Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

Your lucky DM, PJ! My mum's getting a book I ordered delivered to her house off Amazon. It was 6 days delivery even with Prime!

I said to DH, it's the end of the world and I can't even drink! May have been catastrophising slightly...

I got really excited to see it's going to be sunny. I love snuggling down at night in freshly washed bedding that's been line dried. It smells divine ❤️

On the other hand, I've been debating putting the Christmas lights back up... Grin

DS asked to do some Lego. I agreed, thinking he wanted to do the set we got for his birthday. Nope, he's been eyeing up the Christmas gingerbread house I bought for me. I have said 'Remember, this is mummy's Lego' more times than I care to count Blush

I have a shopping delivery coming tomorrow, so asked my elderly neighbour if she wanted anything adding. She's asked for part-baked rolls and a box of tissues, bless her Grin

Just did some good work on the allotment :)

Lovely hearing news of everyone's normal weekends. I've got two loads of laundry on the line - the first outdoor drying of the year.

I had a bit of a blip yesterday and was guilty of catastophising. Our SI has got another 8 days to go. We are ok for food (and bog roll) but could do with some more fresh orange juice, fruit and treats. Someone has just posted on our local FB page that the local mini supermarket is starting deliveries so I may investigate. They won't judge me for wanting cola and chocolate, will they?

FireflyGirl · 21/03/2020 17:01

I think they'll probably celebrate that you're not wanting rice and loo roll, Woolly.

Good job most.

Saw this about a BBC adaptation of Malory Towers and thought of this thread Grin

DH finished putting the panels back in the greenhouse, so I've spent the afternoon tidying it up so I can get in there and start planting. I've potted on the chillies and aubergines, and going to sow cucumber and courgette after tea. Gardeners World started last night, so that'll kill half an hour tonight. Rock and roll on a Saturday in the Firefly household!

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/03/2020 17:09

They delivered! I've had a twirl and all is right in my little world today.

We watched Gardeners World last night Firefly. There was a bit on chitting potatoes and I thought of this thread. Are seed potatoes best to use or could I let some salad spuds go over? Will they grow in a grow bag? All this is assuming the garden centre down the road stays open.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/03/2020 17:10

Morning, afternoon and evening 😂 whichever we are. Finished shift at 08.30 and was in bed at 09.40. Up at 16.00 to do it all again.

Glad to see you are all enjoying your gardens. Would have loved to have sat in my patch of sun on my wall today but there will be other days.

pussycatinboots · 21/03/2020 17:20

Woolly I've used seed pots in previous yrs, but couldn't get the Charlottes I wanted last yr (left it a bit late i think) so I bought a bag from Tesco, ate half and let half chit. They were fine Smile
You need some decent height planters/tubs (or potato sacks) but you can use gro-bag compost. You have to cover the leaves/shoots up as they grow - about 12" on top of the spud is enough.
They're a doddle.

Depressing figures from Italy, this is scary, and still people ignore the advice.

PJMasksGhekko · 21/03/2020 23:01

New Collie picture, don't fall for the cuteness, she's been a sod today!!

Awww PJ butter wouldn't melt Xmas Grin

Her body is trying to pretend to be relaxed but her face is

"I am a coiled spring. One false move I tell you. Gone on. I dare you" Xmas Wink

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/03/2020 07:12

PJ she is perfect and you can't persuade me otherwise I'm afraid.

Hope everyone has a nice relaxing Sunday. We have a Sunday lunch coming from a local restaurant so looking forward to that.

Morning!

Not enough sleep again. Due to the late night really! We watched Bohemian Rhapsody which was brilliant!

I've germinated my peppers in a heated propagator but Most's way is essentially the same thing!

Woolly, not only can you use normal spuds which have chitted, if they have multiple chits you can cut them and get multiple plants from one spud!

I'm meant to be digging today. I'm not looking forward to it. 💤

Morning. I'm still in bed. Told dd off for coming into my room at 6:38 then had to apologise because she had a card for me BlushGrin forgot it's Mother's Day.

The sun is out again though so that's something.

