Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

I'm up ready to start our busy weekend. Cleaning bathrooms is first on my list boots - I bought some rubber gloves to protect my hands.

DS is playing with his birthday toys and coughing Shock

DH is still asleep... Hmm His job this afternoon is going to be greenhouse repairs. It's the middle of March, I need room to be getting stuff planted! The dining room table and bathroom windowsill are full!

CrazyBaubles · 14/03/2020 08:52

Morning 😊

I'm still in bed watching Chicago PD and DH is snoring his head off.
No big plans this weekend - DH will be doing a few bits in the garden to stop the front getting overrun and we'll clean the house but that's it I think, unless we can arrange some house viewings this afternoon.

Fluffy DH and I never build anything together anymore because it's a guaranteed argument. We don't go to Ikea together for the same reason 😂

NerosFiddle · 14/03/2020 10:05

Morning.

Dh wants us to go see fil today. I don't know though. He's going through chemo at the minute, so I think we should stay away just in case.

Enjoy your Saturday everyone!

I've just tidied the pantry (I have two blocks of marzipan for when I was planning to bake some Stollen at Christmas , it's good till Feb 2021 so there might be some marzipanney teabread for Easter ? Baked in a circle, some nice icing , cherries and almonds ........)

Easter is like a 2nd Christmas with the Traditions and the planning.
Nice long weekend . I know exactly what I;ll cook .........if I can buy it

Next week , I;ll see how things go, then I'm on leave for a week (hurrah) but not sure how plans wil go (off to visit DBro)

My DS University trip has been cancelled , but AFAIK everything at University is carrying on.

We did a quick supermarket trip yesterday, managed to get a bag of pasta (DH put it on the shopping list ), there was no looroll or hand gel.

Oddly , many of the people out and about were 70+, some much older . I was torn between I admire your spirit and Good grief, don't you watch the news ?

NoWordForFluffy · 14/03/2020 16:02

That sounds productive, 70!

We failed at greenhouse-building as the wind picked up and it was a nightmare (the panels were like sails as it's one with plastic windows, not glass). We'd tried to get the kids involved, without success too. So DH is going to try a different tactic later!

CrazyBaubles · 14/03/2020 16:41

Your baking plans sound good 70
We're good shopping tomorrow so fingers crossed it's not too bad.

No house viewings for us today. Instead we have been for a nice long walk, done a tip run, cleaned the house from top to bottom and made a meal plan. I've also emptied my washing basket - more proud of that than anything else Grin

Currently soaking in a bath because I feel very achy and it's stopping me stuffing chocolate in my face

Mrsmadevans · 14/03/2020 18:43

Afternoon everyone Smile
Been to Mum's took her to Bob's
Crazy sounds like a great deal was achieved today , well done esp on emptying the washing basket Smile
Fluffy shame about the greenhouse, the wind has been keen here too BRR!
Nero it's difficult to know what to do . l have drummed it into Mum and Bob but l feel like will forget what they are supposed to do or what they are not supposed to do Hmm .
70 enjoy your cooking Smile
Boot well done on the Dh doing the painting of the Panels Grin hope you are ok m'dear Flowers , it's horrible going through the Menopause . I used to have the most awful clots. TMI l fear Hmm
Firefly well done on the cleaning , hope Dh managed to do the greenhouse this afternoon Smile
PJ hope you got your little mitts on some hand gel m'dear Smile
I am feeling tired tonight , my eyebrows/eyelids are doing a stress dance all of their own honestly they could be on SCD !

PJMasksGhekko · 14/03/2020 19:30

None to be found mrs, but I got some from work last year, gave it to Dh and forgot about it, he found it and gave it to DD1 so she is extremely happy, I got given it because the ward I was working on that day had no hot water so they wanted us to have the mini ones on us, so she has NHS hand sanitizer in her pocket for school Grin

WreckTangled · 14/03/2020 19:37

I've got half a thing of hand gel left in my hand bag. At work we have one mini hand foam sanitiser and one 250ml bottled gel between the 20 of us.

PJMasksGhekko · 14/03/2020 19:51

Blimey Wreck not good, our supervisor has ordered more, 10, I'd rather it go to the workers who are working with the elderly.

WreckTangled · 14/03/2020 19:52

We had some ordered but it went missing 🙄 we've ordered some more but who knows if it'll come or not...

PJMasksGhekko · 14/03/2020 20:00

What a surprise Wreck!!

Mrsmadevans · 14/03/2020 20:19

OMG that is awful Wreck & PJ , l have to say l totally agree with you , the workers need it so badly. I don't know who on earth would be so hard hearted to steal the gel. This is bringing out the very best and the worst in us.

PJMasksGhekko · 14/03/2020 20:38

It's bringing out the worst in people isn't it Mrs, I can feel my hands getting dryer with the amount of hand washing. DD is happy though and I'm glad she's got some now for school, although her friend was kind enough to let her use hers I feel better knowing she has her own, it's a full one too as I only used it a couple of times, was about a year ago I got it.

I'm feeling tired today, 2 shifts at work so I'm enjoying some wine, how are your Mum and Bob Mrs?

NoWordForFluffy · 14/03/2020 20:42

DH got us some Lifeventure hand gel stuff from an outdoorsy place. I can't see any online now, but worth checking camping shops if you have any nearby.

I have eczema on my hands, and they're destroyed right now. I'm glad it's the weekend so I'm not venturing out / having to wash my hands as much (if we have undetected CV in the house, I'm doomed whether I wash my hands or not!).

People stealing stuff should be ashamed of themselves. Despicable behaviour.

