Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

Right l see. l have a flu jab but it's because l look after my Mum . I am nearly 59 though and tbh l don't know if the guidelines are worth the paper they were written on Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 17:14

In my next post l am ptting pics of Dd2 THROAT INFECTION. Avoid like th eplague if you really don't like seeing grotty tonsils Grin

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 17:18

Sorry if this is TMI but l would like to know if you would have done the same . Only l feel bad l didn't make her go before HmmI had to ring the Gp surgery for Dd2 . Her tonsils are just terrible.
I will put pics on in a min. It has been a week, so l said to her l think you have given it long enough for a virus it's time for a course of Ab's. Rang them up , spoke to the Nurse Practitioner and showed her the pics of her tonsils and she was concerned because they were so big lol 'make sure she can swallow'. She gave her a weeks worth of Penicillin. Will put pics on 1st a week ago and second today but am warning you it's not pleasant Grin but l think you will see they needed treatment.

pussycatinboots · 17/03/2020 17:21

Ouch! They look awful, the poor girl. I've had grotty tonsils, but never quite that bad.
I hope the ABs work quickly and she feels better soon Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 17:23

Boot is it omg thank you for that , only when they say self isolate then does it really have to be in the house? Surely a sit in the garden and a little stroll wouldn't hurt so long as no one is about ?

WreckTangled · 17/03/2020 17:25

Mrs carers aren't included. Goodness me she definitely needed abx!

WreckTangled · 17/03/2020 17:26

I'll still be in the garden and walking if I'm well and isolating. I can easily go on a walk and keep away from people round here.

pussycatinboots · 17/03/2020 17:27

You can sit in your garden - you don't have to glue your bum to the sofa Grin you can go for a walk - just keep a little distance (DH read it to be 2m) from others if you see anyone.
DH goes for a walk about 9.30, so after the school run and after most of the dog walkers.

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 17:28

Ahh thank you for the vote of confidance Boot l am sure she will take a days worth and they will be fine Smile

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 17:30

Wreck you most definitely can go for a walk and not meet anyone where you live it is the perfect place to live Grin

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2020 17:34

Yes they say 2 M , l think it is very difficult to achieve this in any of the shops or the chemist though, l wonder how they do it when they are in total shutdown , one in one out?
I had to go to Waitrose to get the prescription and they said it had been horrendous there. No trolls, no pasta, eggs, only certain milk, no hand gel, no hand wash, not many tins , the freezer was decimated !

pussycatinboots · 17/03/2020 17:44

With the Chemist or a shop, I'll be going in and doing the shopping/collecting etc, DH will either stay at home or sit in the car. Hopefully it reduces his immediate contact to a bare minimum.

FireflyGirl · 17/03/2020 17:50

MrsM that looks awful, your poor DD! At least it's definitely not Covid-19!!

The guidance is that you can get out for exercise, you just need to keep your distance from other people. I took advantage and went to the allotment. I weeded about 2/3 of the bed for the onions at the allotment, so just the remaining 1/3 to do, then I can plant the onions.

Then get the maincrop potatoes in.

I have big plans for the next 12 weeks Grin

I got a Morrison's delivery on Saturday and still have the Brexit loo roll stockpile, so we're okay for groceries.

DH and I are going to review the news later, then decide whether we're sending DS to school tomorrow.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/03/2020 17:52

Bloody hell, Mrs. Your poor DD. They're awful.

I'm WFH from Thursday, apparently. I don't think it'll belong before we're all isolating, however.

I'll be going to the allotment still, unless it's totally prohibited. Digging will be good for me!

DD2 is full of beans, I've come down with a sore throat, the school have done her a pack so she can do learning at home and a website called Purple Mash to go on and do activities. Just waiting on work for the other 2.

Ouch Mrs, they look painful, tonsillitis is horrendous, I've never felt as bad as that ever.

I have wine and vodka so I'm OK Grin

EmrysAtticus · 17/03/2020 18:49

Will catch up in a min but our school is closed for 2 weeks!

PJMasksGhekko · 17/03/2020 19:24

Oh wow Emrys, how come they've decided that?

EmrysAtticus · 17/03/2020 19:29

Guidance was put out by the LA which was really strict and it resulted in 33 teachers and 29 support staff having to self isolate

WreckTangled · 17/03/2020 19:36

Omg emrys your school has more staff than pupils at most of the schools I visit Grin

My brother is a head teacher and says they've had no guidance on closing. It's the head teachers decision at the moment but he's just trying to stay open as long as possible.

WreckTangled · 17/03/2020 19:59

WreckCat is having cuddles with dd

FireflyGirl · 17/03/2020 20:10

DS's school is making a decision on a day to day basis, but are trying to prioritise the children of NHS workers and other teachers/support staff, which I completely agree with.

They're open tomorrow, but we've taken the decision to keep DS home. I am 6 weeks pregnant after my miscarriages last year, so we're avoiding any unnecessary risks. I had to tell work today, which wasn't ideal, but I didn't want to lie and say it was due to virus symptoms because that may cause them to have to shut/deep clean the entire floor and send all the other staff home, which isn't fair.

It does mean I can't even have wine and vodka to get through it, though Sad

I'll speak to DS's teacher tomorrow about what we need to be doing at home. They've already sent log in details for an online resource as a pre-emptive measure. I've got quite bad all f*ing day morning sickness, so I've told DH we need to work out a daily rota of who's doing what with DS, and when. Routine will be good for all of us, I reckon. I imagine there will be more tablet time than normal, and an hour or so a day at the allotment/in the garden to burn off some energy.

I've also copied a list of education sites that someone posted on Facebook where you can print off worksheets etc.

I really didn't want to keep him off, but now we're thinking the schools will close imminently anyway, and we might as well limit my exposure.

We've decided it's going to be a bit like the Christmas holiday, aside from DH and I will still have to do work and we can't see everyone!

Fluffy have you seen they're trying to get a blanket 2 or 3 month extension on every single court/limitation deadline?

FireflyGirl · 17/03/2020 20:12

Aw, he's so cute Wreck 😍

Little fluff bum ❤️

PJMasksGhekko · 17/03/2020 20:14

I love your cat Wreck Grin

Ah ok Emrys, our school is open at the moment, and i think from what they have said they will remain open for key workers children if they have to close.

WreckTangled · 17/03/2020 20:24

Oh firefly I didn't realise you're pregnant, all of my best wishes to you right now Thanks I don't blame you for wanting to hide away.

PJMasksGhekko · 17/03/2020 20:44

Congrats Firefly, I can post a list of websites too if you like, that have come in DD2s pack, if they aren't the same of course.