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 07:32

Good morning everyone 😀
Happy Mother's day to everyone wether you have DC or are Mummies to your Darling Furry babies 😍💐🤗 Hope everyone is feeling fine this morning. I and my family are ok atm but l keep feeling like I have symptoms 🥺 Wreck OMG that was so sweet of your DD and poor you to not realise ahh bless her💐🤗

FireflyGirl · 22/03/2020 07:37

Woolly I've seen people be advised against using supermarket potatoes because they're not disease resistant. But if you're growing in your back garden it's unlikely to have a big impact. Rather than a grow bag, if you get two tubs that stack and cut bits out of one, it makes harvesting easier. I'll try to find a photo of what I mean.

My online shopping order is due soon. No tinned beans, no pasta, no washing up liquid (not even a substitute!!), no potatoes, and DNeighbour's tissues are missing. Oh, and no loaf of bread, not even a substitute. Guess I'll have to get kneading!

On the plus side, the chocolate biscuits I was able to order are included! Every cloud...Grin

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 07:37

Fluffy have a lovely day in the allotment 🤗. Did you see all the NT properties have shut their parklands now 🤯 . Dear God that will be a huge blow for a lot of ppl. Has to be done though.
Have been thinking about moving Mum to Bob's tbh . I know it won't go down well but l think it might be for the best. I will have to ponder over this 🙄🥺

FireflyGirl · 22/03/2020 07:40

Woolly like this.

I'd forgotten as well, Wreck. I've lost track of the days! I'm going to demand breakfast in bed!!

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 07:42

Fire it's good you have the biscuits 😀
The bread shortage l don't understand, we have so much bread available normally 😬. My thinking is that there is plenty of stock but no one to put it out, deliver it because why else would the supermarkets be recruiting for so many more workers?

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 07:47

Most have a lovely Sunday lunch m'dear it sounds amazing 🤗🍠😋😋😋
Am thinking of calling you MO or what would you like me/us to call you only l have an aversion to Moist and it is too like it for me 🙄🥺🤯😂😂😂 take no notice 😂😅😅

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 07:49

PJ ahhh she's a delight 😍😍😍

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 07:52

Why well done m'dear 🤗 you are doing a cracking job 🤗💐

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2020 08:04

Boot excellent link thank you 😂😁
Have decided to only shop when we really need to. I think if we are trying to keep ourselves safe then the less time we go out the better. DH is nearly hanging himself he loves to go out all the time and it's difficult for him to stay here but he will have to get on with it .In the meantime, Matalan has a sale on and l am going to distract myself with planning and ordering furnishings for Dd2 . They have a gorgeous duvet cover and cushions there l think it's best for us to try and focus on more positive things . Only l have felt very panicky on times and been looking at the news too much. I don't think there is enough positively coming over. Am going to Mum's this morning because I have to as her carer but l have stopped kissing everyone even my DH. I still sleep no sex much to his sorrow 😂😂😂 with him mind .

NoWordForFluffy · 22/03/2020 08:27

I forgot it was Mother's Day too! 😂😂 DD thought it was hilarious.

Why, delivered Sunday lunch sounds interesting. Let us know how it is!

Everywhere we have a membership to is closed, so I'm spending money on things we can't do. But I'd feel bad cancelling the DDs as they need the money!

I'm annoyed that the DCs' swimming teacher isn't cancelling lessons. He's claiming that it's safe which means we have to keep paying him. I understand it's his income, but defying science and the gym / leisure centre closures (it's at a private house) is wrong, IMO. Loads of the parents who clearly have more money than us! have said they'll pay anyway, so he really needs to stop the lessons. We aren't going from next week so will just lose the money.

I can't get motivated for the allotment, Mrs. Tough times! 😂

WreckTangled · 22/03/2020 08:33

We did our last lesson on Monday. The leisure centre was still open but we decided it wasn't safe and teacher agreed. Fluffy I would cancel and would continue to pay whilst you and DH are still earning the same amount but if your wages drop I would cancel payment. That's what I'm doing with dds piano lessons.