Mrsmadevans · 14/03/2020 21:01

PJ l am gld you found some gel for your Dd, bless you it's so worrying. You have these ppl stealing the gel from ppl who really need it and then you have your Dd's lovely friend sharing the gel with her. l know it's only something small but it shows a kind heart Flowers
Mum & Bob are confined to barracks , they are forbidden to go anywhere except to each others houses and they are not allowed to bother with anyone else. I have done Mum a month of her tablets in the weekly pill pots ready for her to take in case l am self isolated . God forbid that happens.
Fluffy that is brilliant you have some gel . Hope your hands recover over th eweekend for you m'dear Smile

PJMasksGhekko · 14/03/2020 21:14

I wash with normal soap and water at home. DD2s hands are so dry from washing, we are getting her to moisturise too.

Ahh that's good of you Mrs, I hope your mum appreciates what you do, unlike your sister, she wouldn't do it.

Wreck, I've just seen your gorgeous cat on the C word thread, I want one Grin

FireflyGirl · 14/03/2020 21:31

My Aveeno hand cream arrived today, you could practically hear my hands slurping up the moisture. And no stinging, yey!

I managed to get my potatoes in at the allotment, and want to get the onions in tomorrow if it isn't raining.

Covid-19 seems to be ramping up. We've decided no unnecessary external contact, so no RugbyTots for DS tomorrow.

We're on the fence about DS's party in 2 weeks, but I think we're going to have to cancel Sad The hall will probably let me rearrange for later in the year, and I haven't been asked to pay the bouncy castle deposit yet but if we're going to cancel I want to let them know sooner rather than later. It's a local family-run business, so don't want to mess them about.

I've been pretty ho-hum about it, really. I'm not a big worrier about stuff like that. Even up until today, I didn't see any reason to look at cancelling, but having seen the way the figures have increased today, and the government announcing they think actual case numbers are higher, I am more concerned, and I wouldn't be surprised if the government changes its stance on school closures next week.

PJMasksGhekko · 14/03/2020 21:49

I agree Fire, I think schools will close either end of this week or the week after, I'll still have to go to work at the hospital though, have told Dad that they had better be looking after themselves lol, it's Mum I fear for, she's had blood clots to the lungs, sepsis, pneumonia, and some dirty git sneezed in her face a couple of weeks ago while she was at work Angry

DD2 has a party on Saturday, I wonder if that will be cancelled.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/03/2020 22:12

DS has a school trip a week on Tuesday (the zoo) and will be so upset if it's cancelled. I hope schools don't close til they've been (I think being outdoors is relatively safe!).

On the upside, if schools are shut for a while, DD may miss the fucking ridiculous Y2 SATS.

DS has a party in two weeks. I'm not sure what will happen there.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 15/03/2020 04:41

Oh yes ds is due to have sats. I wouldn't be sad if he missed those. I'm not going to pay anymore towards the french trip or dds residential in May. I've already paid over £100 towards them but still have over half that to pay. I honestly don't know what will happen it's a pretty scary time. I'm meant to be working in the toy shop over Easter too and I really don't want to now!

EmrysAtticus · 15/03/2020 07:17

Sounds as though people are having good weekends :) It Rained here yesterday so no allotment. So so sick of rain. Might try and get my veg trug up today in the garden.

EmrysAtticus · 15/03/2020 07:19

Checked the weather and typically today it is going to rain and tomorrow when I am in work it will be brilliant sunshine Angry

FireflyGirl · 15/03/2020 08:19

I was woken up by the rain hammering against the window, so think my onions are going to have to wait.

Working from home two days a week will save me an extra hour a day on commuting, so will try to use that to get it done during the week.

Wreck I think most schools have cancelled trips abroad, and France is starting to implement control measures. When is he supposed to go?

PJ I think fear of losing anyone in the healthcare system due to childcare issues is the reason BJ hasn't closed the schools yet.

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2020 08:24

Morning everyone 😀
Hope everyone is well 💐
My DH is very sceptical about the CV which makes me very cross with him. He is washing his hands and doing what he should be doing but it's very wearing having to listen to him 🙄
Mum has a freezer we emptied last summer when it was turned off accidentally. My sister was supposed to be having it but it has been sitting there gathering dust since July. I joked with Mum we will have an anniversary party for it lol. Anyway l thought we could buy some bread, ready meals, cakes, cheese, milk, fruit and a few other things just in case l cannot get to her. DH has poured scorn as usual. I can see a divorce coming over his reluctance to take this seriously. It is very frustrating ☹️.
Wreck l don't blame you not wanting to go to the Toy shop but do you think they will be open? Of course if the children are off school then they will be wanting to go to you shops so l don't know. Bit of a dilemma for you love 🥺💐
Fluffy it's very difficult to Decide what to do for the best re the DC and parties etc. On the one hand l hear how China and Korea are recovering and think are we just going to have to go on lockdown for a few weeks like Wuhan and it will be over. Only thing is l don't think China has been honest and you can't believe their figures 🙄
On another note it's lovely not to have usurpers here just us few trusted peeps 🤗😘
PJ that's disgusting someone coughing in your Mum's face like that 😠
Sats are so useless imho. Both my Dd's were tested and they achieved far higher than they were predicted. Their CATS prediction were all wrong too 🙄.
Also the DC were coached to pass the tests by the teachers and it seemed utter madness to me.
Fire so glad you have your hand cream hope they feel better 🤗 today .
Em it's ok here so far , doesn't look too bad tbh 🤗
Am off to Mum's, take care everyone 💐🤗😘
