stupid question time... I'm only going to be getting to the shops on Monday as our SI finishes on Sunday. Apart from not having any yoghurts or crisps we are managing food wise. What are stocks like in the supermarkets? Particularly interested in anything from why and PJ - I usually shop in big Tesco but I'm flexible.

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 16:36

Afternoon everyone Smile
Fluffy unbeknowns to me , Mum stayed the night at Bob's last night . Thank God. They weren't going to tell me but Mum confessed this morning to me. I told her to stay there and we would take her everything up to his. So it was such a stroke of luck they did that. Bob was worried about Mum staying on her own last night so he bought her home and persuded her to go back up with him. They weren't going to tell me but l was going on to her this morning and saying they wouldn't be able to stay together now and she told me. I think someone was looking down on the both of them last night. My God they were lucky Smile

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 16:40

I knew it was a troll like you say Fluffy it's so obvious, l have been taken in previously by them , felt sorry for them and thought poor things to be feeling the need to do that Hmm l am an idiot Grin . Think we need to hunker down here just us lot and keep the Corona trolls away Grin

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 16:53

Have been busy all bloody day trying to sort out PPE for Mum. Apparrently unless you have Covid19 symptoms, Powys Council don't issue any PPE to anyone receiving care Hmm . It's too bloody late when they've got it ! Hmm Seems to me a lot of ppl have been caught unawares, Councils included. Been chasing clarification about carers and if they need a pass to travel, No one seems to have the foggiest idea. Will get Mum sorted with at least a weeks supplies in advance, then if we get it she is sorted, until we can get back to see her.
Have cooked a Beef casserole with dumplings l tell you fo rtea tonight and it smells delish! Grin
Is it just me or is anone else off their food? I am afraid it is the start of the CV but know it is just my stress and anxiety making me feel awful Hmm
Woolly , Morrisons is totally stocked even hand wash and toilet rolls only thing l couldn't get was hand gel and that is like liquid gold methinks. I didn't need them and l left them for others Smile

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 17:04

Dd2 tonsils are still bad, l am worried about her but she says she is ok , funny enough l feel so relieved re Mum and Bob it's a weight off my mind. Will put the latest pic on in my next post , so be warned if it puts you off , don't look at my next post Grin

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 17:10

Here they are , l wonder if she has had quinsy because it looks like something has burst on her left tonsil 🥺🤯
I can't believe how lucky we were to get Mum there and my sibs can't say much about it because it is a fait accompli 😁.
Well done Bob!

FireflyGirl · 24/03/2020 17:13

I'm off my food, MrsM, but it's morning sickness rather than anxiety. All I want to eat is carbs and chocolate biscuits. I'm going to be the size of a house by the time I go to work.

I'm so glad your DM's got some company during this. It's no time to be home by yourself! I'm sure I've seen somewhere that carers are excluded from the 'stay home' requirement.

Think supermarket stock depends on when they get their deliveries Woolly - our local coop had no loaves of bread last night and all I wanted to eat was toast Sad

Speaking of - how did the slow cooker bread experiment go, why?

FireflyGirl · 24/03/2020 17:17

There are definitely worse times of year we could have been in lockdown! This was the allotment today.

DS used my brassica hoops as an assault course, kept him occupied and running around for about 20 minutes. That kid is living the dream at the moment! Grin

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 17:24

Fire ahhh yes morning sickness , now l have read it's a good sign and means the pregnancy hormones are increasing but l don't have the research to back it up Grin
Your allotment looks brilliant , good for Ds to be so active in the fresh air. What a stroke of luck allotments are not off limits ....YAY!!
Another one here who wants to know how the slow cooker bread went Why Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 24/03/2020 17:35

Here we go. Fruitcake (not done in the slow cooker) and slow cooker bread. It feels a bit denser than usual though

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 17:55

Why it looks fantastic well done Star
So tomorrow is Rudolph day what are we going to do for it everyone Smile

FireflyGirl · 24/03/2020 18:07

Wish away the next 9 months? Wink

It might be a good day to do salt dough gift tags. I Pinned them, but never got chance to make them last year. Ooh, also, can double as a spelling lesson! Pretend like I'm educating DS instead of 'unschooling' him!

I saw a meme which says something along the lines of 'The clocks go forward next weekend. Not sure how far - can I suggest 4 months?' GrinGrin

I was so glad that they clarified allotments are not out of bounds. It's a bigger space than the garden, and there's more of a sense of achievement. I know I'm digging today to get yummy homegrown strawberries in 3 months! At home, anywhere I dig the cats will try and use as a toilet Envy

CrazyBaubles · 24/03/2020 18:17

Allotments are looking good.

MrsMad I definitely think it can only be a good thing for your dm to be locked down at Bobs. Does your sister know?

Why on earth do trolls keep finding our thread? This is the nicest, drama-less part of mumsnet that there is 🙄
At least this one was short-lived.

I've been for a walk with the dog (an hour), done a few bits around the house and cross stitched. Have also learned that you can do group video calls on WhatsApp so have done that with 2 friends and again with my mum and sister.

Now cooking tea and just waiting for DH to get home. He was so stressed yesterday (he's been moved to a different school but they had no idea how many pupils they would have today) he's barely sleeping and I can't work out how to help him ☹️

Tomorrow may be a Christmas film and Christmas crochet afternoon to celebrate Rudolph day and give me something else to concentrate on 🎄

Mrsmadevans · 24/03/2020 18:38

Crazy yes my sister KNOWS Grin
When Mum told me, at half 7 this morning she always phones me then .
I told her she had to tell my sister. My sister phoned me in a right state after she had spoken to Mum, she was almost hysterical. l said to her 'why are you crying?' . She said 'because l feel it is all being left for you to do'. I was so angry, she didn't mean a word of it it was because she wasn't top dog any more. l said to her, ' isn't it always left to me to do it, look at the ten weeks after Dad died when l stayed for 10 weeks isn't it always me?'. She then denied that was the reason she was crying. I replied 'that is what you told me' she denied it again. I wasn't having it, she had just said that to me and she was trying to lie for GOD knows what reason. So she then said'l am upset because l am realising how the home is disintegrating and l will miss Mum' and put the phone down. So l rung her back and said 'don't you think that is a very childish thing to do, putting the phone down?' She denied it was her end and said she didn't know what had happened . Anyway in the end , she coceeded it was the best thing for Mum. So we shall see Hmm
I think it's the same troll tbh.
Your poor Dh bless him Flowers
Fire love salt dough dollies , my DDS used to do them Smile
