Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

Neros, my flu was in September and was brought back from Dubai by a colleague!

I've had all sorts of CV symptoms, except fever and continuous cough (so the ones you isolate with). I'm still feeling a bit rough, to be honest. It's the tight chest that's the scariest. Horrible feeling.

Chances are that we may have had / have CV. Not everyone has serious symptoms.

Mrs, have you been asked to go back to work? I'm assuming you're a prime target to be drafted up?

Enjoy your expensive ginger nuts, Wreck. Hopefully they're worth it!

I'm still debating how best to do our shopping from now on. I suppose I'll have to go first thing, though that's annoying. I'll weigh it up!

Good evening everyone. About to leave for second night shift of four. I did not sleep well today so I could be grouchy in the morning.

I am going to be doing some tech guru shiz later so if all the landlines in Britain go down that will be me 😂

PJMasksGhekko · 20/03/2020 19:53

Ha ha why, have a good shift!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/03/2020 20:19

Hello everyone keeping safe I hope !

It's eerie outside , driving to work takes a fraction of the time the Dr practices in the Health Centres are closed . Patients either cancelling , arriving saying I didn't think you'll still be open or turning up really late because the buses are up the swanney .

My poor hands suffer enough but now they are ready to crumple up like The Mummy's hands and turn to dust . Tons of handcream .

The cats are a worry (not the cats themselves) their food and litter . Still got a stash of both , and the little ratbags scoffed down a tin of tuna (Thank God It's Friday they say Xmas Grin ) The tuna was bought for them , we don't eat it .

I'm trying to find out when Tesco are doing the NHS Hour (Sunday) . I have an NHS ID Badge and like Puss DH , I can hoist up my vest and show my very impressive scars - . Damn those scars are fierce but fading nicely .

I have pre-booked leave next week so I can stay indoors .
Sort out winter clothes to go in the attic
Vacuum and shampoo the hall carpet

DD is fretting now about exams -she wants to sit them to get her grades for University . Everyone is in the same boat but she is panicked about losing her place Sad

Mrsmadevans · 20/03/2020 20:35

FLUFFY It is very difficult to know if you have or had CV isn't it? There should be much better testing from now on though with luck and this new way of testing to see if ppl have had it already .
No, l haven't been asked back yet and tbh if it wasn't for Mum l would willingly go and l mean that . I always found a special camaraderie existed between my colleagues on my team it was a pleasure to go to work. l loved looking after my patients and it gave me great personal satisfaction. When Dad was so ill and Mum was so disabled and there were murmurings about nursing homes from my Sister and her Dh, l gave up and retired to look after them. I am not a saint but l just couldn't see them in a home. My words to my Bil were 'they will go in a home over my dead body' Angry
I think there will be plenty of food in the shops soon, all the ppl who are stockpiling will have filled everywhere in their houses to bursting point and it will ease off . It's daft but l have found my little local Tesco to be much better stocked than a Tesco Extra. l wonder if the Tesco Express are the ones to go to tbh!
Nero we were all poorly around Christmas time here but l know it was just a nasty virus that was doing the rounds, coughing like hell then mind but not a dry cough like the CV symptoms Hmm
PJ l know how you feel , DD2 has had terrible throat , the antibiotics are working now but her throat was awful. She still went into work despite being poorly because as you all saw, from the horrible throat pics, it was obvious it was tonsillitis. Yet she worked at home today and one of her colleagues is self isolating on the advice of her Dr because she has a sore throat and she has tonsillitis like DD2 , he gave her antibiotics as well for it . So l wonder if they are just telling everyone they come into contact with to self isolate even if there is an obvious cause for their illness. Confused
Why have a good shift m'dear hope you don't have too much eye strain from all the IT stuff Smile l used to find the busier l was on a night shift the better l felt Grin you would think it would be the other way about !
Better go Monty is on Smile

PJMasksGhekko · 20/03/2020 21:01

I don't think we have it, I'm annoyed but what can I do, Dd's cough meant we had to self isolate, even though I know it was to do with her getting a cold, it was a new cough too. I feel knackered even by not doing much lol, I normally hit 10,000 steps everyday, not happening now.

Mrs is your dining room clutter free, I got rid of about 7 pairs of trainers from under the stairs, next week one of my next to do things is Ds2's football drawer, it's heaving with kit that doesn't fit anymore.

