Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

I've just walked the kids to school and left them with DH so I can get back to work.

It's quite chilly out, I'll be glad to get back.

Morning everyone.

Hugs to mrs and boots

Well day 3 of isolation, my chest felt tight yesterday and struggled to breath at times, Dh said it could be anxiety about the whole thing, he could be right, I've never had it before and I'm not normally an anxious person, what is annoying though is, why can't we be tested, we might not even have it and yet we're stuck at home because DD2 has a cough. Oh well.

It's Ds2's birthday, he's 14!! He was happy with his wireless earphones, and so he should be with how much they cost, we got a cake the other day for him, a galaxy chocolate one so dd2 is very happy Grin

pussycatinboots · 19/03/2020 10:09

Cake Happy Birthday PJ DS2 Grin I love having a March birthday - it feels like a new start with all the bulbs coming up and blossom on the trees Smile
Glad you're feeling a bit better.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/03/2020 10:12

Happy birthday PJ's DS2. Hope he has a good day.

NerosFiddle · 19/03/2020 10:42

Happy birthday to your DS PJ

Beautiful day here. I think I might even get the washing hung out.

Why can I send over some ironing? Just about 20 or so shirts Grin.

We've been watching far too much tv recently. I think if I was ever on mastermind my specialist subject would be CBeebies during the CV lockdown.

CrazyBaubles · 19/03/2020 11:13

boots & MrsMad 💐 for you.
The hair issue in my house was that my mum wanted us to be 'trendy' so I was allowed a perm when I was around 9. Then she would have to force hot oil treatments on it because it was dry but it was waist length and hard work.

Did you read Mallory Towers? I loved those and the Famous 5 books.

Happy birthday to your ds PJ

Neros I feel the same about Tv so I plan on getting some reading done while I'm stuck at home anyway.

I'm on day 2. I feel fine, just a sore throat.
I've made a grand plan - basically listed the rooms in my house and what's needed to deep clean them. Going to do one or two each day (depending on how big a job they are) which will help with decluttering which will in turn help when we finally come to move

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/03/2020 11:43

Hahaha Nero, sneak them in. There is so much I am sure it won't be noticed.

I think there are worse subjects on Mastermind to be fair.

pussycatinboots · 19/03/2020 12:53

Crazy Mallory Towers, St Clares and Chalet School Grin
Perming waist length hair sounds nuts Shock what was she thinking?
I had mine permed when it was about bottom of shoulder blade length. The perm didn't take as it was too heavy. I had it done again after a cut a few yrs later and it looked like bad tina turner wig Blush Grin

FireflyGirl · 19/03/2020 14:06

I had my hair permed when I was about 8. It just dropped straight back out. My hair is straight and fine, and it is happy like that Hmm

My sister and I both had long bobs until we were about 10, because it was easy to manage. After that, my mum said we were old enough to look after it ourselves and mine has been long ever since!

if I was ever on mastermind my specialist subject would be CBeebies during the CV lockdown GrinGrin

CrazyBaubles · 19/03/2020 16:00

I never read any Chalet School books, and I read almost anything I could get my hands on!

My hair was just above waist length and so thick I used to use the top of a pop sock instead of a bobble when it was permed 😱
I ended up having it cut to my shoulders after around a year to make it less work but it didn't really help.

DSis's hair was just as thick as mine and naturally wavy. She used to scream her head off when anyone brushed her hair 😂

I have deep cleaned my bathroom, including sorting out the airing cupboard and cabinets, bleaching the grout, doing the skirting boards and hand scrubbing the floor before steam mopping it. I'm tired and my hands hurt now.
Going to relax / cross stitch for an hour before walking the dog again.

Also, my lovely mum is proving a meals on wheels service today. She's doing a roast because I usually go to hers on a Thursday (we all do so it's bedlam). She's going to leave the dinners in my porch and I'll pick them up when she's outside. What a star!

CrazyBaubles · 19/03/2020 16:01

Also, my mastermind specialist subject would be either Harry Potter books or Criminal Minds 😂

WreckTangled · 19/03/2020 16:05

The dc have brought home learning packs home with them today. They've even got colouring pens, Easter egg colouring plus lined and plain paper 😭 I'm feeling really emotional about how much considerations has gone into it. I emailed school earlier to thank them for the past few weeks.

pussycatinboots · 19/03/2020 16:47

Afternoon.
Crazy your mum sounds amazing! Roast dinner delivered to the door Grin you lucky thing.
Wreck That's so sweet of them, especially with the Eggs.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/03/2020 17:14

Your mum is fab Crazy.

Mrsmadevans · 19/03/2020 17:33

Afternoon everyone Smile
Happy Birthday to your Ds2 PJ 14 years old ahhh bless him

CrazyBaubles · 19/03/2020 18:32

MrsMad I remember that Mallory Towers book. I liked Darrell because I have a temper too and thought she was like me Blush

Did anyone used to read Goosebumps and Point Horror books? They used to terrify me but I loved them 😂

And yes, the hot oil treatments were little tubes of Vo5 that she would put into hot water, snip the top off and pour on the ends of my hair.
We laugh now, she admits it was bloody stupid and is a lot more relaxed as we've got older. She was a young mum and openly admits she didn't know what to do (she was 18 having me).

Have to agree with you all, my mum is a star. She invites me & DH, my sister, her bf and 3 dc and usually my cousin and her dc for tea on a Thursday and normally does a roast. She loves the chaos - my nan (her mum) always had loads of people in her house so I think it's her way of feeling relaxed and useful.

WreckTangled · 19/03/2020 18:35

I used to love point horror! And point romance Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/03/2020 19:58

Send help and🍷 we are playing Family Trivial Pursuit. I don't think my liver will survive a full 14 days isolation.

PJMasksGhekko · 19/03/2020 20:23

Ha ha Woolly, I hate playing games with the kids, the school have sent an email detailing the learning they'll be doing at home, I am very happy with it to be honest.

Ds made us laugh he has made his own protective mask, not much protection will happen though but it gave us a good laugh Grin If I can hide some of his face I'll post a picture, he's got a cracking sense of humour.

PJMasksGhekko · 19/03/2020 20:29

Here he is, 14 today and nearly 6ft 2 Grin

It's a Leap Year, so we've an extra day to wait until Christmas! Countdown to Christmas 2020, thread 3!
pussycatinboots · 19/03/2020 20:35

I see he is wearing the correct replica top Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 19/03/2020 20:38

Happy birthday to DS2, PJ! It's a shame to have to spend it in isolation though!

Woolly, we hate playing games too. I feel for you. Good luck to your liver and your sanity!

I loved Enid Blyton books. DD has had the Faraway Tree collection already and she's getting Mallory Towers for Easter and the Famous Five books for her birthday. Hopefully she'll enjoy them as much as I did!

Crazy, your mum is ace! And you've been so productive too, well done!

I got plenty done today. I'm currently upgrading my laptop to Windows 10 though as 7 doesn't support dual screen working with our Remote Desktop. It's taking a while though. 💤

Of course he is puss Grin

Crazy your mum sounds awesome bless her.

I think he's had a nice fluffy, obviously we haven't done anything but he's happy with what he's got bless him.

PJMasksGhekko · 19/03/2020 20:42

Mrs, you could be right about the symptoms, I do think that's part of it for me.

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/03/2020 20:44

Excellent top!

Two four glasses of wine in and it's all gone a bit Pete Tong