70's your poor daughter, such an uncertain time for them x

Mrsmadevans · 20/03/2020 21:39

PJ it is so difficult to tell isn't it , they are right to tell us to self isolate l know but honesty the sooner they get these tests rolled out the better. It will put a lot of ppls minds at rest & let ppl get their lives back to normality. My dining room is tidy atm Grin. l have bagged it all up in the proper bags and done the DDS Easter bags , have bought them eggs and got them an Emma Bridgewater mug with a chick on it, they only cost me a fiver each they were from the outlet but l would never know they were seconds . I had 8 for £41.70 about 8 months ago when they did a big sale Smile

70 l am so sorry your poor DD , it is so unfair bless you all Flowers

WreckTangled · 21/03/2020 03:59

Eugh. Awake again. My sleep has been awful recently I can imagine it's only going to get worse

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/03/2020 06:05

Tonight's shift was so tough. Exhausted.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/03/2020 07:23

Bless you why hope you manage to get some rest today.

Our plans for today are to drive to somewhere secluded and have a nice walk and I need to get my garlic, onion sets and first early potatoes into the ground.

Morning!

It's nice and sunny here today. Apparently it's cold right now too, but I'm in bed still, so haven't discovered this for myself yet!

Why, get thee to bed.

Most, sounds like a good plan. I think we're attempting the greenhouse again today and I'm going digging tomorrow!

Wreck, I've had godawful sleep recently. I think many of us have.

I'm going to be well down on steps too. Fitbit just emailed about keeping fit, but I've not read it yet.

The kids aren't awake yet, which I'm pleased about. They need their rest.

Just hung my washing out for the first time this year!

pussycatinboots · 21/03/2020 09:40

Morning.
Didn't sleep much, up at half 4. Went to Sains at 7 - you can get anything you want except: anything in a tin (except coke) anything on a roll (other than bread rolls) cat food and litter Shock I've told our 2 to eat less and cross their paws Hmm not sure they've got the message Sad

Sains opening hrs from Mon are Mon-Sat 8 til 8, but with 8-9am reserved for elderly, vulnerable and NHS staff on Mon, Wed and Fri.
Normal 10-4 on a Sunday.
I think they're probably nationwide not just our store which is why i've put them on here.

Most hoped you've weighed it down, or you'll be chasing it GrinShock
why go to bed
Fluffy Hmm good luck with the greenhouse poor DH Grin

pussycatinboots · 21/03/2020 09:44

Oh, and they've got no beer and very little Wine Shock

NoWordForFluffy · 21/03/2020 10:10

We put our washing out all year. We're avid forecast-watchers! If it's dry overnight, we get it put out, even if the days are forecast wet.

It's probably dry now as it went out last night. It looks breezy I'm having second thoughts about the greenhouse. Grin

I forgot ham from Sainsbury's. It's the one bloody thing I went for as DS only really likes theirs.

I saw the opening hours, Boots. But ours still opened at 7.30 today. I was Confused on arrival.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/03/2020 10:45

Unfortunately our garden is north facing and sheltered so after the end of October stuff just doesn't dry :(

CrazyBaubles · 21/03/2020 11:28

I don't use our washing line either. It's up some rickety, uneven stone steps which I have fallen down before (ended up with bruised hip and sprained wrist) so not doing that again!

why I hope you're fast asleep right now

I cleaned my dining room yesterday too MrsMad - a proper deep clean including emptying and sorting the cupboard and drawers in the dresser.

Plan for today is to cross stitch, read, walk the dog and try not to worry to much...

NoWordForFluffy · 21/03/2020 11:44

We're north facing, but get the coastal breeze still. We're lucky, I suppose! (Except we get 40+ mph winds every other week at the moment!)

I've cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, so that's a job done. I need to pot my cucumbers on now!

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/03/2020 12:15

Your day sounds fab Crazy :)

I need to pot on my leeks fluffy.

We had an extremely brisk walk up in the hills.

WreckTangled · 21/03/2020 12:19

I popped out and managed to get some potatoes for my dad. We're going to see them this afternoon (for a walk only) as it'll be the last time for a while. I also did some doorstop swapping with people who can't get things for their sensory kids. I'm in agony with my hip but trying not to take painkillers as I'm worried we will run out.

pussycatinboots · 21/03/2020 12:42

Can I have advice re: growing peppers from seed? Seeing as there be experts here Grin
I've got one to use for lunch tomorrow (chicken and med veg lasagne). If I clean it out as usual, do i just pat the seeds dry, then put them on a tray of compost? and in a window or in the airing cupboard?

Fluffy they announced the change of hours as we were leaving. There was a queue at 7 to get in.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/03/2020 12:48

I grew my peppers in a propogator (not a heated one just put it next to a radiator) and they have worked well so far.

PJMasksGhekko · 21/03/2020 12:49

Living room tidy, for now, have ordered a couple of games for the switch, so waiting for them to arrive, I love Mario Kart but would like something else to play every now and then Grin

Washing is also on the line, I love it when I can get it out, as during the winter our garden gets no sun whatsoever!!

Dh is doing jobs he's been meaning to get done, he was ill pretty much all Christmas so he's using this time to do it.

Dad got Mum a basket of flowers and a pack of Smirnoff ice for mother's day for me so she's happy Grin
